Witnessing two of the best guitarists on the planet (and I don't think that's overstating it one bit) work their magic together on one of the greatest songs of the last few decades... What a privilege to behold. 🥰🤘Thanks for posting. It must have been amazing to be there in person.
@@apagoogootwo7552 Yeah. I heard that one gig he wasn't using a pick, or an amp, or even a guitar. He was, like, just concentrating really, really hard. And somehow it was still completely killin'. Wish I'd have been there...
Derek is absolutely the master - direct descendant from Duane, the other master. I don't think any other 2 players on this planet have ever produced more beautiful, transcendent music. EVER.
I had the pleasure of bartending that beautiful evening and this was certainly THE highlight of the show. Thank you Wilco, Derek and your wonderful fans
I made the mistake of listening to this while I was at work, and so I was crying at work. It took me a half an hour to fully regain my composure. How can a single piece of music be so devastatingly beautiful? I sing and play drums in my band. Just once before I die, I would love to play this on stage. Though, I know I could never sing it. I can, and have, played drums while crying. In 2020, on the anniversary of John Lennon's passing, we played a Lennon song. I couldn't see a thing, but I didn't miss a beat. That would be me playing this song on stage, too.
Damn! I've seen Wilco live 11 times, I've seen them perform this song 11 times, but this is really special. I hope this crowd knows how lucky they were.
Nils cline joined TTB for an entire set at Red Rocks in 2022. It was magic. This brings them back together and my hope then and now is an album and tour.
Thanks for recording this and holding the camera steady. Both guitarists were great. Derek Trucks is one of the greats like Carlos Santana or Miles Davis.
So satisfying seeing a player on Nels' level being pushed and inspired by having DT out there with him. You need your A Game. And Trucks? He has such an outstanding sense of melody, he can make himself a part of any situation he's dropped into. Outstanding
@@johnketterer8146 Derek speaks very highly of Nels and it's just a matter of perspective who is pushing who....yet Derek's playing is just trancendental because he sings through his instrument. But it's a moot comparison because there's things that Nels does that Derek doesn't and also nothing is better than Derek with another guitarist like Nels or Susan Tedeschi!!
Two of the greatest guitarist alive sharing the stage. Woaw!! (don't get me wrong, I love Pat and Jeff too, but Nels and Derek are really something else).
Does it get any better than this ? Thank you for capturing this magical moment. Real musicality...I get so tired of turning on the radio and being swamped by quantised beats, auto-tuned vocals, virtual instruments and dull as ditch-water rhymes.
I love Derek trucks but... Nels Cline plays the greatest guitar solo of all time on Impossible Germany . it changes every night. it doesn't matter which night, it's still the greatest solo of all time.
Good God of goosebumps. Derek's the exact person I thought'd be nice to inter-play Nels' solo; as his solo in 'Midnight in Harlem' is moving, in the same epic-manner... and up-pops this video w/o even searching for it.
i guess Derek was returning favor..i saw TTB at Red Rocks in 2021 and second set started out with Allman Bros songs and Nels played whole 2nd set!! incredible!!
Always stunning is Derek. They’re all great musicians but it’s a case of everyone turning to look at him playing as he’s on a different level, unmissable
When I first heard this song I thought "well, these guitars sound like the Allman Bros". And here it comes, Derek Trucks putting even more sparkle on it :)
California Stars was killer too. czcams.com/video/gL6s-cZxd70/video.html
That’s the song Wilco usually have friends sit in on. I’ve never heard of anyone sitting in on Impossible Germany. Huge sign of respect.

Totally agree. Master class.
Derek trucks, no pedals, just the bridge pickups on the SG, he's transcendent, it's past technique, it's art,its moving.
For CERTAIN!
and no pick.

I absolutely love how Jeff is just hanging out, strumming chords and watching the fireworks. Must be amazing…
Derek Trucks is probably my favourite player ever and Nels is very close to that. This is magic

They couldn't have picked a better song or a better guest. WOW!
Over lunch today, I was raving about two things: Impossible Germany and Derek Trucks. Thank you, universe.
This is the equivalent of King Kong And Godzilla having a friendly jam session that ends up setting Tokyo on fire.

