    thanks for the quick video. i was just "given" a 2005 Freedom 250 with 1100 miles on it that has been parked since 2010. ive learned its a knock off of the Helix. i had to replace the fuel tank and thanks to your video i now know where the radiator is.

    Good job, nice to see some new Helix videos I changed my Helix type 2 coolant a couple of years ago after I bought it along with the rest of the old fluids. I might add since the rear wheel is up and the front one down while it's on the center stand lift the front up and prop something under it until the back tire makes ground contact then the radiator will be at an even higher elevation allowing the air bubbles to escape quicker from the system, I learned that while doing cars years ago. I siphoned the Helix overflow tank old coolant out too and removed the clamp on the inlet hose near the drain bolt for some additional draining. The only thing that I would have liked to have done but forgot was to disconnect the coolant return line on the opposite side of the scooter just to make sure all of the old coolant was out of the piping system, maybe next time. PS I'm the same way when working under pressure, but having a little drink first before filling the radiator back up starting @ 3:05 on the video will always steady a shaking hand, ha..ha...

    Thanks for another great maintenance video! So far I feel pretty confident I can change oil and coolant myself in the spring. Now waiting to find a video of how to change out gear oil.......I'm assuming this one will be more difficult. LOL

      Check out CZcams "Mitch's Scooter Stuff" video czcams.com/video/EBuvfQCtuX8/video.html or search for Honda Elite 250 transmission/gear/final drive oil change. It's fairly easy and is exactly the same procedure for the Helix 250. I did mine a few years ago which probably never had never been done in 22,000 miles because it was extremely filthy. I did like most do replacing the standard multi weight motor oil as listed in your owners manual with Mobil 1 75-80W synthetic gear oil. Fill it back up while turning the wheel a little now and then to work the fluid throughout the gears until it just runs back out of the fill plug hole before installing the plug back in. Don't forget to note the mileage and date for your records in your manual or elsewhere, I also use a Excel spread sheet maintenance log on the computer.

      @@Serpico1152 Yes its exactly like the Elite 250 except the body parts.

    • @ACoustaDC
      @ACoustaDC Před rokem

      It's easy as pie. Just make sure you remove your *FILL* bolt first. You do not want to drain and then not be able to get the fill bolt off, with no way to put fluid back in....

    Is it necessary to flush the coolant when it looks that green (new)? How often does it need to be changed?

    • @MacrossGarage
      @MacrossGarage  Před 2 lety

      You usually base the change on time and not the appearance.

      Question, if you’re just trying to add coolant, can you add it through the reservoir or do I have to add it by removing the dash?
