I always felt sorry for the poor landlord, who basically had his reputation ruined for the rest of his life, because he was a bit odd and displayed weird behaviour. They had no evidence against him, and the poor man was vilified by the press, even though he had done nothing.

I’m a court clerk, you would not believe the amount of monsters that walk our streets, and how they are treated like innocent misunderstood people in court. I’ve watched several walk out with not even a slap on the wrist , then come back a couple of months later for the same thing and still no consequences. I’m never gonna understand

Thankfully the poor guy looks very different now. I saw him interviewed not long ago. He said that time in his life was really bad and he'd put on weight, his hair had grown and he looked dreadful which is why I think he was so memorable looking as he looked weird. He now looks much better, but yes, that picture of his face at that time is ingrained in peoples memories

I’ve heard kids screaming and what I thought was saying help me, I ran to the front door and looked around. It turned out to be kids coming home from school and just playing around so the guy who thought he heard the words help me and did nothing, there’s no excuse. I was willing to run and help someone who I thought screamed help me. I’m incredibly weak and mostly bedridden because of CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) so I don’t think I would have been able to fight someone off but I was willing to help someone regardless. No excuses.

I remember my grandma being so scared for me to get the bus home late at night from that job. We were all glued to it unfolding from start to finish. A horrible outcome… with an added bitterness of her being found on Christmas Day. I think of her every December. Rest in peace, Joanna.

I mentioned this to my Ma like a child would and she told me that I should mind my own business that people are different or want to be left alone and that we should respect that. This! People just don't want to get involved sadly. There are so many reasons for this.
I straight out just scream fire and I taught my kid to do the same. People might not run to help, but they are more likely to phone any sort of authority.

I can remember all of this unfolding because of it being Christmas time I think it was more poignant and stuck in my mind as being so very very sad, any murder is tragic but when it was like this young woman was killed in such horrific circumstances and the time of year as well 😢😢 and of course Christopher Jeffries being hounded the way he was.

Also, for really defending the rights and dignity of Christopher Jefferey, also very sad how his life was forever affected and changed by this. They say time is a big healer but I kind of disagree with this. I think we just learn to put certain things in a box and try not to think about them. Sometimes we take them out of the box and all the grief is just as raw as it was from years ago but at least you can put it back in the box. I hope that you find your box so you can hold on to that grief but learn to live alongside it. Many hugs and hopes for the future xx

@@user-kp2do5ie1cthat’s so awful 😞 May he rest in peace. Garry Newlove’s murder is more well known as his widow campaigns for victims’ rights and is now a member of the House of Lords. He came out of his house to speak to a gang of teens who were causing havoc in the street and he got kicked to death. Mark’s murder was extremely bloody and horrific. There were drugs involved (personal use) so I guess he was putting himself at risk to some degree but he didn’t deserve what happened to him. I used to chat to him often and happened to be walking past when they were taking his body away. There was a documentary released last year and it brought it all back. May all the victims rest in peace.

The sadness I feel is I literally knew and have watched mini TV story and true crime documentary all about the man that was falsley accused. I am 100% In support for the validation of how it has damaged his reputation and ruined his life. But with all due respect I in all of this did not know or here about the details of this beautiful young woman Joanna. Thank you for giving this case the respect and care explaining the details of her tragic murder.
