After a bit of time off, we returned to groundhopping with a trip to Herefordshire to see Westfields FC in action. A truly lovely club with a absolute legend in founding member Andy Morris who showed us behind the scenes, and an all-round superb welcome.

What a couple of days. Two AFC Finners videos. Got to see you and Tomaldo opening gifts. The lads are back going G2G with a return to Hereford. Andy Morris, what a legend. He basically oozed the club out of every pore. It was fascinating to listen to the passion as he talked about his club. This is why we love this game. Please let me know when the AFC Finners merch is available as I would be interested in one of those decals for my truck. So glad to hear Tomaldo was impressed by Orlando FC. He should try Seattle, Columbus, or Atlanta next time. All 3 have off of the charts atmosphere. Keep up the great work lads.

Dude, at this level it's not sustainable to maintain a niche (veggie/vegan) option. For you to mark them down for your own niche preferences is harsh.
I like that you go and spend your money and time at these small clubs, it's good you give them exposure, but the "no vegetarian options" becomes tedious.
Hi, I do understand that it's no easy to have a wide array of option, but in regards to Westfields, they probably had about 5/6 pie options on the menu, they could easily have swapped and/or added something like cheese and onion that is veggie but is something people who eat meat could enjoy too.
A lot of clubs I have gone to cook frozen burgers, so it would be easy for them to buy a pack of veggie ones to chuck in the freezer in case they are needed, if they don't get used, they're still in the freezer and it was only a fiver. There are some veggies who refuse to eat burgers that have been cooked on the same surface as meat, a decision I respect but don't abide to myself as the people cooking them don't get paid enough to commit that much.
I personally wouldn't describe vegetarian as a niche preference as it is a lot more common these days and I have seen many more places with veggie options. Whilst not ideal, I do agree that catering things such as vegan/gluten free is beyond what clubs can offer at this level, unless incorporated into veggie option. I just don't think having a veggie burger/pie available is something that would severely dent the club's finances.
@@afcfinners thanks for a reply, and a reasoned and well constructed one at that. I'm not here to attack you, or your channel. I am here to call into question the ratings you give despite your justifcation for the reasoning.
Of course veggie and especially vegan is a niche option. It just is. Maybe they should have a cheese and onion pasty etc. I'm not vegan or veggie but it's what I'd choose more often than not. I wouldn't rate lower without it's availabilty. If it's chips and a mars bar? Well, that's £3 or so in their coffers. It's proper grass roots. You see my point?
As for veggie burgers? At this level? Really? Who would ask for one? You I suppose. No offence. They probably have that low level of demand it doesn't even enter their mind. So a 2/10 etc (and it's not the first time I've seen it) seems really harsh.
I like your GTG vlogs. I've subscribed. I like you spend your time and money as I said going to minor clubs in the South West. But I dunno, the food rating annoys me as you're not being totally fair.

I do agree a cheese & onion pasty would be a good option, just something that is universal but also veggie friendly.
Chips and a mars bar is fine, it's just from a personal standpoint it can be a bit frustrating seeing people have loads of pies/burgers available but only chips for me. I do love chips, but don't want to have them at every game, and a pie is more filling. I do appreciate there may be low demand, so again I think if they just bought some frozen burgers to have just in case would not dent their finances. For example, a 2-pack of Linda Mccartney mozarella burgers costs about £2.50. If the club has it in the freezer for a few months but then sells one for £3, they've already made their money back. Also for example at Bristol Manor Farm, they had cup-a-soup options available, but they were all meat ones, it would be very easy to get a vegetable one, as Lydney did as I recall. Some clubs like Cribbs and Malvern do a cheese roll which is nice and easy and I’m happy with that as a veggie option.
I of course appreciate that there's only so much a club can offer so for example, whilst the veggie burger at Boreham Wood was not the highest quality, it was the thought that I appreciated.
Regarding the ratings, these clubs are going up against the likes of Old Trafford and Villa Park. It may seem harsh to give a Hellenic club a low rating when compared to a Premier League side, but in my opinion I feel it would be patronising to say "here's some bonus points because you aren't Man United."
Westfields have responded positively to my video on Twitter and said they will take feedback on board, I hope to help clubs improve and if any of them wish to discuss veggie options or anything I'd be more than happy to discuss with them. Again I appreciate there are limited resources but I think a veggie option is easy to have.

I completely disagree with this, and the thinking behind it. These clubs are absolutely not going up against Premiership Teams. No way. Not ever. That's part of the appeal of your channel to me, as I've said. You go and see the little teams in the south west.
If you are judging them by football league club standards your criteria is flawed.
Good for Westfields and any other club that humours you. I imagine they'll have some veggie burgers in the freezer until they get thrown away because nobody asked for them.

@@anthonymaddaford8474 Okay so first things first, regarding the comparison to Prem clubs-For example, I love Malvern's stadium, and preferred it to Fratton Park. But in terms of what is at Fratton Park, it is a better stadium. So it wouldn't make sense to give Malvern say an 8 when Fratton Park it clearly a better stadium and give that a 6. For non-league clubs t6 and below it is mainly about the welcome and value for money. I want to look at the game as a whole, and as much as I enjoy non-league, unfortunately none of the games will ever live up to for example the experience I had at Nottingham Forest. But it doesn't mean I can't have a great day at non-league.
I think it's best we agree to disagree on the veggie thing. I have given my personal opinion to clubs, it's their choice what they serve. But the veggie option doesn't have to be a burger. It can be a cup of soup or a cheese sandwich. Very easy and cheap and I'm sure people would consume them.
Lastly, with your 2/10 comment I assume you are referring to my atmosphere rating as I gave Westfields an 8 for food. Firstly, to be honest with you I am considering scrapping the atmosphere ratings for clubs below step 6 which yes, does contradict my point about comparing to top-flight clubs but there's only so many times I can say the "I didn't come here expecting much of an atmosphere".
With respect to Westfields, there was barely an atmosphere at all other than loud cheers when they scored and a passionate fan shouting encouragement near us. That score was an honest assessment of what I saw and I can't give any rating other than that. Even if I did adjust atmosphere for the level it's at it would not get a good score for atmosphere, however I have been very positive about the club with my other ratings, including a 10 for the welcome, a score I very rarely give out. At the end of the day, Westfields enjoyed the review and overall seem very happy with it, to me that is what matters.
