  • It is clear more than ever that sustainable development is central for global security and stability, and inclusive green growth is essential for the fight against climate change. To achieve this the world needs to think of catalysing financial flows, sharing technology and innovation and rebuilding trust in a divided world. Can the G20 be part of stitching together new partnerships, investing in clean and green initiatives and projects and ensure that no human is left behind as we strive to achieve the 2030 Development Goals. The panel discusses this and more in context of India’s imminent G20 Presidency.
    Speakers:
    S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, India
Vicky Ford, Minister of State for Development, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom
Borge Brende, President, World Economic Forum
Moderator: Samir Saran, President, Observer Research Foundation

This moment was even more precious because of the timing.
Just when the entire audience including WEF President was applauding the weight of Jaishankar's words,
Miss Ford was busy running circles in her own head how she was under a first-world classroom bench during "conflict" and how the Queen her majesty saved the UK from conflict by looting and pillaging other developing nations.
All this led to her interrupting that applause to make that ridiculous ill-timed point which was the worst note possible to end such a discussion on.
Im actually glad all that happened, she's a perfect reflection of (exposes) western policy maker's mentality which is the very cause of all the problems the world faces today.

Mr. Jaishankar has just simply dropped diplomatic finesse in every one of his public appearances. He has been blunt , brutal in his description of the western world to the extent of being rhetorically cynical and resigned to their villainy. There is a.method to his public outbursts and that too at the highest diplomatic and policy plank levels. Great effort and we trust this is a calibrated stance from India that is being highlighted by Dr. Jaishankar.

There has to be a way of making all these zones and regions and groups part of the conversation. Bring them up to speed on the world's issues and make there voices and concerns heard.
A group I have respect for , mostly journalists, have a disdain for what they term " globalists" , in my mind that means taking control of there regions thru the manipulations of there institutions and the corruption of there business. Those concerns used to coincide with the term imperialism but now has moved thru the politics to hedgemony. Those are the concerns of the day, that some group or entity will dominate and end ways of life and traditions of those not considered up to scratch or is a candidate for a annexation....
We now have blocks of very clearly defined groups that are defining there futures with ever increasing degrees of confidence.
Now that this has happened , I think , it's going to pick up speed in the developing world once there safety is secured and there a part of the overall process.

Open letter to Dr S. Jaishankar
    Warmongering:
Sir I had a thought in regards to a move towards repairing the Chinese American dominance dance in the China Sea and our own border disputes. It is becoming a game where people are grabbing earth and calling it theirs.
Generic solution in this equation requires attention:
Let there be no war of weapons. IF, it is about technology, markets, money and power to dominate by rising above. Focus needs to shift from competition more towards personal growth. Everyone collectively trade and work towards their own dominance. Join hands and do whatever but no violence. Then what follows needs to be open and transparent for all to see. You want to dominate someone then create the technology and show the world you can. Saying that there will be AI and other leaps in technology, which will come in play. But there will be no military violence to destroy global growth.
I think it is about being heard. Right now everyone is listening and India is in a position to propagate it's philosophy of No time for war and non violence to grow.
War may be a very big business but religion has been the biggest of all time. There must be some merit in it. One must understand ashes to ashes and dust to dust. We are spirits of a bigger cosmos. We need to show restraint in our hunger to dominate. This is looking through a moral compass.
The difference between a Western politician and an Indian politician is very crucial to understand. They grew up knowing power and religion to be separate working hand in hand and used whichever worked better for them. However an Indian politician is bound by his or her morality by the virtue of being born in India. Here our system is concerned about Karma hence our system and our culture never separated power and religion. It is every individuals responsibility to adopt non violence and we see it that way.
The conclusion coming back to who we are is through our actions.

This is an idealistic discussion with good points raised by all.
Everyone dodged a direct answer the key question: finance.
Realistically, there is no chance that the USA will contribute hundreds of billions or trillions to this effort. America has soured on globalism as it has hollowed out the USA's industrial base, with disaffected middle class that has seen their standard of living decrease and is voting nationalist in recent elections. In addition, American multilateralism has retreated over the last 20 years since international communities are seen as increasingly hostile to American interests. Everyone has their hand out, and the value proposition for taxpayers is increasingly challenged.
China is entering a period of financial distress and significantly lowered growth, which raises the question of whether there will be the will to provide hundreds of billions or trillions. China needs to bail out failed regional banks AND the truly enormous failed residential construction sector AND hyper-overleveraged municipalities that are now directed by the CCP to lend even more billions in failing finances and bankrupt construction firms. All this said, the Chinse BRI has had some success in promoting development (useless palaces and other vanity and shockingly uneconomic projects excepted - expect these to be repudiated by the next regime and/or go belly up), even if there is increasing local and international concern on means and methods and that this is just Chinese colonialism, land and resource seizure, and perhaps even debt traps.

India is sensitive to world's problems that's why we've delivered free vaccines to poor countries. And banned private sector wheat exports and allowed govt to govts requests for wheat so that poor countries can also have food. That's how a leader should behave. Not like west, always fight one or the other country to keep its defence export industry alive. Downfall of west is started UK is first to collapse. As Jai Shankar told when India was under attack west suggested India to do more trade why should India give a fuck about west's own created problems. Now go n do more trade with Russia why are you crying.

No country or organization represented by any on the panel has spare money. Empty talks. And the ungraceful Indian host keeps baiting his panelist multiple times on 'debt trap'. No one took a bait. Lol
