Charlie tries to defuse in a polite and friendly way. Sam throws the attitude right back at them. Josh calls in the heavies and enjoys the fallout. This scene is consistent with their characters.
"The President's daughter, the Chief of Staff's daughter, a Georgetown bar, and Sam - what could possibly go wrong?" 😀
Great guest appearance by the Secret Service 😂
“I swear to god I’ll blow your head off” that dude was just putting in fresh dip and the pager went off lol
It’s the follow up meeting with the President, Leo, and Josh that is my favorite.
You don’t know it yet but you’re having a pretty bad night
Nowadays every single person in the place would have whipped out their phones, recorded this, and posted it on social media.
Obviously, that's where this vid came from!
When this show is based is pre 2000 early 2000. They actually have beepers and blackberries. The cell phones you see in the show are old school bricks. So, unfortunately no, it wouldn't be recorded by the bar.
Would white office staff and the presidents’ kids be that recognisable?
@@michaelsurette Not necessarily a brick. I had a work issued Motorola StarTac those years. Tethered it to my Powerbook as a modem.
Still, I bet in reality one of the other people in the bar would have recognised one or some of them at some (earlier) point, and called the press.
i think Josh pushed the button as soon as he called him a fairy boy!
Josh pushed that button approximately 0.2 seconds before those guys walked in.
The secret service does NOT mess around.
Nothing beats great writting, good acting, cast & crew!
And spelling
I watch this scene EVERY time it comes up anywhere! I love this!
This was first instance of Charlie being a secret badass.
This will never not be hilarious
Surprised the Secret Service subdetail didn't have at least one agent to cover the interior of the bar. I suppose they hadn't assigned Gina to work as Zoey's close-in protection yet.
Zoe may have said stand back.
You're right. Too much can happen quickly in a bar like that. They'd have had an agent inside for certain.
@@tpl608The President assigned Zoe her own protection after this incident ,
Yeah, I wonder if this was accurate in the 90’s, but wouldn’t be now. I know the guys talking to Zoe was accurate, but security wasn’t quite as much of a concern back then.
@@ryancappo I imagine the security around presidents and their families was really beefed up up after 1963. So yes the security was pretty heavy.
Wait, how could "Learn to Fly" be in this show? It's only been....
Oh....
*dissolves into dust*
I love this series so much. Best TV program ever.
Charlie Young was the best of us.
I love Josh in this clip!
I love that Sam immediately knew something was up and got into the middle of it.
@@jamiestewart48 and Josh was right behind him as wingman. :)
"How's everybody doin?" Lmao
That’s my favorite scene in the entire series
Classic West Wing scene.
Loved this scene!! ❤
At 3:56, I think the dialog is an homage to Rob Lowe in “Youngblood” when the other hockey player says to him, “you wanna go, pretty boy?”
Great show, thanks for posting all of these clips.
Love this scene...Charlie protecting Zoey, Sam ready, and Josh telling the punks there about to have a really bad night...
Now I’m having a good time
Has it been mentioned yet that it seems they are releasing official clips of the most popular unofficial clips that have been floating around CZcams for years?
i hope they expand after they cover that. most likely to populate with subscribers and algorithim so they can make money on the ads. Not a bad thing
@@CT_Taylor No not a bad thing at all and kind of brilliant. Pull in the viewers looking for their favorite clips
Shouldn't mess with Ghee Buttersnaps
The First Daughter of the United States, the daughter of the Chief of Staff of the White House, White House Press Secretary, two senior staff members of the White House and personal aide to the President (closest person to him at all times) enter the bar... a combination you wouldn't want to miss
If I was in a confrontation and someone like Josh came up like that, I'd definitely take a step back.
None of this would have happened if they'd just gone out for malteds.
This kind of thing is why I never bothered with bars.
"NOW I'm having a good time!"
They clipped the last few seconds that makes the clip
‘What happened?’
Yeah this clips channel is nice but very strangely edited.
How on earth did that guy get out of a federal charge for possession to then later become a contractor for CTU Los Angeles?! He must have had one hell of an attorney to get that off his record! 😏
He also played a stalker stalking Don Johnson's college daughter on "Nash Bridges".
He also got gangster-slapped in the movie "O" for being a cad.
