Can Honey Bees Really Do All This In 3 Days?

- We get these sort of calls more often than you might think. "I just noticed the bees, no way they've been there more than a few days.
In this video meet Dave Goodman, who was very much under the impression that the honey bee colony that took up residence in his bay window had been there no longer than 3 days!
After all Dave had recently been in that area cutting his grass & didn't notice any bee activity.
Come along on this one as Dave & I share some laughs & safely remove his bee hive from the rear of his home in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I decided to watch this video. "Eh, maybe for 10 minutes". 30 minutes passes, and I'm still watching. It was fun to watch
JoeStuffz ✌️👍🐝
SAME HERE!! He's very good and entertaining!
same here! I start a new episode and then binge like a series.
From a new beekeeper, this is very informative!
This is somehow satisfying
This Man is a Master at his work and he loves his work.
*"Bees only attack if they feel threatened or their hive is threatened"*
JP: Violently shakes a hive comb
Bees: Y'all feel sumn
It's just so weird. I've seen videos where bees go nuts when someone just looked at the hive wrong. Here's the kicker. This hive was never truly threatened. This guy basically did their whole migration process for them, while also keeping a lot of brood intact. It's like they knew his intentions were good and only got stung by a few who opposed the majority vote to not kill the guy.
@@ulibarriL It all depends on the species of bees, the state of the hive and what time of year it is
@@LyricTroll or if, gods forbid, they are queen-less.
A queenless hive can be pretty dang aggro.
@@ulibarriL depends on how aggressive and africanized the bees are.
"puts a bee in his mouth"
I really like your personality and how you constantly speak to us as if we are there.
Your not boring and you have a good sense of humor. 👍🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
JP is a true natural. been watching him for years... learned a lot from him.
They also attack if they hear bad bee puns.
This is un“BEE“lievable
CZcams recommended a beekeeping video out of the blue and now I'm hooked! How do you just sit there without a suit on and not get stung? It's almost like they think you're one of them. That's incredible!
I typically don't use gloves or a veil when I go into my hives...even going to check hives I don't know i don't. Now, closing them up to move them, I have started to use a veil after a couple of wild hives. Bees are pretty chill most of the time and are too focused on surviving and making honey to want to sting you.
Same, totally stuck in CZcams bee hole!
I was a beekeeper , I did not use any suite ,
@@Bluetoothedshark I have been consuming every beekeeping video I find! It's truly beautiful how bees work together for the good of the hive. I think we could learn a lot from the bees 🐝 right now.
@@laurensears2309 you are right , we should imitate them and love each other
Thanks to you (and a few others like 628DirtRooster), I have learned SO much about bees. I've always loved bees and it warms my heart to watch you all care for them and educate the public. Thanks a million for posting and stay safe!
JP I've been watching your videos for a couple of years and they made me love bees. I'm determined to get a hive or two whenever I get lucky enough to move into a house with a nice yard. Thanks!
If you have a flat roof or building on your property with a flat roof you could keep them up there. Many beekeepers out there doing just that! Lot of New Yorkers keep bees on rooftops. ✌️👍🐝
@@JPthebeeman Aww I'm in a college dorm right now and will be renting an apartment next year, don't think the landlord would appreciate that! Hope to see more videos soon
Thor Correia was just giving you another option, bee creative. 😉✌️🐝
A friend kept a top bar hive on her condo deck. I thought she’d have terrible luck. Nope they did great.
Even having to move them for a day when the condo association painted her railing.
I love my bees. I’m again going to buy 2 packages with a “queen and attendants”. My bees didn’t make it over winter. I keep trying.
I’ve met neighbors who know that my bees are feeding in their yards. It’s so cool. Good luck to you.
I like these full story videos. Nice to see the final result including a follow up. I knew who's voice that was at the end as soon as he said something.
No mistaking that voice, lol. Been trying to get him back on here again but he’s stubborn, lol.
@@JPthebeeman Give him a vanilla shake and he will be on the job and ready to go! Come on Schawee, we miss you!!!! Bickering Bee Keepers need to get together!!!!
@@JPthebeeman He better come back or I'll cry.
I know this is an older video, but I just recently discovered you, and I'm hooked! I'm learning SO much, and enjoying your great personality. Thanks, JP!

