My friends 17 year old son popped out in his dressing gown for 5 minutes, 7 years ago! .....Essex police were convinced he was a runaway....He wasn't!! His body was found a few months later in a big Farm pond in Wakering, 5 miles from his home 😢.....His Autopsy was inconclusive and his case was closed .....We still cannot believe the case has just been left ....its absolutely heartbreaking 💔

We share the exact same birthday. Right down to the year. She would be 43 right now. To think that she could have a life like mine, 4 daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter on the way, just breaks my heart. Her poor family. I will be sure to think of her every year on our Birthday and pray for closure and justice for Lindsay and her family.
When i was in first grade in 1993, a girl from my school from the third grade went missing and was found murdered one year later near her home. She disappeared from a neighbourhood playground where i lived and was almost every day with my friends. I was afraid to go to school for months. Her murderer was never convicted, her family left the town. Because the police didn´t search the house where she was later found, crucial evidence and time was lost. I still see her face, when i remember walking by a bench on the schoolyard, were she was sitting on top and looking at me little silly first grader. So when you say you are affected by this horrible crime and the uncertainty for the parents and the family of Lindsay, i feel exactly what you mean. Thank you for sharing their stories.
I lived near Jon Benet Ramsy, and she went to a school that I attended for a year before we moved but she had been older so I just heard about her murder and didn't know her or her family, I remember how scared I was I locked all doors and windows before going to sleep everyday for years and still often do all these years laters, these things stick with you 😢.

Why Ms Emma Kenny, I do believe you to be one of the most consistent human beings on our planet, based on what I see in you and the way you upload your content. So much so in fact, when I saw this episode had dropped, I was convinced it was actually Sunday, and that I had completely lost Saturday somehow.
I even jumped up and immediately started on the upcoming new weeks school laundry, that I was now convinced I had completely forgot to do, while plucking my brain out like it was some kinda runaway unibrow trying with everything I got, to remember yesterday.
No Dice Tho...Couldn't remember a thing.

Caroline Dickinson was the sister of a very good friend of mine. It absolutely tore her family apart. The story of how the killer was caught is incredible. I think I would struggle to watch it, though I can't think of anyone more empathetic and more respectful than. Emma to cover it.

It just incenses me when the authorities mislead the public regarding the probable nature of a violent crime so as to assuage the community’s fears about having a killer on the loose who could strike again at any moment. This proves utterly reckless as locals will tend to let their guard down unbeknownst
Even though the police know that the majority of murders of children are committed by one or both parents, it's as if it's something that is still too terrible a thought to emphasise.

Hebden Bridge is a beautiful place, im in Preston but there's a quaint little wool shop in Hebden Bridge that my mother is rather fond of and we've often driven out there so Mum can add to her collection.
The part about the Rochdale canal gave me chills. My grandparents lived in Rochdale (my Nan is still with us at 92, bless her). I had just turned 15 in the Summer of 1990 and my cousin, her friends and I would splash around in the canal under the blazing sun. Makes me feel sad that only a few years later, Lindsay would succumb to her death and be purposefully disposed in there like a piece of trash. I had never heard of this case before. I really hope Lindsay's killer is found and her family get the closure they deserve. Thanks for covering the story Emma.

There have been other murder cases where the police haven't been able to solve it for years because someone has given a false alibi for the killer and it's just left at that. It's only years later when someone changes their mind that it's solved. But surely the police are aware that anyone backing up someone else's story might be lying, but what can they do about it ?

One of my abusers lured me to Hebdon Bridge and a Scout Hut. I will speak to police when they are ready to take my evidence, which will be soon. I need to check my own evidence for dates of when I was there. My evidence is currently boxed up.

I live just near Ripponden, West Yorkshire, not far from Hebden Bridge. Yes it’s a lovely place…. Full of retired business people and, let’s be nice and say….financially unchallenged professionals from the north. Bloody good chippy!
However, during the 1990’s there was a swell of, how to put it? Folk from places like Leeds and Bradford and dare I say it…Halifax, selling bits and bats of wares which we now call county lines. Extremely violent men who entered and exited small towns without challenge. Strangers.
Late night cruisers, selling, picking, watching for tiny dancers…..I honestly believe that the police first investigation and arrests were spot on. Just not enough evidence to provide to the CPS. I honestly don’t believe this is local. It’s a fallacy that small towns are safe, predators and opportunists hang on that false security that yokel folks have. It’s probably never going to be solved. I hope Lindsay’s family find peace. God bless each and every one of them. ☘️

Love everything you do. Wondered if you could do a deep dive into the case of Belinda Gibson, Southampton. Pregnant and smothered by her husband and Father in law and dumped at sea. He only got caught because of his affair who eventually felt so guilty she told the police. Lots of coercive behaviour but seems. She was a friend of my brothers so is of particular interest to me. He's trying to get parole at the moment, hope he never gets out after what he did to Belinda and her 5 kids. She was also pregnant when he killed her. Evil!

Poor girl. As your say, you don't know who it could have been. Canals at night are not the safest of places, I keep saying this to my son. As you say, it's harrowing. It could be someone who's living in Hebden Bridge to this day.
Anyone could have overheard the conversation in the pub. I really hope the parents and family get some peace by knowing who did it.
If peace is at all attainable in these situations.

I do wonder if the police did have a suspect and were trying to draw this person out by giving them an "out" with the "maybe it was an accident..." Line
There are various types of 'ruse' that can be employed, but i don't know if they get someone to come forward and confess. This may work if the person is already a suspect being questioned.
