I'm in no way a Borden fan, can't stand the guy but he got screwed. Forget the fact that the pole sitter got on the gas and pushed high, Borden and everyone on the inside row was in line, the pole sitter was high. Waiting 20 laps to penalize him was the complete wrong move. Any track/series across the United States would have thrown the yellow on the back stretch and penalize the driver for the restart. Nothing can be done, the damage has already been done and if Lincoln raced tonight, Borden would be back there racing.

I counted nine cars lower than Borden. It should have just been a complete restart. No penalties or position changes and it was the pole sitter that changed his lane moving up. How would any driver know what the pole position driver is gonna do at the start. Just drop the green and let them run.

The penalty isn't the problem it is definitely waiting 20 laps.

Glad you went iino detIl about the LINCOLN penalty call. We were there in the stands and WOW ! Did it make a wave of controversy throughout the place! We have headsets tuned into the one way COMs, and the rules you showed on the screen are told to the drivers by race control just before they take the green. However if he stayed in line I think he would have run over the leader. Spot on that the track should not have waited AT ALL to assess the penalty.

If Lincoln's track rule is that ALL cars must be nose to tail when the leaders get to the start line, then every start to every race this year should have been called back. Re-watch the start of the 6/15 or 6/1 sprint car features on Flo. The third-starting cars on both nights were well below the pole sitter at the stripe. Part of the problem is that the start line is located as cars are exiting a turn. When a sprinter hits the throttle, the cars (all of them) jump to the left. Virtually impossible to stay nose to tail.

If the 23 is indeed to "stay within the tire tracks" he would've ran into the side of the car outside row 2. This will cost Lincoln some money in the form of fewer fans and possibly racers. The 39 car did not maintain his initial arc at throttle up. And yes, a flagman is THE chief referee in this instance and would've been THE person to call out the infraction immediately by throwing the green and going yellow to start the event over with whatever penalties levied. I don't care if the consortium of officials agreed or not, the poor decision was magnified exponentially by the "committee's" timing.
Good luck Lincoln, you're going to need it.

We watched that highlight vid. The first thing my missus said was, "they give him the penalty now with 9 to go." If a penalty is to be issued, the stewards need to do it within the first few laps of the incident so the driver can still race thereafter. If the stewards have no way of imposing a penalty within 3 laps, don't do it afterwards: throw a yellow and put the offender back a row.

Especially now in recent years with the ability to watch almost any race in the country within a few hours after they're over on youtube I still can't recall a situation like this. I'm a fan of Borden for sure but I've also known Hartlaub for years, what a mess though.

Yea i dont get why they didnt restart and give the penalty right away like they normally wouldve. Normally if someone jumps at the back of the field they would wait till the next yellow to give the penalty. So idk, something about this seems backwards with the call. Now Im not the smartest pea in the pod, but i know something about that whole deal wasnt right lol. Been seeing questionable calls in recent months across the country. I seen that narc race the other night, and instead of throwing a yellow for a car that was near the bottom of turn 2 that couldnt move, they let them keep racing. If someone wouldve got off turn 2 the wrong way they wouldve probably hurt someone since they were still close to the racing surface. Im suprised nobody seen this, i think it was at greys harbor. Idk, just some questionable things going on recently.

Kody messed up the start, Devon can't stay right on Kody's tail when the 39 is up at the middle of the track and nearly into Campbell. Borden was way out of the nose to tail far before the chalk line- a clear penalty per rulebook. Not knowing the rules of where you race is so 21st century- especially when you have clear 24/7 access to said rules via the internet.
What I do not like about the situation is- tracks and sanctioning bodies- are clearly not communicating with fans and competitors in 2024- and are self-inflicting the black eyes they are receiving.
Many tracks wait until the next yellow to enforce this penalty- they did when we raced in the 1990's until 2014, and they obviously still do today. Lincoln's rulebook is ambiguous regarding this. Skagit Speedway's rulebook is not. Yet Skagit allowed the same glaring jump to occur during the Dirt Cup with no penalty issued. Why is no one talking about that???

By the rules he was out of line. Typically they only throw a caution when the front row botches the start so that's not at all surprising. Sort of a perfect storm because usually it is someone in the rear that's not going to make it to the front so no one cares if they get docked 2 spots. This wasn't that.
The challenge is where do you draw the line on throwing the yellow, do you call it back if someone in 3rd, 4th or 5th row does it or only the 2nd row. Why penalize the front row for someone behind them. It's a lot easier if everyone follows/knows the rules. As noted, fortunately it wasn't a green to checker. Yikes.

And if the race had gone green to checkered with no flag, then what they tell him, he gets third at the end of the race L O L What a joke and how many positions does 39M get penalized for being even lower than Borden? He’s the one who should’ve got two slots back or the white car that messed the whole thing up is the one who should’ve been penalized. He was clearly impeding on the outside lane, I’m gonna say Politics are in play here giving the win to the favorite driver. 🤷‍♂️

Could you please mention on your show that Huset’s will not refund tickets holders for the rain out high bank nationals. It ridiculous. They say it’s rescheduled. How can that be. It doesn’t pay the money and it’s a completely different event. We live in Texas and can’t simply drive to South Dakota again. Plus people have lives and our schedules don’t revolve around a rescheduled car race. Then Huset’s won’t refund our credit card. Please mention this on your show. Put pressure on them to provide refunds. This needs to get out on social media. Boycott Huset’s

His job to give his opinion that’s what his channel is about 🤷‍♂️ PA racing politics + Lincoln is ridiculous for making that call. Of course it was a young West Coast driver that got bent over for the benefit of 39M who was even lower on the track than Borden

Did anybody see anything wrong with the start by anybody - - - WTF kind officiating did we see last night? Didn't Hank Stram call some officials "over officious jerks" in NFL Films ? ? What we saw was unnecessary officiating. Then wait until caution to penalize. If you don't like the start, call it back - nothing new here - - - - - DUH

Glad that Gravel isn't racing this week ! Have grown tired of watching him in post race interviews rubbing up his forehead and then lifting his hat up , putting it back on and repeat during the whole interview. Does tight racing make him this nervous ? Bad habit or nervous reaction ! Oh I left out rubbing his nose in the interview also !
