    From my personal experience using them for myself and my dog 🐶, they are very effective! Because they reproduce every 2 hours and in many cases, multiply by 1000 +, they can do some serious damage to an infection (they can also get through biofilm!!) without affecting the biological tissue around them, so no side effects - the only problem is after a few weeks, your immunity system can kick in....

    Change your smoke alarm battery! Hahaha.
    Loved this video. I'm currently doing my honours in phages... I keep getting really opaque plaques instead of super clear plaques and its doing my head in! Do you think this may indicate lysogenic phage instead of lytic? Or am I doing something wrong?

      Aww research is so much trial and error! Don’t give up, I remember so many experiments not working during my PhD but I promise it’s all a learning process, good luck!

    How to ensure that the lysis area that appears on a culture is not bacteriophage??

    • @1minutebiology
      @1minutebiology  Před 2 lety

      The lysis or clearing actually does indeed indicate that the bacteriophage infected the bacteria cause them to die which looks like lysis (clearing).
