The Problem With Being Politically Correct ft. Michael Shafar

- Today's guest is the delightful comedian Michael Shafar.
Michael is a talented guy. He finished high school ranked in the top .05% of the state. He studied and completed law and biomedicine only to ditch it and pursue his calling of becoming a stand-up comedian. He has been performing for 8 years and is also a writer for The Project on channel 10.
Michael has been diagnosed with testicular cancer twice and beaten it twice. He dedicated his entire 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival show to raising awareness about testicular cancer. His entire hour on stage - at a comedy festival - was about his battles with cancer. I'm always impressed when people are able to bring light to a dark place. You've gotta have big ball to do that.
Apologies for the lack of video component in today's podCARst. Those of you who follow me on Instagram will have seen my distress earlier today when my hard drive corrupted. Fortunately I was able to salvage the audio!
A special Thank-Q to Michael for joining me today! To see when he's performing in your city check out his website below:

The DVD bounce, is the best option for no video
it's hilarious!!
you are killing it with these latest podcarsts! Another really interesting one.
Anyone wanna help timestamp when the DVD logo hits the corners?
Yeah I am not doing that. But hey this format is cool too, can listen to this while working out and doing chores!
Darren from Worcester: 21:00 minutes and 22:58. You're welcome 😁
Maybe this podcast thing needs to be reevaluated?
This video reminds me of the windows 98 screen saver 😂
Glad Michael Shafar beat it twice! Hope the best for him.

I love this podcarst! Real food for thought!
One small disagreement I have is that Michael conflates political correctness with social norms. Pre-PC culture, that tension existed, cuz making Holocaust jokes or Catholic jokes are inherently anti the social norms. However, political correctness is social norms in its most authoritarian form, and I don’t think you need that level of PC to create good tension in comedy.
Love this, keep it up Dazza!
HAVE PIPER IN THE NEXT VIDEO PLEASE AND COOL VIDEO.
in lockdown here in melbourne (haven't driven for months!) but very keen for this - piper is too!
Sad that your Video got f'ed up, but stuff like this happens. So we have to stick with the pure audio then. ^^
I had one instance of a similar issue. On a vacation I was transferring the snowboarding videos from my action cam to a portable hdd while being on the bed with all my tech. So the slight vibrations I was generating by changing position whilst reading a book during the data transfer was enough to tilt the portable hdd or the laptop hdd to scramble all those video files.
Luckily I was able to recover almost all of the data later by importing the damaged files into a video editing software on my desktop machine which was able to smooth out the defective sections of the files. It took a lot of hours recovering and rendering, but in retrospect I am happy to have invested the money for a proper software package instead of going cheap. This saved my entire set of recordings for the trip.
Perhaps you can somehow import and recover your video files and reupload this episode with the pictures to your conversation... 🤞
p.s.: all of this above was written before hearing Your final statment of being recorded in April... so I believe if it would have been possible to recover any of those video-files we would have gotten to see those. Sad but true... ^^
