    I had to go back to confirm that a >6 year old was held under the Baker act. It's not something you expect that a small child be so sick that they are a threat. The child must have been in complete malfunction to act out in such a way. Emma, you seem familiar with this? It's a tragedy that Meredith wasn't just left with her loving grandpa, someone who she was safe with.

    Cody and Cheyenne's reactions and actions! So many things to say about it and yet, at the same time, no words. She was six!!! As you rightly say, Emma, they need a safe space. I've literally sat with my child numerous times as she just lets it out - screaming, hitting, biting, whatever it is., however extreme it gets. That's what you do. That behaviour comes out when they are frustrated and don't know how to express it verbally, so you let them get it out any way they can, then when they've calmed down again, can think and form words and sentences, then you talk it all out with them.

    Is it just me? I can’t imagine myself constantly arguing with a 6 year old, kind of like an older teen. It just seems like the adult would have to lower themselves, on an emotional and maturity level, in order to carry on arguing like that? I don’t understand. “Fair, firm, and consistent “ was my mantra in the classroom and my home. If I feel in danger of ‘losing it’, it’s time for an adult timeout.

    It actually astounds me that it never entered her mind that Cody's attitude was an excuse to end the relationship. I raised my son alone and I heard all kinds of cop-outs that men gave me to not want to be in a relationship. Some of them might have been honest when they said they didn't want to raise another man's son, which will NEVER make sense to me, but I aaalllwwaaayyysss assumed it was a cop-out. I never thought that they truly didn't want to be around my son and IF they truly didn't then it was because they didn't want the responsibility. My son was troubled, he suffered for not having his father in his life, but wasn't anything that wouldn't have been rectified by having a loving male role model. He was just craving that male love in his life. At no time, was it his fault the boyfriends didn't stick around, it was either because the men were too irresponsible to see what a gift he would have been in their life, or it wwe because they didn't want to be with me and my son was a convenient excuse. Meredith wasn't in the way. Cody didn't want to be with Cheyenne and he used Meredith as an excuse.
    I agree with you Emma, listening to her speak, I wouldn't assume she had an average IQ either. She clearly didn't have the wherewithal to understand that Meredith and the loving father that she had were gifts, Cody was the one who should have been thrown out with the garbage.

      I dont think it's always just an excuse. Some men genuinely do dislike children. I have had (platonic) male friends tell me they'd never date single Moms & dont want children of their own either. The one most insistent on that didnt find a long term partner until he was 39, for that reason. All the women he met before his current partner , wanted kids.

    • @divadawn509
      @divadawn509 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @sarahholland2600 yes but normally those men don't date single moms at all. I'm talking about the ones that date single moms and them use the child as an excuse to break up with them.

    • @babyboyz100
      @babyboyz100 Před 6 měsíci +4

      @divadawn509 might be a cop out but ultimately I would rather someone end it then end up on all these sad cases we hear. where they lose their temper or just like using the kid for their sick fantasies. Also I think some men might like a woman and feel she is worth making an effort to accept the child but the idea and reality are too very different things. That's why I think it's so important for single mothers to keep their relationship separate from their child for a good amount of time and when they do meet the child it should be on neutral ground and a slow process

    How does one Baker act a child under the age of 6?! I’m in the US so I understand the Baker act, have had to use it on my youngest sister who has extreme mental health challenges - but a parent would be the one making decisions for the child, so I would think the Baker act only comes in if you have a child at risk of harming themselves or others and their caregiver refusing to get them treatment. If indeed it does not work that way, it seems like the law needs to be revised.

    Over 900 people died within the space of an hour - many of whom were _forced_ to drink the Kool-Aid. In the recordings you can hear them crying and screaming, and little children trying to escape then being held down and having the drink forced down their throats. It was a horrific event, and one of the largest massacres ever to happen on US soil. So I’m wondering what the shirt is referencing exactly??

Vickie was 81/2 with what would've been a boy, when we found her she was on the floor in a pool of blood the child next to her body, her throat had been cut and a meat clever used to remove her legs that animal who attacked her had a leg fetish, security cams caught him trespassing as he threw her legs in a river! i stood there as my fried feel to the ground broken the love of his life as, he grabbed ahold of her wanting her back, the paper had misprinted several things, her death took place before 2000, and she wasn't 50 years old she was in her 40s, her story can be found on google Vickie Soto north Platte Nebraska murder case, clear details can be found although it differs some from the way I explain it, they weren't there as I was, if it hadn't been for those security cams her murder would be a cold case, her husband joined her in 2017!

    Thank you for yet another brilliant video Emma! ❤ Your passion, dedication and attention to all of the details are certainly second to none. I think Netflix needs to team up with you, your brother, and Pete to have your own deep dive series. So long as they allow you carte blanche to have complete control and keep your sense of humour! ❤ xx

    Honestly I think the boyfriend would have been perfectly within his right if he had said: "I don't want to be a parent, I don't agree with the way you shout at your child all the time, I cannot handle the situation of living with a young child, it's more difficult than I thought" and respectfully left the relationship. He's child free and we're talking about a mother who does a shite job at raising her kid. It's okay to realise that situation isn't for you. But to talk that negatively about a six year old girl? Hell no.

    My daughter has a very very strong support system which is why her stay was a few days only after her friend died suddenly at 19.
    It was recommended by the dr she go and she went willingly, all my 18 yr old did was look after screaming schizophrenics….some rest…
    They knew she was better at home and got her discharged on the Monday as soon as the dr saw her! Horrible experience for an 18 yr old who was not doing great but was not in danger. It was a very bad decision on the drs part and he spoke to her and me and got her the hell out!

I especially love the psychological analysis you detail and behaviors to look for it almost feels like taking a college course. Thanks for your all your hard work!

    I was cleaning listening to this and when Emma said “imagine your partner asking you about bodies fitting in plastic totes and decomposition, I said to my dog “I would be thinking what have they got planned for us?” A minute later Emma said “I would be thinking my god they’re gonna kill me!” 😂 I think that’s why Emma’s so loved. She’s just like the lot of us.

    As a mother of a special needs child, my first thought is that there’s no way I’d get rid of him for a dude. I told my fiance up front that were a package deal. You take all 3 of us or you get none of us. I expect my children to be loved more than myself.

    Why did I think your sweatshirt was a Jim Jones reference?

    • @Vexarax
      @Vexarax Před 6 měsíci +1

      It sadly is but I think she misunderstood it? “Don’t drink the kool-aid” is a saying meaning “don’t do something stupid because someone told you to” but it comes from when people thought everyone at Jonestown _chose_ to drink it.
      However we know now (from the recordings) that they were all crying and screaming and trying to escape, even little kids :c Over 900 people lost their lives 😢
      So it’s a really, really bad idea for a shirt design. There are quite a few upset comments just here, so I imagine it would go down even worse wearing it around town. One of her followers might innocently buy it and be wearing it around not knowing the true horrors behind that saying, and people might pull them for it.
