The woman in the store didn't want it known that they were selling unlicensed goods
Most of it is liscenced, but 10% is knockoffs.

My grandma bought me a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt from one of these shops,it said Florida on left top.
The Woo is so much more laidback now. Still makes quality content after all these years.

When I was in Florida in 2012, we visited the "World's Greatest Gift Shop" to get cheap tickets for Disney. Man that store was big and bootlegtastic. That elevator was great though.
i bet u the reason why that lady said u couldnt film was cause she was afraid disney would find out about the bootlegs and sue her store
I'm pretty sure Disney are fully aware of these shops, they are everywhere literally a few miles away from Disney World.

What cracks me up was I saw a lot of "black market" Disney retailers around Orlando and Tampa the last time I went. What I find odd is that the official Disney retail shops all over the country keep getting bought out. They used to be independent chains paying royalties to Disney but the Mouse bought them back. Then they sold them and a few years later, changed their mind and bought them out again! I have no idea if these are franchised out independently or if the owners under legal definition, work for Disney.
Highway 192 is amazing! All the stuff in there is like a theme park itself. Those gift shops are cool. I wish I had bought more stuff from them

Actually yes, foreign tourists come over and buy a bunch of this crap and take it back to wherever they're from and resell it there.

Ah bootleg Disney Gift Shops and the horrible stench all of them had inside for some reason, the stuff I miss the least from my US vacations.
I remember the wizard having a droopy eye tho, one eye permanently looked down while the other looked straight ahead. They must've fixed it sometime between summer of 2012 and the making of this video.
i visit one time to those gift shops around disney. Thats all i gotta say.

One thing to note is that the wizard once had a glass ball on the top of the staff, but after hurricane Charley (I think it was) the glass ball was shattered and as such doesn't have it anymore. It was probably too expensive or they got really lazy after it got destroyed to replace it.
Those are some specTACKYular store facades. I wish all retailers were that magnificent looking!

My last few trips there,I stayed at the Econolodge Maingate,right across the street.Took a picture of that shop,made it into a screensaver,used it as a background for a faux Zippy cartoon!
I love this because it brings back orlando memories because I always used to drive past these places.

The store I work at doesn't allow filming in the store either, although customers can take pictures of the merchandise for "research."

The last few times I've been to Disney in Florida, including the cruise, I've been to these shops. I like them, even though I've only bought Disney stuff once. Maybe I'll buy more next month.
