I got high just watching this vid
Nice
I'm considering this mainly cos it's the only decent mic that shows wind protection..
This mic is amazing and cheap
I'm going to get one for my Fuji XT4..
Better than some that are £200+
you literally helped me fix every problem I had with the mic... wow
That’s what I want to hear!
I recently bought this mic and these three tips were totally new to me. Thanks for the tutorial. When you’re starting out with new gear you can always use all the help you can get.
Yessir
....Wow....I’ve had my Rode VideoMicro for 3 years and just learned all of these just now wtf I’m seriously mind blown, especially about the deadcat! Mine kept falling off and just recently I had to hot glue a circle around the opening (which worked) to keep it from falling off, but yeah, I just peeled off the hot glue just now and actually pulled the dead cat all the way 🤣👍🏼 Thanks for the tips!!
I’m so glad to hear that! I was pretty mind blown myself when I learned these tips
I love the vibe of this video. Learning about technology is usually very meh to me, very boring. But this guy right here makes me very chill.
But then do you have to match the audio to your footage in post if you have an external recorder?
Yes but in most softwares you can do that automatically
Or you can just use it as a preamp
I had the mic for about 2 years and never knew I could secure the deadcat. Thank you for that tip!
Of course!
Congratulations on reaching 100 subscribers! And thanks for these tips!
Dude, your content is solid! I’m glad I found your channel
Thank you so much! Hopefully you still like my channel lol
Dope. I have had my Rode Micro for 3 years and never knew the dead cat clipped into place if you push it on far/hard enough. Mine was always loose. Now it's on good and tight, thanks to your vid!
Nice vid! Quick question, what record volume do you put your camera on when this mic is attached? I have an a6400-VideoMicro combo aswell. Thanks!
Great tips! Thanks man!! Excited for more content form you
Thank you so much!
what a helpful trick. using this mic for months with wobbly things. i don't even think about cable trick. it works!
Hopefully it helps!
MY DUDE!! I just got this Rode mic and was going to send it back because it was saggy and bouncy AND the deadcat wouldn't stay on. So glad I found this video. Thanks so much!!
Super helpful! I had been using the Rode wireless go (love it!) but the clip snapped off & I had to send it in to Rode to get it fixed. I wanted a nice back-up mic & this fit the bill. I liked how this doesn’t use an external battery. I am SO glad I found this video. “Recessed. That’s the word!!” Thank you!!
Thanks for the hacks, I've had that mic for over a year and had no idea on the wire clamp.
I know! I was mind blown when I learned about that
You're amazing man 👏 learned a lot from your video 👍
Love your videos. Natural af, appreciate your content
Hey dude, awesome video! Do you know if you can use a headphone with this, if you use one of those splitters? To use on an iPhone? Thanks man!
I don’t think so? I’m not entirely sure tho
what background music do you use and do you think its preferably using quiet background music as opposed to just talking?
I just find some music on SoundCloud. I have a couple creators that I really like. Then I distort it a little bit. But I definitely think you should have quiet music as opposed to no music at all. Personally I don’t like the dead space
Thanks, didn't know the first 2, both very useful!
Thank you!
This was awesome, thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for these tips - honestly, I've had this mic for a looooong while and have not yet used it. First I discovered I needed a special cable (red/grey) I went and purchased it. Then I needed the Apple adapter which I've just done. The tips you're giving here are super helpful - I won't give up on using this mic as the reviews are awesome. Now I need to find a way to position it on the tripod. I may also need something else for that LOL
OH MY FABSIUDSAPIE GOSH.
I haven't watched any hacks but the first one so far BC I am MIND BLOWN. I have been STRUGGLING with my deadcat bouncing into my shots. I've watched so many videos to get to this point. Thank you thank you.
OMG You’re welcome! I’m glad I can help!
Great tips man, thanks for the help. Game changer!
Grats on 2k subs btw 😜
Thank you so much!
