    Man you just saved me a headache of work!! Just got a good rain, went to my car and I had a gallon of water in the passenger floorboard....didn't know what happened. Stumbled across this video and it saved me. I took the grommet out and the water that was left poured through. Thing was clogged solid. I left it out 😂 now just gotta dry the water inside and I'll be set!!! Much thanks!!!!!

    My 2011 SHO just did the wet floormat trick at the car wash tonight. Popped open the cowl, hole was completely clogged. Cleaned, vacuumed, flushed with a ton of clean water - back to good! Thank you!

    Thank you so very much! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to video and post your findings. Great troubleshooting and detective skills.
    I had the exact issue with my 2013 Taurus SEL. Fan would not work, went to pull the motor and check voltage and that is when I found the power cable sopping wet and the connector to the motor dripping water. Appears the power was disabled to it, thought it blew a fuse, but all fuses were good. After blowing out the water in the connector and drying the cable I put a voltmeter on the two contacts and turning the key to ON with fan on HIGH I had twelve volts. Cycling the fan speed down to LOW I could watch the voltages drop from 12, 10, 8, 6 volts and verified that the blower resistor was OK and working. The cabin air filter was wet and filled with debris. After drying the motor connector I tested the motor was still OK and working fine. So my next step was to figure out how that water got in there and you provided the answer to my question. Thank you so very much! Now I don't have to buy a blower motor, but I still have to buy a HVAC MODE DOOR Actuator (YH-1769) (not a blend door actuator YH-1779) since mine is stuck in the dashboard vents only position and I can't get it to change to either DEFROST or FLOOR VENT modes. That is a real tough one to address, gotta remove the instrument cluster, and the panels under the steering wheel just to get to the screws through the cluster opening and move the servo out and down and the new one up and in place from underneath the dashboard. Phew! You made my day though, I was thinking it was water from the condenser of AC system.
    Is it possible to hit that grommet with compressed air? Snake in a hose from attached to an air blower gun?

    Thank you so much for this video. This was the exact problem my Mom's 2010 Taurus had; that grommet was completely clogged.

    Good video. I removed the wiper arms, both pieces of cowl so I could clean the whole area out. There was debris that hadn't made it to the drain rubbers yet lodged arround the wiper moter and the ECM. Very important to clean all the debris out. I parked the car inside for a few days so it was all very dry and used a shop-vac to get all of the debris out. I also changed the cabin air filter, it was trashed from the water running through it.😀

    Good video and just did mine for a 2011 SHO. 160k and never had this issue before. Haven't pulled the blower yet since it looks like sitting for a week during rain may have already leaked out. Im glad I looked in there today. Thank you sir.

    You are the man! I have been trying to troubleshoot water on the floorboard after heavy rain for six months. I would never have imagined how much gunk could accumulate in a cavity that is essentially sealed except for the air intake. When I reached down and squeezed the rubber grommet, water and gunk drained out out over my hand. I took the cover off best I could, removed and cleaned the rubber gasket, cleaned the remaining dirt and leaf debris from the screen and cavity. Thanks!

    we haven't had this issue yet with my wife's 2014, but I'm glad you put this video on here. We tend to live in a little bit drier area but I will probably go ahead and check it to make sure that the grommet is at least pretty clean. Thanks

    Thanks for the video! It was exactly what caused water to get into the passenger floorboard on my 2011 SEL. The car sits outside quite a bit with a big oak tree hovering above.

    Many thanks for making this video! I have a 2013 SHO and I am dealing with the same issue. I like that your method avoids removing the windshield plastic piece entirely (a lot of other videos remove the whole thing, which seems like a lot of work). One question, why not just delete the rubber grommet completely? Seems like it is just a shit collector anyway. Let me know if I missing something.... Thanks again for this helpful video.

    Is there another one of this black rubber on the driver side as well? Well, It turns out there is one as well on the driver side. I recommend to get that cleaned too while you are at it.

    Greetings, i have a 2005 Ford Taurus that leeks water on the passenger floor when it is left out in heavy rain. It looks like it is dripping from the blower motor from what appears to be some kind of a weep hole at the bottom of the blower motor. Did your motor have a weep hole at the bottom? Ive checked inside the crawl and no evidence of water build up... Thanks, Willie

    I had this SAME issue in my '07 Mustang GT. Water started pouring into my passenger footwell once during a storm. Such a pain.
    Also: is it weird that a Taurus SHO is my dream car?

  • @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702
    @unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 Před 4 lety +1

    Is there any true advantage to having the grommet? I had the same problem and just cleaned mine out, other than directing water a few inches downwards why do we even have the grommet there if the water is just simply going to pour out anyways? In other words, I was debating just leaving it out vs having to clean it out and replace it.

    • @topc5826
      @topc5826 Před 2 lety

      I have to clean mine out yet, and just found this video, seems I also have mouse living in the engine compartment. Would leaving the grommet out make it easier for vermin to find a cozier spot to nest inside? It looks to me though that the closure is easily spread open and that wouldn't stop a mouse from squeezing through it. Did you have any problems with water in the motor? seems my power cable was saturated and the connector was wet inside the contacts, the motor had stopped working but after I dried out the cable using compessed air, testing the motor with power and it spooled up without any problem.

    I had this same issue on my 2011 Taurus Limited. What happens if you just leave the grommets out? What purpose do they serve?

    • @Freejack0112
      @Freejack0112  Před 4 lety +2

      The main purpose is to allow water to drain out but also prevent more debris, insects, rodents, etc... from getting up inside. A minor barrier.
