I just recently re-acquired my late 90's rc10gt racer. A-main race chasis, os max .12cv with the O'Donnell round head, knife edge crank, and con rod. Titan Tech rear brace. ron paris turbo ring pipe. T3 front arm conversion. pro-line slim f150 body. Mip ball bearing steering, cvd's, clutch, and front bumper. carbon shock towers, Tin shock shafts, lunsfords, 4.5 deg billet rear arm carrier's, billet rear bulkhead. all stuff that is pretty rare today apparently. I cant wait to get it running again.
We definitely need this class to make a comeback. Nitro racing is missing its "budget class" so to speak, because these trucks used to require only half the budget an 1/8 requires. I'm currently waiting on Ignites exhaust setup to come back in stock and then my 22 conversion is ready.
Totally agree! Allthough I do not consider this one to be "budget class" of you add the costs of the 3 items you get to a base price of 918 dollar, without required accessories to get it running, transmitter, nitro, shipping etc.
It is a wonderfull vehicle though!

Well, this particular vehicle wouldn't be a budget vehicle, but there is a cheaper way to get into the class.
Problem is it requires giving money to Traxxas. But back in the day the JATO was competitive against the Associated GT2 and outclassed the original GT and the XXX-NT. Granted, that's partially because it and the GT2 were the only actually modern platforms in the class at the time, the original GT was ancient at that point and the XXX-NT wasn't much better. As for today, I'd argue it's still competitive, as modern-day 1/10th scale platforms have developed in a direction that makes them less suitable for the rough outdoor tracks that nitro models run on. Anyway, you'd have to treat it effectively as a roller since the stock equipment is a joke, but that still makes a race-prepped JATO 3.3 significantly cheaper than an Ignite conversion TLR or Associated.
Go old school with the drippy paint scheme! It will go well with the oily mess you'll end up with after a day of running!

i totally agree here, this class or style/type RC really needs to come back to the market.
It is by far the most fun, agile and last but not least it is the type of fast you don't expect from a stadium truck!
We have a handful of "gas trucks" still in my area... one local regularly races his in Mod Truck class, with a 4-stroke...that truck is the coolest ever...

Yup I used to run RC10Gt with a picco engine! Truck just screamed . It was the only nitro I ever race/ran. I was very young 12/13yrs old. Stopped pretty much due to lack of money. And I choose to continue with indoor clay track racing with my T2 and T3. SoCal raceway in Huntington Beach was the only track and racing going on in my area. Anyways I’ve always loved stadium trucks more than any buggy. I still run my T6 today and enjoy it more than my B6.3 nothing beats user friendly to me.

I loved this class back in the day. I still have my RC10GT from almost 20 years ago.
I had one o the very first rc10gt that hit the shelf s from the ranch pit shop ! they didn't even have starter boxes yet we had to use a airplane starter with a big wheel on it!
I want Nitro Stadium trucks to come back i mean we have Jato 3.3 and Nitro Rustler thankfully but it be nice to see losi release one.
It died because ROAR in their infinite wisdom dropped 1/10 gas truck from the Nationals to bring in 1/8 e classes. 1/10 gas truck is the most fun I’ve ever had with an rc car. Wish I still had my gt2.

Especially since the 22t is a tough truck, this may be pretty fun! What really sucked about nitro truck was they were so fragile!

It will be nothing like a 8xte. For starters its nitro not electric and 2wd not 4wd. Also its 1/10 not 1/8. Theres alot of diffrences.
I would love to see you bring back one of the original TLR xxxnt driver’s schemes! I still run a GT blue pan with Chad at Fastlane and love trying to hang with these kits. These are the cheapest and most competitive way to get into nitro and once winter comes around, pop the Electric kit back on and have a normal truck!

I concur w the Kinwald paint scheme. Was looking online today about the Dudgeon nitro conversions for the LXT before Team Losi started making their own kits. I wanted to do that to my LXT when I was in high school but my local track wasn’t quite running nitro truck yet.
OH HELL YEAAAA!!! I'm for sure getting this conversion!!! Ryan, obviously you have to do the paint scheme that was on the box of either the AD1 or AD2 XXX-NT kits, ya gotta man!!!

i think if people start showing up with nitro trucks and they just throw them in with the electrics, it will spread and eventually there will be enough to make their own class. has the potential to grow if there is already a strong electric truck class showing

I once owned an RC10GT RTR. It was a real hoot, once I upgraded it to race spec.
A jumping fool.
For color schemes, I used Autographics decals (remember them?) to create more scale appearing bodies. They looked great.
But then, today's bodies are anything but scale.
1/10 scale gas truck as a racing class would be a tough sell, I think.
Electric is too good these days.

As for paint, I would try a two tone blue scheme with a Sonic the Hedgehog style curving. Then maybe separate the blues with some pin striping. I ran that on my slash a couple times when I still had it.

interesting how this class is still a topic in the US. Even in the 90s and early 2000s when it was attracting huge entries in the US it never featured in Europe and to the day it is virtually unheard of by all but the die hard racers that follow US racing as well

Great VT. As an out sider from the UK looking in, I have always liked the patriot thing, stars and stripes. You guys always rock at that. Would you want to cover it up though? I mean just look at it, really nice chassis.
A great conversion kit (they also make one for the AE T6.1/2) with top notch components. However, with the cost of the Losi/AE kit AND the conversion, not a cheap option and fairly complex (not a criticism!). What I'm hoping is that this helps reboot this class and both Losi and AE come out with new nitro kits. As for the body, definitely a Kinwald inspired paint scheme 👍
I don't see any _current_ racing companies ever giving 1/10th scale nitro truck another try. The problem is that their team drivers would refuse to run the class, it's a 1/10th scale 2WD class that has to run on outdoor dirt tracks, and a lot of drivers these days see that as unacceptable for 1/10th scale, they insist on indoor sealed clay or carpet now where you can't run nitro. If we get a new purpose-built 1/10th scale nitro truck kit, it'd have to be either by an entirely new company (I could see Ignite coming out with their own down the road) or by one of the Japanese companies like Tamiya or Kyosho, since the Japanese market tends to be more friendly to "niche" classes.

A spec nitro rustler class is the cheapest way to revive nitro stadium trucks. Remove the ez start, change the tires and put them on track.