I was wondering if someone was going to point that out.
Everytime I see this, I'm amazed.
The things people can remember about characters in movies & actors entire lives and it just never stops with some of them. I have met some that were truly incredible in thier knowledge. I keep thinking, wow, they must spend all thier time doing this to know all these facts and interwoven characters. There have been a few that just never stopped linking everything together endlessly. I could only sit there and listen. Amazed and stunned that anyone would or could collect all these bits of knowledge. Movie & music lore affecinadoes definitely.
Zoey gets whisked away. Everyone else: okay back to the table!
I get why the panic button was pushed, but it always annoyed me. The guys get to save Zooey and get back at and laugh at the college guys. But Zooeys whole night was ruined. She has to go back to the White House while everyone else gets to hang out. I mean, she shouldn’t have been at a bar, but couldn’t they have dealt with this another way?
I wish I was half the man Charlie is.
This show is a liberal power fantasy and every second of it is great.
Not yet . . . ..
Rob likes them very young.
And that was the beginning of the Charlie-Zoey romance.
The President's Daughter and the White House Staff Walk into a Bar.
oh i heard this joke before but i forget the punchline.
(watches the video)
oh thats right, funny ending to a funny joke.
Fun scene, but I had a couple of issues with this.. .first, wouldn't the SS be in the bar with them, within sight of Zoe? And after Josh presses the panic button, the agents just kinda stroll into the bar instead of rushing in like it was an emergency?
FAFO! with Secret Service on the side!
Learn to Fly playing in the background.
Like Mallory would never have joined them on the campaign trail. Like Jed wouldn’t have asked Leo about her teaching. Like Sam wouldn’t have known Leo’s daughter’s name!
Why would Zoey put her panic button down then, precisely when she'd be in a crowd alone?
It's called a TV show and so Josh could be the one to push the button.
What did Charlie say as the boy was being chuffed?
My name is Charlie Young, jackass, and if that bulge in your pocket is an eight-ball of blow, you’re spending spring break in a federal prison.
That’s an eighth of an ounce of cocaine.
@@wmwestbroek thanks.
@@estherross1 I typed the entire line, but now I don’t see it. “My name is Charlie Young, jackass, and if that bulge in your pocket’s an eight-ball of blow, you’re spending spring break in a federal prison.”
@@wmwestbroek thanks again
The idea that the underage daughter of the president of the United States would be drinking in a bar with a senior staff is so ridiculous. Also, you can’t order a drink if you’re younger than 21.
Well the underage Bush daughters both got caught drinking in a nightclub back when their dad was president.
You can unless you are in the land of the free.
She didn’t get an alcoholic drink. Really you think the Presidents Sr. Staff would let the minor boss’s daughter buy an alcoholic drink?
@@BodaciousWench She was buying an alcoholic drink for CJ (a grasshopper).
In 2000, at a bar, in Georgetown? Half the people there were under 21.
Someone would notice that CJ was there and she was the press secretary of the president.
And the presidents daughters would all be in the tabloids and well known, especially to guys in college.
I think part of that is covered when they ask Zoe her name and she seems genuinely surprised they don't know. And then later when the guys begins to recognise faces.
I don't know. Some college students don't know Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun. Never underestimate how ignorant people are of the world around them.
These staffers feel tough in a bar when they know they have Secret Service protection.
As would you or I, friend.
Yup!
I love this clip, but Zoe is underage and couldn't go get CJ's drink at the bar.
Certainly *shouldn’t*, but a certain number of bars lose their licenses over that every year. OTOH, a gathering of lawyers wouldn’t let the underaged girl go to the bar, either.
@@davidweihe6052 Yeah, she'd probably get carded at the door anyway.
And underage kids can't gamble at casinos - didn't stop me from doing exactly that at every casino on the Coast when they opened. There's always ways around that sort of thing
@@tcerathi True, it's not that hard for an underage college kid to get a drink -- if she's not the President's daughter with his staff right there, including his Press Secretary who is in charge of his image. They wouldn't break the law or let her break the law. At least these characters wouldn't.
She was going just to remind what the table had ordered. She could watch it being maid, and it would be delivered to the table, without the drink ever getting on her hands.
I just realized that’s Elizabeth Moss!
