The hieroglyphs are real but it isn't in Egyptian. They simply wrote out the English lyrics in hieroglyphic script using one-consonant phonetic signs. Still a really nice little piece of attention to detail. The animator did a phenomenal amount of research into Ancient Egyptian society and culture and it really shows, obviously the Exodus story itself is not true, but the historical backdrop was very artfully and accurately presented.

Besides from telling the whole story of the escape from Egypt, I feel like there is a lot of deep symbolism in this that I do not get. Like for example: ancient Egypyian paintings are always profiles, as they thought seeing the whole face would mean the painting would come to life. Moses, Aron and Death are not side profiles. And the burning bush (god) has leaves that switch between eyes and mouths. There is probably a lot more detailes I missed. Edit: the middle part where the firstborns are dying and goes to the eternity, there are a lot of references to the Egyptian religion and view of death.

The "40 years" thing appears in the Bible several times, and appears to mean "a very long time", not literally a period of that length. Remember that most people then were uneducated rural folks who probably could count to only 12 or thereabouts. It's just like we refer to "bazillion" something, witch really means Something Incomprehensibly Enormous In Number, not some literal figure.

@mariabop The bible records things that should be logically impossible to record unless a divine omnipotent being was involved in the creation. In genesis 1:20-24 evolution is recorded, and in ecclesiastes 1:6 Solomon knows about the Earth's wind currents (despite wind currents not being understood until the modern era)

@@jtohgaming No it is not. We know it isn't and we can prove it isn't. If you believe anything else you are just another blind zealot, who refuses at accept the truth, sorry. There are some accurate historical dates in the bible, but many are not accurate, when cross-referenced with other sources. Many of the events described in the bible likely never occured. There is no evidence for them having occured and thus tgey cannot be proven to have occurred. With regard to Genesis not only do we have no evidence of thing being created as Genesis describes. We have strong evidence disproving that thibgs happened the way Genesis describes them.
