I love what MS did with the Superhornet cockpit! It's the only way to fly this bird currently. Trevor, keep in mind.. Never have your gear out above 250 knots, that causes damage. Also always have full flaps below 200, and keep your velocity vector inside that "E" bracket in the HUD. That will insure the jet is at the right angle for landing. You don't have to flare really, the Hornet is in a real nose up attitude as it is when she touches down. Keep learning, keep flying!
Flaps should be deployed when below 270 kias and gear deployed below 250 kias. The optimum AoA is 8.1 to 8.3 degrees, which puts the aircraft "On Speed". The intent is more for the proper angle for the the tailhook to catch a wire on the carrier. He also needs to trim for that. Simply flying at the correct speed is not sufficient. You have to trim to keep within the AoA indexer/E bracket. Also when wheel are down he should pull full back on the stick to use the stabilators as additional braking.
@@rjhowlan dcs players i guess hahaha
i dont even know what u just said but alr...
DCS is the most realistic fighter flight sim there is currently
English please
tmar would be a convincing pilot visually. Experientially, terrifying.
Yea🧐
There's a reason they call this style of glasses "aviators" you know...
His name's Trevor.
@@evancollier658 it’s a nick name
excellent observation
The Split S is designed to trade altitude for speed. When landing you dont want speed! Love watching you learn in real time. OH! The other thing is when landing, use throttle to change altitude and changing your angle of attack to control speed. Too fast? nose up. Too high? Throttle down. It's counter intuitive but necessary to understand for success. :)
The aircraft carrier landing teaches these concepts best. When I land on it I'm targeting 120knots, if I want to raise the ball I raise the throttle a bit and vice versa. When landing on it - or + 5 knots will make or break you.
Landing gear out at 500 knots💀
Been loving the MSFS comeback! Excited to watch this.
Trevor never fails to give me a boost in my day when I need it.
Thank You Trevor.
I love the dramatic tension of this whole scene. I was on the edge of my seat with this approach as if you were in a real life situation. Only for it to end with that comical bounce at 29:04. I laughed pretty hard.
This was more like "Edge of Tomorrow" rather than "Top Gun" 🤣️
(And I love it! Great content as usual.)
LMAO! Very funny Magnus, I almost choked on my jelly bellies when I read this! :D Still very entertaining and Trevor is great.... a good time. :)
The accuracy!!
when he said “there is one last thing I wanna do” at 35:05 I thought he was gonna try the aircraft landing again :) but I’m waiting for the separate episode on that love you Trev keep up the great content!
That's coming soon! Already recorded, the road to an A landing 😎
Oh perfect can’t wait!!
I love these MSFS videos. I hope you keep making them even if it’s just a video every few months.
My home Sint Maarten 🫶🇸🇽😎 Proud to be a local 🤘🏽Edit: I must say I love how accurate in detail the game is to our little island !! The bridge he flew over after the touch and go is called the causeway bridge and was built in 2014 to help resolve traffic issues between French Saint Martin and Dutch Sint Maarten !! Pretty cool to see it in game as I drive on it, and under it XD
Hows it like living there?
Never stop making these. Please👍🏻
9:31 Nice job with that Cobra Maneuver! You did it without even knowing it is a special maneuver. Just "A big pull-back."
Landing/takeoff in a commercial jet at Tegucigalpa was the hairiest I’ve ever experienced, in real life, as a passenger.
Literally can't get enough of this Sim, think a Month played, 36hours flight time. Man this is what I'm about! 🤣😂🤣
Pro pilot tip from a ATP Pilot. Keep your descent angle steeper and get some of that energy into the runway. Shallow landings are longer. Great vids. Love the Tomcat as well. Looking forward to that video!
that jacket looks sick asf
He’s going to the danger zone
Man! I actually had the inner ear dizziness thing a couple times on this! That 1440p res Trevor is killing it! Fantastic man.
For the aircraft carrier landing. Manage your descent with power only and don’t change your pitch until right before you touchdown
Beautiful game, i completed Tom Clancy Black Hawk like 5 times a few years ago & it looks a lot like it!
If you start at a higher altitude, and you come in slower, you'll will not only descend at a higher angle (which you need because of the trees), but you'll be flying slower when you reach the runway. Been playing with these flight sims since the 80's. : )
Two tips for you if you want to do this again. 1. Land with PARKING brake on if you know how to enable it, 2. To enable steering on the f18 there will be a red circular button if you push the stick to the right to activate nosewheel steering
Microsoft Flight Simulator gameplay has been so great, great work Trev on all the content.
