Derek Trucks is one of the tiny number of guitarists, who can do Justice to the songs that Jeff Beck made his own. A wonderful performance from a brilliant musician.
"justice" debatable, noisy attack comparatively and none of the nuance or savagery that JB had at any moment, that said, nobody ever has, it's a useless comparison...he did a good job "in tribute" and that's where it ends
It's hard to appreciate the amount of work it would have taken Derek Trucks to work out that track...all of Jeff Beck's nuances coupled with putting his own spin on it, what a fantastic tribute.
Effortless mastery of the guitar is Derek's lifelong gift to all of us, just as Jeff blessed us with his mastery. Derek's volume control, mimicking Jeff's tremolo artistry, and seamless shifting between slide and finger painting is astonishing. This is respect.
Given the umbelievable muusic gift he has, I wouldn't be surprised if he took him like half an hour. Dereks solo on Joyful Noise literally stopped me dead in my tracks the first time I heard it. I physically pulled the car over to try and take it in. It was like Aretha was singing or something. The style he has developed is simply unbelievable. Yes he plays guitar, but the man is not a guitarist, he’s a musician. And I absolutely mean that as a complement!
Derek and Jeff both pick with their fingers, both control volume, feedback and tone through their hand and both have an otherworldly creativity that is, well, practically impossible to do justice to with words
The real tribute to Jeff here is the amount of time Derek must have put in practicing this and working this out. Both Jeff and Derek as masters of the instrument put in hard hard work in practicing so it pays off in an effortless performance - and this is as effortless looking as anything Jeff did. God Bless Jeff Beck.

How good is Derek Trucks !!!!!
He was the perfect pick for this song
Derek is a dominant player of lead guitar and quite obviously a gifted student of the blues and slide.
Thanks for posting this. Derek is just so damn good and what a great tribute to Jeff.
Tear it up Derek!! Doing Jeff so proud. Phenomenal.
One of the greatest guitar players alive today
What a fabulous tribute . Wired is one of my top favourite albums . Derek is an amazing guitarist and privileged to see him live late 2022 , absolutely jaw dropping , could only giggle and smile what I was witnessing ..Truly memorable ❤
Love the Wired album . Saw Jeff with Jan Hammer at the Palladium in NYC. What a magnificent showWent with friends who came from Lowell Massachusetts to visit & they invited me to show 😊
@@fredsinger3894 you were very lucky Fred ..❤️👍🥰
Derek did a great job replicating and expressing this tune, going "outside" as Jeff did so wonderfully, in his own way. As well as playing the melody of the song so beautifully.
Charles Mingus surely would approve too.
Music at its best should stir the listeners heart and evoke a higher spirit in us 🎉. 🕉
Unbelievable. Outstanding tribute to JB. So much emotion in Derek's playing. Brings tears of joy to my eyes.
I shut my eyes and all I could hear was Jeff Beck. Well done Derek.
A guitar legend is playing for another guitar legend!
Derek Trucks is best slide player working today .. he learned an awful lot from the Sky Dog
Clearly the world's best slideman !!
One of the best, if not the best and the Tedeschi - Truxks band is the best band on tour today , great live show
Derek just keeps getting better by the year as most great guitar players do!
the best performance at the tribute by far !!!
He’s been carrying the blood of the ABB RE ‘uncle butch trucks’ and sound of Duane for years and nobody is more unique yet respectful than trucks tedesci to those that came before
Rolling Stone magazines most recent list on the top 250 guitarists of all times had Trucks @ no. 85. Really.? Go figure. More like top 10 IMHO. Outstanding tribute here to another top 10 guitarist. Rip Jeff Beck.
ive seen Derek Trucks( with Tedeschi Trucks Band) so many times that I've lost count , but always worth coming back for more. The best alive IMO, got to believe Beck is smiling down on that version of Porkpie
me too! What an incredible band! And Derek...........................................
like beck, nobody sounds like him. the highest compliment for a musician.
Derek is amazing, he really has all the elements, have probably seen this clip 30 times and give me chills every time
J P's uploads of the many JB tribute performances are the best.
Derek could have done a note for note copy....as he's done with the entire ABB catalogue....this was so much better that he improvised his own take on it. BRAVO!
Thank you, Derek. This is uniquely suited to Jeff.
