    Thank you for your honesty. I had originally booked to visit Paris for 14 Julliet celebrations, but I found out that the Champs de Mars would be closed on that day, so crowds would not be able to gather for the classical music concert and fireworks. Then a month ago I heard that some other famous sites would also be closed in July. I thought, do I want to see Paris full of scaffolding and seating areas? The answer was no, and I'm not even a sports fan! So I cancelled the trip. I have booked for next year. Hopefully Paris will be back looking its best by then.

      I can't say it abruptly in the video, but from now to September 21st, Paris is not the Paris people want to visit... So you made a wise choice!

    Positive points of going during olimpics: secutity, no dirty and smelly streets, (in my case: free accomodation) security, security, security....

      I do hope you're right, because if there is increased security, it's because there are increased threats.

    I just came back from visiting Paris this week. I thought I was so smart visiting a month before the Olympic, but several central metro stops like Place de la Concorde were closed, adding so much walking to my day. Thank you Alain for all your tips. Your videos and answers to comments really helped. Looking forward to visiting again with all the construction gone.

    My husband and I are coming for the Olympics. He is really excited, as this is a bucket list experience for him. I know it will be hot and crowded, but it will also be a unique experience as well. I’ve gotten us tickets online for all the other things we want to see, too: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Musee D’Orsay and and a few more. We’ll be making the best of it!
    We’ll also plan to come back to Paris in a few years to see what it’s like without all the Olympic stuff there. But It’ll be interesting to visit at this time, too.

      There is far more to Paris than the !st Arr. and the major monuments, It's the Parissians that make Paris not the tourist attractions, Its the best city in the world full of the most marvellous people.

  • @xr6lad
    @xr6lad Před dnem +1

    Sage advice. Totally understand where you are coming from and if one of the reasons to come was a long need to visit various attractions, having them covered in scaffolding or even closed defeats that purpose. And no one wants to spend hours standing in line waiting for something in the heat of summer. Plus you can get more bang for your euro going at another time.

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  Před dnem +1

      Absolutely! If people come because they want to see the OG, then, great. But if they imagine to see the Paris they dreamt of, then it's not the right timing.

    Absolutely Alain, it’s shocking now in June to see this city I love looking like this. My wife tripped trying to get around the barriers that are everywhere now, add hordes of people to that mess and any incident to panic the crowd…

    Im doing a quick Paris visit just before it all kicks off. I was there in May and saw all the prep,the seating etc going up. I know it's much more advanced now and roads are blocked and buses diverted. I don't mind. I think I'll be able to do the couple of things I hope to. I'll just enjoy mooching around getting the vibe. Isn't an authentic Paris experience crowds, noise and getting your phone nicked on the metro! No,I agree for anyone visiting Paris for the first time leave it till autumn or even next year.

    When I attended the coronation of King Charles last year I needs that ocean of people to have a sense of belonging to what I have been following for the past 42 years ! I find a little grumpy and arrogant when parisians don’t want to be overcrowded by what a large event will be happening. If there’s traffic then solve it . Don’t say to a visitor that he/she shouldn’t visit Paris . If France has problems about tourism then solve them.
    Tourist bring so much money to the country . Update yourselves :
    There are 8 billion
    On Earth and a lot of
    Them
    Want to
    Visit France .

    • @Ape4Apes
      @Ape4Apes Před dnem +1

      Nothing wrong with visiting for the Games, if that is what you are looking for. But it will not be the “Paris Experience” that many people anticipate.
      I discouraged some friends from scheduling their first trip to Paris just prior to the games. They arranged a different Europe trip and will visit Paris next year.

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  Před dnem +1

      I guess you haven't watched entirely this video.
      Should you have done that, you would have heard me saying, at 05:51 : "Paris is truly magical, but to enjoy its full charm, consider visiting during a less hectic time. Experience the City of Light the way it’s meant to be - calm, beautiful, and authentically Parisian."
      I'm a strong supporter of tourists visiting Paris, and I have 100 videos on my channel to prove that. But my advice in this video is to avoid coming during the Olympic Games if you are not coming specifically for the Games.
      Is this grumpy and arrogant?
