I was 8 1/2 months old in East Keansburg, New Jersey when this aired. The station graphics & newscasts revamped themselves by Labor Day and a new news title News 9 when we welcomed our weatherman Lloyd Lindsey Young.

On July 31, 1969, "Desk Set" was put in place of "Giant of Metropolis" during what was to be "Monster Week" on WABC-TV's "The 4:30 Movie." This sounds like the kind of switcheroo that SCTV would have pulled at the last minute on "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre" behind Count Floyd's back, him only finding out during airtime after his intro.
That promo was by Phil Tonken. Ted Mallie was at the booth for the "in a moment" bumpers.
The opening/closing (with "Hi!" by Otto Cesana and His Orchestra as theme) seems to date to 1972-73; "Movie 9" as we know it debuted Jan. 1, 1973 (with the first film shown "Cobra Woman" [1944]).