That show was absolutely unreal
A TTB/Wilco double bill tour would be pretty much the best thing ever to happen.
I was at that show, can confirm. A great night in the rain
btw, it was actually 2021
That's just about as much awesome as I can take in eight minutes.
That call and response action was just incredible.
6:15 I did NOT think they’d hit that solo transition cue together - I was NOT expecting them to harmonize! Amazing!
same
Nels missed Derek's first cue but caught the next. I did feel it started getting a little ragged there...
Dude is a G. Never misses
Jeff is having the time of his life haha
Holy Shit! It's guitar heaven...
I went to this show and two nights of billy strings after, best three nights of music ever so happy derek made an appearance
Derek reduces me to tears...what a beautiful player...mind you Nels is also incendiary......
Incendiary!
@@terraaquafirma6631Incendiary !!
Derek Truck solos, I turn up the volume. I’m a simple man.
What a treat, Nils and Derek blowing my mind together.
Thanks for recording this and holding the camera steady. Both guitarists were great. Derek Trucks is one of the greats like Carlos Santana or Miles Davis.
I generally don't post "negative" comments, but... Personally, I would not put Carlos Santana on the level of a Derek Trucks or Miles Davis.
@@jdguitar1040I would agree, but Song Of The Wind is special. Of course he had a young Neal Schon on that record.✌️
I do remember miles being a superior guitar player

I think of it as Derek being pushed by Nels.. either way... both are compliments... excellent

I'm putting Nel's in that catagory with Jack and Warren and Carlos and Eric, they understand Derek wants to play with you not at you
well said.
@@chrissiler6075 I’m assuming you mean Jack Pearson.
thank you for uploading this! didn’t thank Impossible Germany could ever get any better
This solo belongs in a museum!!!
Transcendent. Thank you for this.
Jeff seems to be happy! All seem to be happy. And I'm happy, too! Just wonderful. Thank you very much
What a great spot you planted yourself in last night! Thanks so much for capturing and sharing.
The best Wilco tune with the best modern guitar player sittin in. Thanks for posting
Wow! two of the best modern guitar players killing it together on an epic solo. Thanks for posting
This song seems to get put on my Spotify list a lot because its so fucking awesome
Two of my favorite guitarist playing Wilcos best,,, and Tweedy just looking on in awe. Thank you. Wonder if there will be an official video?
Fingers crossed Wilco releases this show as a roadcase (master board recording of the show)
Wow. Beautiful blend with Derek

Derek is a talent that only adds to pretty much any musical ensemble.

Derek and Nils, two of my favorite!
Thanks for this!
wow, so beautiful and incredible
Two of the most talented!! I can’t believe what I am listening to . Chills all around.
This is guitar heaven, DT sound and playing compliments Nel's amazingly
Derek always brings out the best in others. I saw Nels with Julian Lage in a very small venue it was incredible. Same vibe here.
nice. was there on the right side of the stage. great show and beautiful night at the amphitheater.
you know what would kick ass, is a phil & friends lineup with derek and nels. that'd be so cool
I wish I could like this video twice for the song and Derek. holy dueling guitars
I love Derek trucks but... Nels Cline plays the greatest guitar solo of all time on Impossible Germany . it changes every night. it doesn't matter which night, it's still the greatest solo of all time.
great sound on this recording.
So glad he finally tuned up

Was already in tears after 2 notes from DT
Derek Trucks is the undisputed new king of slide guitar. I bet Duane Allman would like his style (if he was still alive).

Wow! What a treat! Derek is a monster and Nels..well, Nels is a mutant😁
Absolute monster

Amazingly beautiful work by these giants
Ohhhh my stars! Heavenly are these two together 🎸✨🎸🔥

dang that was fun. i also loved derek trucks going up against warren haynes.
Derek is The Man!
I was there at that show, it was fucking great and I am glad they played If I ever was a child.
Absolutely magic!!!
I applaud the structural engineers of the hall because surely the roof was about to be blown off. Just the best.
That speaks for itself.
Outstanding!!
This fell into my feed.. BEAUTIFUL ! THANK-YOU.
Awesome Murphy! VOP for life
I was at this concert last week. Awesome recording. Thanks for posting. California Stars was phenomenal as well with DT. Nils and DT shredded.
Man. It's amazing (in a good way) how they worked through that. Truly excellent. It had to have been fun for all. Highly admire these folks.

two of my faves. the rig rundown vids for both of these guitarists are great.
Beautiful. A little "Elizabeth Reed" from Derek around 2:10.
One of my favorite solos. Cool to see this.
Perfect capture. Place performers and pure chance. Thank you for sharing.
Love watching these two dissimilar both excellent guitar players appreciating one another
This might possibly be the best live version of this song… wow

Right up there with the best of Stills-Young.
