  • A video I should have uploaded long time ago, but for some reasons I completely forgot about it. Enjoy the amazing roar of this special ex Scuderia Filipinetti 1970 Ferrari 512 S 'Coda Lunga' (Italian words for 'Long Tail'), chassis 1016, produced by the 5.0-liter V12 engine, doing some free practice laps of Imola Circuit!

    Always makes me think of the movie LeMans that Steve McQueen was in. This and the 917 have two of the most distinct exhaust notes ever. Amazing to see this car preserved and still being run today. Thank you!

    What always amazes me is that these cars are from like the late 60s or early 70s. They still look so modern.

    • @Emira_75
      @Emira_75 Před 2 měsíci +1

      No they don't they look like the apitomy of the 1960's.
      Gorgeous but very 60's. Big round headlights, curving sensual lines and no down force.

    • @mitchell-wallisforce7859
      @mitchell-wallisforce7859 Před 19 dny

      @@Emira_75 Nah, fella's actually got a point here.
      I mean, do they look as space-age now as an LMP1 car? No. But if I knew fuck-all about cars and you asked me to place that thing in history, I think I'd guess 1980's or even 90's. The round headlights and simple racing livery give it away as a product of the early 70's, but one could conceivably guess that it was much newer. Hell, the Coda Lunga specifically isn't all that far off in shape from Group C prototypes in Le Mans trim that came a decade and a half after it, with that square-ish beltline and wide stance.
      Maybe "modern" isn't the right word, but it looks pretty far ahead of its time for something dated at _1970._

      With the breaker panel inside water splashing distance of it, heh. There's a lot of things about the cockpit that make me cringe though - how about the leg box that looks like you have to point your feet to get them inside, nicely constructed to fold & cut your legs off at the knees? guess you can't even get in the car if you're not in a certain height range...
      Awesome car though.

    Now being 21 I know vey little about 1960s and 1970s sports car racing, other than my love for the cars. Namely the Ferrari 330P4, the Ferrari 512S and M, and the Porsche 917K and LH, and oddballs like the Howmet TX, and basically every Chaparral. That being said, one thing that always stands out to me t=is the Scuderia Filipinetti crest. Everywhere I look, there it is, I even saw one of their cars at the Toronto Autoshow. It was a 250LM now owned buy the Greater Toronto Area's Ferrari Dealer, Remo Ferri. My entire life this car is parked only minutes from my house and then here it was in the exhibit. My point? Well the Filipinetti cars seem like they are actually still driven, why else would they appear in every video, photo, and exhibit? I know Remo Ferri occasionally drives his around Mosport.
