Thank you for the video. I was an air traffic controller there, assigned to the 62nd Avn Co from 73 to 75. We even controlled the drag races on the runway every Sunday...

I remember the 1st and 32nd Field Artillery building, that my barracks back in 85-86. Very sad to see the old historical buildings go and the remnants of the battalion headquarters that burned down. Still can never forget that night with Sherry in the barracks across the street.
Danke fürs Hochladen )
iwas stationed here in 1966 to 1968 had a wonderfull time remember the snake pit . if you were there too ,write back. i was the 1st cook at the big mess hall.
Dear mister Gallardo is it possible to get in contact with you i have several questions about your time in the Fliegerhorst, if yes please contact me
I was Air Force weather. I worked in the tower giving weather observations to army air traffic controllers. I was there from 1976-79.
I worked n lived in a avionics shop opposite the flight line in 1970. The building is still there happy to see. However the lovely old hangars are gone and one of these hangars was the one I saw Bob Hope's Christmas show in. I see the ramp area not is a vary new and modern building with lots of loading docks around it If I remember correctly. AnyWay, I really liked my time at Fligerhorst, especially being in that old Lufwaffa base.
Sir I was stationed there from 1970 thru 1973 in the 122nd Avn co. as 17L20 or T O. We probably crossed paths at one time or another. I remember seeing Bob Hope. A shame the airfield is now gone by the wayside. Lots of stories I could tell.
I was stationed there from 1969 to 1971...350 AVN CO. Served as Crew Chief on a CH34 and later on a UH1D Huey. Love it. The hanger I worked out of is gone, but the barracks are still standing...just across the street from the mess hall. Good memories.
Since I made the above post I learned some place that an air craft caryting Hitler needed to divert to Fligerhorst once for some reason durring the war. I also learned that the grass runway area was able to be flooded and and cows added around the parimiter made to look like a lake and dairy farm in a relative short period of time when needed.
Also when I was there in 70-71 I was also told that I was the only US Army company mail clerk that fetched the mail daily on a motorcycle. Perhaps people thar were there during that time will remember seeing a. GI riding blue BSA Lightning? That was me......

What are they doing to Fliegerhorst? That shot of one of the barracks being torn down is sad. I was stationed here from 84 to 85 with the 1/32nd FA C Btry, a Lance Missile Battalion. My Section Chief was SSG Roark. Hopefully the Kaserne will not be totally torn down.

I search People they have worked in building number 1374. Its a high Hall near to the ramps for the Tank loading on train. I have buy this building and i was excited about the history of this building. This small Hall is completly renovated by me. I found in it a planograph which is named "bulk storage area". I will save this memories on this historical Hall. They have build it in early 1960's. The original Plan was to demolish the building, but for me is to historical to kill this memories. Maybe someone can remeber or know someone Who was there? I was verry thankful about informations. Sorry for my bad english i dont use it everey Day :(Thank you!