Awesome video :D Really enjoyed watching each attempt! I kept finding myself leaning left and right when you were coming in for each attempted landing LOL
DCS World for a more accurate "everything" of fighter jets. 135-140Kts full flaps and proper AoA for landing the F/A-18. Gear over-speed is 300kts in that jet, and will break in DCS. FYI, there is no reverse thrust on the F/A-18. This was entertaining nonetheless. Keep flying
When you do shortfield landings, always helps press stick full down after landing = additional elevator drag, helps with reducing airspeed at higher speeds especially, increases stability on the ground too. Risk is nosewheel collapse if done too fast/abrupt. I am not a fighter pilot, but I am an Air Transport, Aerobatics and Bush pilot.
Always love the Flight sim episodes and these Top Gun ones are even better!! Please keep them coming!!
I flew into Grise Fiord (CYGZ) in a Dornier 228 back in january 2019. It was a really cool experience! f you look on the airport diagram it actually has curved approach lighting and a go around bar where you "must be assured of landing" or commence an immediate left turn go around. The airport itself sits right next to the town. It's also one way in and one way out, therefore winds have to be light to nil. Its strange that MSFS didn't include this airport because it was in FSX.
If you love this game you’ll love DCS world way more complex and get to know each aircraft and it’s so fun
He can barely handle MSFS, I doubt he'd manage DCS
@@connorlawd2k11 lol yeah dcs was a huge learning curve I damn near gave up lol
This is amazing, I love the way you were flying the jets.
I'm just imagining a commercial pilot:
"Is our landing gear even down?"
steps outside plane mid-air to check....
Love the MSFS stuff and similarly enamored with fighter jets again. Would you ever try flying some jets in DCS World?
I've been seeing DCS pop up in my CZcams recommended a ton lately
Gonna look into it just worried it'll be overly complicated and take a long time to learn haha
I need to watch some beginner tutorials
@@TmarTn2 in case you want to give it a try, in case that you do not have the steam version, wich i recomend you don't have, you can use trials for the different planes, either low fidelity or full fidelity to try before buying, also once you have chosen one a youtuber i recomend that explains pretty well is thegrimreaper.
“I would be really your surprised unless you’re an absolute Top Gun..” LMAOO. 27:10
Tmartn if you want more fighter jets, you should play DCS. It has more of military aircraft and is much more realistic
I went to Sint Maarten on a cruise once, I wish I had known about Maho Beach at the time, but I just spent the day along Front Street eating food and enjoying the drinks and shopping. If I go back, I'll definitely have to stop by Maho Beach, thanks for the tip.
If you love MSFS and fighter jets then try DCS you'll definitely love it!!!
You are truly a ball of positive energy and this one of the few places on CZcams not associated with drama and crap. Now, I’m very new to PC Gaming but have been playing Flight SIM Games my whole life. This was honestly extremely fun to watch, and while I’m soo happy I’m able to watch you do your thing, I want in on the fun. Can I get this flight SIM Game on a Windows Gaming PC?
Loved this video, especially how honest you are with the attempts lol
Who else isn’t excited about fighter jets after Top Gun!! I loved the Ed Harris reference too!! Keep it up!
Brooo I remember when you originally did the toughest landings!!! Those were such great videos, this is gonna be great!
Just a heads up on Reverse thrust. It actually doesn't change the distance that you'll stop. As an example, if I landed with medium braking and no reverse thrust it'll stop at 'X' if I land with medium brakes and reverse thrust you'll stop at 'X' but the aircraft uses less braking to achieve the same result. It's a way to save brake wear. Really enjoy the videos and the excitement.. With love from an Airline Pilot :)
Hey Tmar I have a good tips for you when landing make sure your 50 over the numbers and on touch down put your yoke all the way down to apply week pressure and have revers out right away when landing
Plus I mean…flaps would help
Was at Maho beach a month ago, the jet blast is way more then you think. Feels like a hurricane!! Beautiful island!!! Very nice locals.
Got his little costume on, mommy is upstairs baking cookies for her little guy.
Hasn't been outside in three weeks.
Bro just his face at 6:09 when he said “we did not have enough speed to split S” 🤣🤣🤣
Sick jacket Trev!! 🤙
Not sure how this came up on my feed. But this is awesome! I need this game in my life immediately!
Please don't stop with the Top Gun content!
I saw top gun yesterday. Holy definitely one of the best action movies of all time. The rare time the sequel is better than the original
Your enthusiasm is 10/10
Trevor- Marty McFly- same energy - awesome 👍
LOVE THE FLIGHT SIM CONTENT. keep it comin :)
Trevor over here snappin necks finding the run way at the beach 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That oh is the most satisfying thing I've heard in ages haha
3:07 nice butter landing.
