I was surprised at how stripped-down the Rez version of this song is and how little the original utilizes the California Soul sample. Somewhere inbetween the two would probably sound amazing.
I had no idea, nor would I ever have thought that a song made just for level music in a video game would sample from something dope like this. That whole soundtrack to that game was crazy dope tho

@denylach no, like I said I have no way to confirm it, but given as how Dune is a sci-fi literature classic and "FEAR IS THE MINDKILLER" appears on the book as the first phrase of the litany against fear (a litany is a phrase, motto, prayer or mantra intended to calm those who recite it) and this song speaks about "a fear without a limit that you cannot engineer" I like to think they are related somehow...
Such a great track.. I really wish they didn't take the "official" video offline, which was equally as genius.. Oh well, can't win 'em all, I suppose :o

My brain went kaput. I know this song, (this exact same mix, not the other ones around) I heard it a million times, but I don't know where I used to listen to it. I'm pretty sure it was a game or a movie. Was it Gran Turismo 5 ? The Need for Speed ? The Matrix ? Please, help, I'm going nuts here.
I've played juiced on all the three general platforms and they're extremely different. Nintendo DS being the worst obviously but I still enjoyed it. The PSP version I played a good amount of was pretty decent. The PC/XBOX360/PS3 was the best, but I haven't played it enough to see how different it is.
As much as I would like to see the video again, I've got a hard copy of the album, so it's no big deal.. I'll look for it on torrent or something if I get desperate. ;)

Rez had to break it down and spread it out by necessity. The by-product of that is the California Soul sample hitting you like a freight train.
