    You didn't get a free drink & programme, it was included in the price you paid to see Manchester City play the other evening. The original Maine Road also played host to concerts such as; David Bowie and hometown heroes Oasis. It's good what supporters clubs are doing these days, it brings communities together.

    It is interesting how fans of big clubs in England start new, smaller clubs similar to the original ones for various reasons. Here in the Czech Republic, it works differently in a way. Here were enthusiasts who supported the biggest teams in the Czech Republic, Sparta or Slavia, and decided to found a club in their city and name it after their favorite club from Prague. So just for example, Sparta Prague fans in a small town called Úpice founded a football club and sent a request to Sparta Prague if their club could be called Sparta Úpice. If Sparta Praha complied with such a request, the club was named after her and thus the Sparta Úpice club still exists today. And all over the Czech Republic, there are a lot of clubs from smaller towns with the name Sparta or Slavia, because they got permission to use that name from big clubs in Prague.

    • @niismo.
      @niismo. Před rokem

      BRO Sparta Upice is apparrently 103 years old, that's mental

    • @vojtechkostovski951
      @vojtechkostovski951 Před rokem

      @@niismo. yes Úpice is 20 km away from where I live. And yes Sparta Úpice was founded in 1919. And later they ask Sparta Prague for approval to use name Sparta. Sparta Prague was founded in 1893, so along side their rivals from Slavia Prague they are one of the oldest clubs in Europe. If you don’t count English and Scottish clubs which for obvious reasons were founded sooner.

    • @vojtechkostovski951
      @vojtechkostovski951 Před rokem

      @the Game, Review and Reallife Channel It may seem weird but small clubs all over the Czech Republic want take name of bigger clubs. Sometimes founders of this smaller clubs were supporters of Sparta or Slavia so they want the same name for their hometown football club.

    The street called Maine Road got its name from the American state of Maine. Temperance advocates from Manchester gave it that name because Maine once outlawed alchoholic beverages well before the national Prohibition of the 1920's.

    Love your vlogs , I think if your doing non league clubs , you should do one from Ashton under Lyne. They have two non league teams in the small East Manchester town . One is Curzon Ashton , the other is Ashton United . There's plenty of famous professional players from Ashton , including World Cup winners Geoff Hurst (England 1966), Jimmy Armfield, Simone Perrotta ( won with Italy 2006) , Mark Robins (man united) , Trevor Ross ( Arsenal & Everton ) . Rob Holden (Arsenal) .

      It's also only about 15 minutes drive from the Etihad Stadium . There's statues outside of Curzon Ashtons ground of the 3 world Cup winners from the town . A great story about Simone Perrotta was he was born and brought up in the town (his mum & Dad ran the local pub Yatess wine Lodge, he had trials at local clubs but nothing materialised, before going to Italy and got signed up by Roma , then played centre midfield for Italy in the 2006 world Cup final . You could say he's the latest English born player to win the world Cup..

    Why not visit Meadowbank, home of Shortwood United, the other club in Nailsworth...the Gloucestershire town that is home to Forest Green Rovers, who are probably the smallest club ever to have played in the the Football League. It is believed that the entire population of the town could fit inside their two football grounds, with room to spare. Just under ten years ago they reached the First Round of the FA Cup and their home game against Port Vale was broadcast live on TV. Shortwood currently play in the Hellenic League, roughly the same level as Maine Road FC, but their ground ranks amongst one of the most picturesque I have ever visited and the welcome amongst the friendliest.

    My best mate plays for Maine Road. Big up Joe Keyworth. P.s. he's says he's a red but he's clearly a blue at heart lol.

      There’s been them before, they’re completely different clubs tho, FC Utd are a protest club and lots of Utd fans chose to ditch Man Utd for them.
      Maine Road FC is just a bit of fun and most City fans haven’t even heard of them.