These videos are wonderful keep up the work
Great vid Trev!! Love the jacket btw 😁
That jacket is flyyyyy!! No pun intended lol
28:51 that heli landing xD
love the flight sim videos. hope you continue these
I would love to see more of microsoft flight simulator
Goes off runway and into the ocean....
"We made it."
🤣🤣🤣
I believe the F-18 Super Hornet became a bit more popular due to Top Gun: Maverick. Though this fighter should of been popular back when Independence Day 1 came out way back when XD.
I’m excited to watch! Already dropped the like ;) Always here for MSFS. What hotas/setup do you have!
When he’s saying stop stop stop stop he sounds like a gambler at the roulette
I love your videos keep all the good work you do up 😆!!
I would recommend turning on developer mode, you can find that in general settings under the sub section "DEVELOPER MODE", it turns on plane invincibility, and also brings more features.
Trev I think we need a stream of you taking the Darkstar around the earth to prove that the earth is indeed round 😂
Please do more of these types of videos they are so entertaining and cool to see.
Oh my, your landings are making me anxious.
Great video, Trev!
Also, love the jacket!
Gear down at 520kts. So realistic failures is off then! An on-speed F/A-18 would be nearly perfect for St Barts. On speed vfpm is about 700 I think and you don't flare them, you kind of slam them into the deck. If the sim is right, you go gear down and an E shaped bracket appears on the left side of your HUD. Get trimmed so the middle of the E bracket lines up with the circle with the three lines coming out of it that denotes where your plane is headed. Retrim as you go full flap to keep it in there and use throttle instead of stick to point the circle at the runway. So long as that gets you descending at 700fpm or less, you've landed an F/A-18.
Was looking for some great content and I get this notification. Awesome!!!! and it’s FS2020????? Mega awesome!
As a representative of your community, i'd like to remind you of one important thing.
All of us individuals love you and more than appreciate the work you put in! Hope you the best. ❤
edit: regarding the textures not loading in, i assume thats just the gps data they got. it's possible to convert the gps server to use google maps actually (much more detailed and accurate), its not hard, neither should take any additional recourses of your pc. There's plenty of tutorials on how to do it.
Just imagine you put this much energy into something real
Hey man you said it yourself your passion has be reignited so im here to say PLEASEEEEE PLEASEEEE PLEASE KEEP DOIN MORE OF THESE I LITERALLY LOVE THE SERIES always good length on the vids i learn stuff about places ive never been please we dont gotta do the north pole im cool with italy or brazil or somethin 😂😂😂😂
“Oh. We’re at a decent airspeed”
220 crossing the threshold on a 5000 foot runway.
My brother in Christ you are not at at a good airspeed lol.
Thank you for making this video I'll enjoy it
Been to Maho Beach twice, it’s super cool and definitely recommend!
MARTIN!! F18S DONT HAVE REVERSE THRUST!! 😂😂😂
Does anyone think Trev’s style is sick
I like the top gun series please keep up the content
I saw the movie a few weeks ago and after watching it made me want to hop on flight sim like you did
I needed this
The switch to turn on the nose wheel steering on the Hornet is on the joystick in the cockpit
Can’t wait for the Tomcat video, keep it up bud! 👍🏽
It would be cool if you followed up this series with a real world discovery flight - the first step to becoming a pilot. A test to see how close the sim is to real life - haha!
Also textures in Canada, you can try turning on rolling cache in the data settings which should download part of the scenery so it's not streaming in.
bro i love this series
Finally saw top gun and that movie is incredible
Trev just chilling, burning better than 300 knots 100 feet off the deck, me screaming internally
Good episode, would liked to have seen another attempt at Alaska after you figured out reverse thrust. 👍
also i think for future landings sure the E-bracket for landings its next to the trajectory indicator (-0-) when landing gear is deployed it will look like this E-o- and you want to keep the left wing of the trajectory in the middle line of the ebracket and keep the ebracket and trajectory lined up on the runway to ensure that you have a better angle of attack and know that you will hit the runway
“How much did this video cost to make?”
Everything.
If you want an awesome fighter jet sim give dcs world a try. You can even dogfight other players.
Push down on the stick when braking so that the wings that move on the back go straight down to create more drag and help stop quicker
Dude you fly so fast when you land. Coming in at 350+ knots jesus
Definitely need to buy the F-14, F-15, and F-16…the F-16 is an amazing plane to fly
I know nothing about planes or landings. But you sir, never called the ball.
We definitely need a part 2 !!!!!!
