Thank you so much for posting this. As a lifelong Canadiens fan, the 1971 playoffs were the most memorable, primarily because of Ken Dryden, but Frank Mahovlich could easily have been awarded the Conn Smythe trophy: 14 goals 13 assists, which I believe at that time was a record
Pete was a magnificent personality. Could've been a great broadcaster, if this was ever actually aired (Pete and his shameless plug likely cinched it never being seen). Awesome commercial for Big "M" Travel!
This is awesome. The Big M is my all-time favorite player and he's so chill. I love how he refuses to buy into a "turning point" narrative. Instead it's everyone working hard, every game, that brought out the series win over the Big Wheel.
This is gold.

Cournyoer beat mahovolichs record in 1973 against the same black hawks I remember it like it was yesterday
The Big M was the best player in that year's playoffs.
Great interview! Thanks!

He was a broadcaster for the Habs on radio for a time and wasn't very good.
I saw them play as a kid in Montreal
Pete scored one of the greatest goals I ever seen and that was in the 72 Summit series. In fact Pete in my opinion should be in the hall of fame.

Must have been a relief to play for the Canadiens after his run-ins with Punch in Toronto.
Too bad Leaf fans did the same to him that they are now doing to Marner. I sometimes wonder where Leaf fans left the brains.