@@LoveTheBasics You're welcome man! Growing a channel is hard, but I really like your style so you've got a new sub from me. 😜
Very nice video ! I just have one question : how do you manage to avoid AF noises when the VideoMicro is placed on your camera’s hot shoe ?
I don’t. My lens just doesn’t produce that much noise when focusing. I’m sure if I were using a lens that was louder when focusing that the microphone would pick it up a little bit
@@LoveTheBasics Okay, thanks a lot for your answer 🙂
Sweet tips man! The first one made my day as a golf vloger👊 Thanks man
Thank you so much! I’m glad I can help
This is fantastic! Thanks, man!
Of course!! Thank you!
Thanks for the video man. Can you tell plz - how's the mic performing on mid distances like 6-8 feet?
Not good at all. Slightly better than the camera mic
LoveTheBasics, I was about to buy it - thanks for the reply.
Great Vid brotha! Thanks for the 3 pointers. I was pretty bummed out that the RODE mic was moving like a bobblehead lol I never even noticed the slots 💯Thanks G
Anytime!
Loving it my man! Thanks for the tips 👌
What background music are you using?
Thank youuu. I’m not entirely sure. I get my music from various people on SoundCloud
Needed this video thank you sO much
Thanks a lot very valuable information helped me personally keep up the good work
Thank you! I’m glad I could help
I just bought the mic today and I think I clicked on the jackpot video.. thanks a lot for the hacks.. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much!! I’m glad I could help!
Do you have any tips for what the best audio recording levels are from the A6400 paired with the Rode VideoMicro?
Maybe 10?? It just depends on the situation and it helps if you have audio levels turned on
Good vid & Helpful thanks bro 👌🏽
Great tips! Thx dude! The wire stabilizing trick is brilliant 🙌
Aye thank you my guy
Hi , ty for vide
What u think ig i connect to my sony zv e10
What will be the best audio lvl ön my camera ? Ty for the ansverr :)
Hey! I have the rode video micro (original) w/ the Sony zv e10, I was wondering since there’s no external mic settings for this mic, do I leave audio record level in camera body at 26 or change it for best quality?
Bro for some reason I love tour channel already! I think it’s cuz you actually talk better than some CZcamsrs out there that talk way to fast!
solid info! thanks!!
Appreciate you broo! Liked the video :)
Thank you!!
I've never been so thankful for finding a certain video. Thank you.
best video hack man! I had no clue about these things even using them for months.

Love the editing. Subbed.

Really good tips! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the tips :)
Thank you!!
Nice tips! Keep it up bro
Thank youuu
Hey! Can you help me? I recorded people singing and playing drums with the rode video micro - with the camera's audio level at 1 (the minimum) (A Sony A6300) and still, the audio was cracking a lot :( . It would be better to use the camera's mic... What can I do to solve this? The problem is the mic?
To me it sounds like it was just way too loud. Your audio is clipping. Using the onboard camera microphone would’ve helped slightly but not by much. I don’t know much of how to correct this, I’m sorry 😐
omg it took me this long to find out that I had to push the deadcat in so that it latches, I always thought it just came loose like that. thanks for the video love the aesthetic!
Straight and to the point! Like
Haha truly entertaining. Thanks for the tips.
Man dope video.... what strain you smoke dude? you look and sound super chill I wanna try dat $h!t bro... peace
Dude !!! You just saved my DAY !!!
Hell yea man I’m glad to hear that!
I just received my Rode Video Micro that I bough on eBay for $45.00. I want to use it on my GoPro Hero5 and Nikon P7800. I wanted something small and compact. Your video was the first one I just watched after unpacking the whole thing. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Hopefully you enjoy the microphone!
Does anyone have any tips for getting the volume of your voice louder when behind the mic? For instance if you're filming a friend and talking to them behind the camera - your friend will sound fine but your voice will be rly rly soft!!
