That laser beam function is so money. Been experimenting with home/lifestyle and product video, and doing most of this handheld when I'm not locked off, but this would be a great add to the kit.

I do not recommend using a cheap Manfrotto Tripod for the slider, the tripod head caused the tripod to bobble which causes leveling issues.

Sliders need drag to be smooth, and that would be the major issue people are having trying to use an Edelkrone Slider. It's a much lighter and inexpensive setup to buy their Steady Module (drag unit), and combine it with a gimbal that has tracking. If you're doing primarily slider work every day, then it probably makes sense to spend more. I just sold my Edelkrone gear for something more travel friendly.

I am currently doing research on motorized sliders. I looked into Edelkrone but I find there design kind of unrefined and bulky, more of a prototype compared to the Rhino and the Shark. This “review” confirms me that I made the right decision. I am going with the Rhino ultimate slider bundle. Thanks Jason!

Edelkrone is nice, if you have time, but carrying it around on a paid gig like weddings, it’s a hassle.
Gimbal works better for slider replacement. You're right. Its a lot of hassle carrying this slider around
I´m so confused about what to buy, either the edelkrone or the rhino arc II combo. Arc II seems to have cool stuff, but also a lot of complains of people saying it´s buggy. Darn, decisions!
A gimbal can do alot of things , but when you when to do the exact same repeated movement , a slider is the only way to go

Thanks for another great video Jason. Just picked up this very setup, minus the laser module. Question: I use a Sony A7R III with mostly autofocus GM lenses. Can a Rokinon or Samyang lens be used with the autofocus module?
Hopefully, DJI will release its slider, where you can put DJI ronin on top, for full sync between two and of course app control.

Really helpful thanks, just out of interest, is the focusing also handled by the kit? Or is that you setting the focus points in camera. (i have a gh5 with metabones and Canon lenses so autofocus is no fun for me! lol)

I got a digislider a few years back and it's been great.... But! I haven't used it as much as I wanted because it becomes cumbersome. However!! It makes an excellent lazy sue at the dining table for passing ketchup 😎

As a run and gun shooter, the only applications I’d use a motorized slider in would be for interviews, products, and timelapse. I would stick to the trusty gimbal for events for sure 🤔📸🎥 Different tools for different projects is why I always have GAS..... 💨 #cantgowrongwithjasonvong

I was always impressed by the concept of edelkrones sliders. Double the length by putting it on a tripod. Really love your view on the slider and the motor since i was interested in this setup a while ago. I had the same doubts like you but after researching i was really into it.
