  • In this episode of the History and Stories of our Neighborhoods, we will look at the neighborhoods or Kirtland Village and Kirtland Hills. The stories and history of these neighborhoods are very fascinating and include being the playground of the very wealthy, to a place of worship for the early Mormon and Reorganized Latter Day Saints church, and a place of a very infamous murder. For such a small community, there is so much to tell.

The early history of Kirtland as a village of wealth and religion provided information I’d never heard before. Quite interesting. Kirtland is over 20 miles from Cleveland so in the 1800s and early 1900s The millionaires from Cleveland had a long journey to the bucolic respite that Kirtland offered. The downside of this presentation for me was the time spent on the Lundgren murder of the Averys. Two separate topics IMO.

This video said Little Mountain is the highest elevation in Ohio. It isn't. Campbell Hill is, at 1,549.09 feet (472.16 m), the highest point in elevation in the U.S. state of Ohio.