Wow - owned it for years but did not know these things - thanks bro!
Thanks. Very helpful.
What was that last thing you showed? An external recorder? Can you post a link to that?
Great video! Thanks
I laughed so hard at incessed!! Nice video! Helped me out! Liked and subbed.
Ha! I’m glad I could help
Your video helped me more that i want to admit, Thank you.
That’s so good to hear!
Thanks dude, liked the intro
This was helpful. Fav tip was the cord one!
Thank you! That one is a game changer
We have the new IDOLCAM VlogStar V2 shotgun/Lavalier microphone in one, very compact, can we send you one for the next mic review you are doing?
BRO. I always wondered why that mic bounced around so much!! This video is a game changer
I gotchu
The only place to put this mic is on top of my camara???or can I place it somewhere else
I mean you can put it on a stand and put it somewhere but yea it goes in top of your camera
Great info thanks
Of course!
That wire tip just made my audio so much better 🙏🏾
I’m so glad to hear that!
Great tips thanks 😊
Thank you!
These are great tips. I wish I listened to you before I used mine. Would have helped a lot especially the wire clamp.
Did you get rid of yours??
LoveTheBasics I kept it because it did sound great even on super windy days (50-60 mph). My problem was the cat kept getting on my view. Clipping the cord would have solved that. I do love the mic.
Ohh yea I can see your issue. Yea clamping down that wire definitely would help.
LoveTheBasics Glad I found your channel brother.
Ok so what is the really "diverse" thingy'majiggy you pulled out at the 4min 30sec point of your vid? A mic? What the name and model so I can look it up?
Thank you!
Thanks! I was really looking for some help, because my audio was really messing up.
Well hopefully I helped!
@@LoveTheBasics you did! It made the audio sound perfect! You saved, me from returning the camera completely 😂
I'm not new to cameras, but I have never used a shotgun mike of any kind before, so I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Thanks once again!!!
That’s so good to hear!!
LMAO. That outro though. Hilarious!
Thank you!!!
I’m glad I could help!
Good job bro!!
Thank you thank you
thank you....awesome
I had no idea about the cable clip........thank you so much. I do still mainly use my original (1st gen) rode video mic pro, due to the audio boost
How do I do to get rid of the static noise that comes from the microphone on the background?
What mic did you use here? Sounds good. Also, what effects did you add?
I’m pretty sure I’m using the rode videomicro. I’m not sure what effects I used there but this is what I do now: I use premiere pro to edit. Then I add dynamics (this gets me a limiter and a compressor) and if I’m hearing too much bass in my voice I’ll use an EQ to get rid of some of it
LoveTheBasics Interesting! I’m using limiter and compressor and someone said they add bass enhancer to theirs haha. So I’ve been doing that.
Great tips 👍🏼
Thank you!
Also very helpful content!
Great content brother 😊
Thank you so much!!
Informational and made me laugh! Thanks for the info.
Thank you! I’m glad I could help
I was here looking for mic volume settings , but at least i learned some new stuff
Amazing tips, don’t think any other video would have the same tips with how unknown these techniques are
I appreciate it! Thank you!
dont usually comment but thank you for this video, this was super helpful, , my lense is small and i had a problem that the dead cat is always in the shot, but the first hack solved everything and might prevent me from buying a smaller windscreen. So thank you
bahahahha Incesesed...great video my dude thanks for the tips will be picking one up today yay!
Uh ha ha thank you
Incested. LOL. That cracked me up. Thanks for the tips anyways. It really helped me make a decision to purchase the Rode Micro
Dude! The mic sounds so good here. I'm trying to use it with my samsung and the volume is so freaking low! Anyone else experiencing this? I'm not even that far do you boost the sound when you edit the video or is that as is?
I usually do bring up the volume when I edit. Are you using it with a phone??
I am using it with a phone.... Can it be use with a phone?
Kind of not really. I’d look into the rode videomic me
