Venezuelan Brass Ensemble: A barnstorming concert at Konzerthaus Berlin, 2007 (full concert)

- Brass music that will blow your mind: The Venezuelan Brass Ensemble under the baton of Thomas Clamor performed a rousing concert on September 4, 2007 at the Konzerthaus Berlin. The program included brass arrangements of popular classical pieces such as Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition or Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm, and also classics of South American dance music.
The Venezuelan Brass Ensemble was established in 2004, as an offshoot of the Simon Bolivar Youth Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (known today as the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela). The group brings together some of the most talented young brass and percussion players in the country to perform an extraordinary repertoire of pieces for massed brass bands.
Not to be missed, this concert is a firework display of South American brass music.

Many of these musicians now live in South Florida and freelance throughout the United States. The Trombone on the end is Pedro Murillo. He is currently on tour with the Estefans playing "On your feet". Support your local artists, especially those who come from a Minority background!
This deserves a million views at least. I recognise many players from the original Simon Bolivar orchestra which was stunning enough but this ensemble is absolutely top notch. Fantastic sound, beautiful balance and absolutely epic energy. I don't know how they kept the stamina for this long and still delivered the most amazing, beautiful music. By far the best brass/percussion concert I've ever witnessed and only wish I was there.

Wunderschöne Aufführung dieser fein oder perfekt komponierten Meisterwerke mit brillanten doch perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Blechblasinstrumente. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das perfekt trainierte Ensemble in verschiedenen Tempi und mit effektiv kontrollierter Dynamik. Wundervoll vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

I have played euphonium and bass trombone for more than 50 years and I cannot ever remember seeing a young group so galvanized and so excited, and so skilled in many, many a year. Maestro really enjoys what he's doing! Very clear, prepared, and is exciting! Really enjoyed this concert and I hope to see and hear many more.

Brilliant concert & playing. Some of the singing & jumping around is not as easy as it looks. A lovely gesture of appreciation by giving each member a rose. Hope there are other videos by this group.

The French Horn in 0:45 is Rafael Payare. He is the music director of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Payare also was first prize winner of the Malmo Conducting Competition.

WOW, I mean WOW! What a great group of young performers, what a great performance. Love the enthusiasm. Especially of the conductor. I wish I could have been there. Even better, I wish I could have played in that ensemble. What a blast!!! In Pictures at an Exhibition, I never wished for the orchestra version for a second, what a superb arrangement.
Arrangement was, indeed, top notch -- but having the horns play Bydlo -- okay, but I wanted to hear the solo euph. It came off fabulously, so I am NOT complaining! lol
The whole concert was a marvel but the plays composed by the two Venezuelan musicians in the band were fantastic!! If it was very emotional for me, I can’t imagine how it was for those two. The plays I am referring are the Grand Fanfare by Giancarlo Castro (trumpet) and the “Guerra de secciones”” by Felix Mendoza (percussionist). Please don’t miss those two.
