    Finally some time to watch the car boot video's again :) Soon will be for holiday on the island again :)

    Well, this was interesting for me to wake up to.... I got my morning coffee and turned on the computer and immediately saw this video waiting for me...Ha ha ha, sometimes this kind of tinkering early in the morning is a way to get the brain going 🙂 sometimes the silk-screening on the motherboard and the numbers you find may not necessarily reflect directly to the model of the motherboard but more towards the blank motherboard as a circuit board before the board is populated. I've seen this on occasion but usually even Google will find something.

    • @LearnElectronicsRepair
      @LearnElectronicsRepair  Před měsícem +1

      Yeah, it seems really unusual that google finds nothing on what looks very much like a board model number. As mentioned in the video though, rare does not always equate to valuable 😉

    Hey Richard nice to see another video from you... let's grab some popcorn and enjoy the show

    The chassis of that first case looked pretty shiny. I don't think it was, but could it be aluminum? That'd be a nice piece of scrap. The MSI board is nice. It isn't that special, but somebody will want it for what they call a "retro rocket" build. The second one, the NEC, could possibly have some real value to it. It said radiographic control on it. I'm guessing it had a pretty specific job. Imagine someone still using that radiographic machine it was controlling winds up needing a new motherboard. Where are they going to find one? It can be a long shot, but those kinds of boards you really should list for sale with a stupid price - I'd go $500 us personally. You never know when you might find that one person that really really needs it. It might seem like you're taking advantage of somebody listing it at a price like that, but imagine what it would cost to completely replace radiographic equipment with all new stuff. You'd be doing them a favor really.

    On the agp slot it was a warning sticker you had to remove before installing a video card !!!!

    A set of stainless "desoldering needles" cost pence from Ali but are various bores and great tools for straightening ic pins. Much easier and controllable than using pliers. Never used them for desoldering though!

    • @LearnElectronicsRepair
      @LearnElectronicsRepair  Před měsícem +1

      I've got some of those hollow desoldering needles. As I often say, there are various ways of doing just about anything

  • @Dutch_off_grid_homesteading

    Heya, nice carbootie again. and this is why it is nice, opening the pc to find what's inside and man what a surprize it is this time a MSI board with 2 dv out puts. what I untherstand is that those MSI boards should be pretty nice ?

  • @dedr4m

    With that SoundBlaster compatible CMI8738 C-Media PCI audio chip on board and that AGP slot, the MSI board you have there would span multiple generations nicely, from MSDOS gaming through to early to mid Windows XP gaming (Probably even run Crysis, right after playing DOOM and Duke3D natively).
    Edit: That second board is worthless, it's a generic e-POS board by NEC who's competition was Wincor Nixdorf at the time of that PCB, it uses the Intel 815 or similar P4 mobile chipset (The mobile intel chipset was just the desktop variant with half the SATA and a PowerVR GPU etched onto the silicon). The strange connectors around the northbridge gives away the iGPU, those headers are for adding non-UMA RAM to the chipset for faster RAM access.

    • @LearnElectronicsRepair
      @LearnElectronicsRepair  Před měsícem

      I agree the second one is worthless - but according to google search it doesnt' even exist. Which makes it fun anyway 😁 Thanks for the info on the MSI board.

    DVO1 Digital Video Out 1 DVO2 Digital Video Out 2 .... for the imaging systems !!!! like xray's !!!

    • @dedr4m
      @dedr4m Před měsícem

      Would've thought it was the DRAM Video Option header for early Intel iGPUs (Kinda like the GM815, not sure if GM815 had the potion, though earlier certainly did) to use faster RAM than the UMA shared RAM

  • @Dutch-linux
    @Dutch-linux Před měsícem

    with MSI it depends on the series of motherboards if they are popular to have or not .... usualy the highend series will fetch some good money on the retro market

    If only Richard could type. He'd have been so excited. That motherboard is worth, wait for it, US $509.54 At least it's cousin G7GGDC is going for that. Looks very similar to me. I searched for NEC G7GWX motherboard

      @@LearnElectronicsRepair they're both NEC industrial boards. That's what you have. It's not a desktop PC system. I was surprised to see polymer caps in a P4. I didn't know they had them that long ago. The first time I ever saw them in PCs was the i series.

  • @Dutch-linux
    @Dutch-linux Před měsícem

    to take the cpu out and start it it has reset the cpu information in the bios !!!!! that is wahy it starts with the cpu re inserted .... think the bios settings had been set wrong..... MSI is pretty picky when it comes to bios settings of the boards in that era

    Rare? I didn't see anything rare. I only saw two junker Pentium 4 motherboards, one without an AGP slot which may be uncommon but using the word rare on a dead P4 board is pointless. Maybe it's rare to see this junker board working in 2024... that part is true ;-)
