When France played Brazil in the World Cup final in France (Brazil had Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, etc...), Zidane seemingly single handedly controlled the midfield and gave the French offense great pass after great pass...oh, and scored two goals with his head to win the World Cup for France. I had never seen one player dominate a game like that against such a quality opponent!

Zidane was a playmaker, you can compare his task with a point guard in basketball: his function is to control the tempo of the game, to organize the team, to give assists and sometimes to score. In my opinion he is the best playmaker in history, as you said, everything seemed easy to him. Once, when Zidane was playing for Real Madrid, Magic Johnson was invited to see his first football match. At the end of it he said: "One of the most inspiring nights of my life, Zidane is a phenomenon, as good as me and Michael Jordan put together."
