    ALPB is great baseball and you can get tickets for very cheap. I’ve been going to Revolutions games since they opened and worked in the concessions for a season. Few things:
    1. There’s a manual scoreboard in the Arch Nemesis. Pretty awesome.
    2. Arch Nemesis was built to protect the houses on Arch Street and named by the fans during construction.

    • @PYLrulz1984
      @PYLrulz1984 Před 2 lety

      Not to mention there wasn’t much room to fit the ballpark in, so Arch Nemesis had to be built to negate the fact that left field wall has a very short distance from home plate

    Genomes is a temporary team to be replaced by Hagerstown, MD eventually. Some of these teams like Staten Island, Charleston, Lexington, lost their affiliated teams so they had to switch to a unaffiliated league.

      And other teams (Lancaster, York, Long Island, Southern Maryland, as well as past teams in Bridgeport, Newark, Camden) exist because nearby minor or major league teams have said no to certain cities having an affiliated team enter their market.

      Charleston and Lexington were kicked out of affiliated ball but kept going as business enties, same with the Tri-city Valley Cats who joined the Frontier League.
      Staten Island is a new entiny entierly, not a contiunation of the old Yankees.
      It does kinda annoy me that the SI Yankees got cut, because it leaves my favotire minor league club, the Brooklyn Cyclones, without their twin.
      The two were founded as part of a deal between the City, the Mets and the Yankees. Both wanted minor league affliates nearby, but the other team retained veto power. City says "We'll build you each a minor league park and you approve each other's team.

      From what the league believes, it seems like Hagerstown will be here next year. Then they’ll wait a couple years before planning on expanding to twelve. There’s been a lot of talk about trying to find something in SWVA and in Western PA.

    The SIUH Community Park was actually originally home to the Minor League Class-A Short Season affiliate of the Yankees, the Staten Island Yankees. However due to the restructuring of the Minor Leagues in 2020-21, the Yankees unfortunately met a fate dodged by the Brooklyn Cyclones by moving to the High-A level. The ballpark sat abandoned for 3 years before finally the New York Yankees attracted the Atlantic League and brought baseball back to Staten Island with the FerryHawks. I honestly have to say that the stadium has one of the best locations of any stadium in sports.

    The building that is part of Appalachian Power Park I believe has a restaurant, but I know includes the team offices, ticket offices, and souvenir stand. It is actually an old grocery wholesaler that later was a furniture warehouse. The train horn is because the tracks are about a block away from the left field fence, but also a slight homage to the town's former ballpark, Watt Powell Park. Watt Powell was on the southside of the river and faced the hillside, but between the fence and the hillside was the train tracks. People used to joke the longest home run was hit in Watt Powell Park when Dave Parker hit a home run to right field that landed on a passing coal train and the ball was found 75 miles away in Kentucky on top of one of the coal cars. Two rows of seats were actually brought from Watt Powell to the new stadium, which can kind of be seen under the scoreboard in the video.

    I went back to look at this video after one of your other minor league videos and immediately got nostalgic... for a strange reason. The Duck's park was actually through a small stretch of woods from where our house was on Long Island so even though my brother and I couldn't drive at the time, we had a way of getting to the games. I can never keep track of the name, though, it started as EAB Park if I recall correctly but that bank being bought by Citigroup just confused _everything_ with a certain field in Flushing Meadows.

    As a High Point resident, I can explain why the Rockers have a small purple section! The team and their stadium are closely associated with High Point University, whose main color is purple, with the University's president actually being on the board of directors for the Rockers and Truist Point. That section also features some preserved seats from former or renovated major league stadiums on display. The team and stadium essentially operate as a single nonprofit entity with a focus on community advancement, since the city of High Point had next to nothing in terms of entertainment until the Rockers were founded a few years ago. HPU itself has grown a lot in the last two decades which further facilitated the need for a sports and entertainment venue outside the University, even though they've also renovated many of their athletic facilities and built a new basketball arena.

      Samford University is credited with the creation of the college homecoming.

    Barnstormers, Blue Crabs and Dirty Birds, you have to love minor league team names! Here in Nova Scotia, one of the classic minor league ball teams were the Springhill Fencebusters. They were provincial champions between 1921 and 1945 and were inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