Trying to find the queen is like trying to play “Where’s Waldo”!
It is amazing what bees can do in just a short amount of time given the right circumstances. Thanks for sharing.
Looking at the last few combs which were already quite dark: The hive must have been there for a while. Possibly a year. The homeowner probably just didn't realise it, because firs tthey were rather small and thus didn't really bother him.
Seems like Dave was pretty happy to get some honey out the situation. Nice to see nothing is going to waste.
Man, I *REALLY DIG* the style of video where you rap with the people and throw out random bits of beee-rain food. No music, just a master at his two crafts - bees and banter.
Glad to see you again! You are patience personified! Thanks so much!
It is always a good day when I can watch JP the bee man's passion for doing his thing!!
I know nothing about bees except they're cute and the planet needs them. Stumbled across your channel and have been mesmerised, fascinated, educated and entertained. Thanks. I've subscribed.

Hi folks a new beekeeper here from Batangas, Philippines...I watched your videos and gathered some information that could help me to improve my skills and knowledge about beekeeping..keep up and thank you
You have an awesome personality. It separates you from the rest. Peace & Love homie. ☮️ &❤️&🐝
I thought I had binged all of your videos and tonight I found one I had not seen. You produce some of the best You Tube content. Thanks JP from the UK.
Thank you JP. Enjoyed the video. Those bees had to have been there at least 3 or 4 days...
Bee well and keep on taking good care of those bees. See ya soon.
Me: scared of bees
Also me: I w I s h t o b e e a b e e k e e p e r
I enjoyed seeing your videos. You make it entertaining, informative and interesting. Thank you, keep doing what you’re doing.
It was a long video but by the way it was being presented I knew it was going to be a "story". I had to watch to the end. You didn't disappoint. Schawee held the triangle piece you cut from beneath the bay window with an emergency queen cell and there she was, her "Royal Highness" in all her glory. Sounds like a Ray Stevens song. :-)) Fantabulous story. Thanks for sharing.
Hey JP my hubby and I watch your vids and miss them
Hope you’re feeling better soon!!!
Looking forward to new videos 🙏🤗
Lydia Fife thank you for reaching out, plenty more coming. I have been feeling better.
Thank you for sharing your time with us!🧡🧡🧡
I just love watching you work. Brings back days when I was 15, we had a hive and a family friend was teaching me about Bee's. Like you he used no net around his head and I was stung between the eyes, lol, lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your special knowledge and skills.
Another great vid ....& thanks for the update at the end!
JP, I love watching you and dirt rooster, and Mr Ed. Wish I could raise bees.
even tho i am allergic, watching this vids really made me want to become a beekeeper. and my depression have nothing to do with it. this is just too beatiful.
Doesn't matter how many of your videos I watch, I am constantly astounded you do this with no protective gear and never seem to get stung very much. Great video
Thank you for taking time to film these.
Always love watching you in action! very calm and knowledgeable :)
Hey JP! This is a very interesting video and you did such a nice job! I really enjoy seeing rip-outs like this so we can get some information about how the bees orient their comb to the entrance. I'm so glad you are out there doing what you do and using your rip-outs to educate about honey bees. Thumbs UP!!!
I love watching JP. He’s my favorite bee catcher!
Amazing how resilient bee's are. Seem to always have a way to fix themselves. Thanks
I have been watching Bee videos for a while now. I plan to start keeping bee's a some point but need to learn as much as I can first. I do know a Bee keeper that I plan to visit his place at some point. I love the way you care about the Bee's and want the best for them. Also the way you always talk and explain every move you make. Great job with your videos and your Bee keeping!
Good video JP. I like the interaction with the people while you work.👏🏾👏🏾
hey, idk why but youtube randomly suggested your video and i have been binge watching during "quarantine" time here. it is pretty interesting and relaxing. thanks!! bees are adorable!
Thank you for sharing these videos they never get tiering and the more of your videos I watch the moser I can see how the videos have progressed over the years. I always wondered what you did with all the bee colonies you rescue . You keep up the great work and stay safe .
It is good to see u are back and the same passion like always u are the best bee videos on CZcams we mis you cant wait for next one thanks
I caught myself holding my breathe every time you shook the comb after you said that’s what you do, lol
Dave is one of my favorite customers you've had. What a nice guy.
It was nice to see the happy ending this colony has with their new queen! That's a good thing to know how the rescued bees are doing after JP moves them. I am learning lots from this channel. So informative the different approaches to take depending on the situation. Thanks a lot JP!
as a Canuck that heat would kill me, if I was there JP, I would be doing nothing but watching and drinking and that would be from your truck with the ac running and that hive looks bigger than a nuc, thanks for the tip, my girl Hidey always hangs out on the walls of the box, nice new caramel coloured queen, great video JP all the best from the snowy north
Great host, Great client, Makes me want to do this as a part-time job, Jp there is no denying it, you are truly passionate about bees and your work, just by the way you like to have the client with you and show and explain a bees life so they no longer fear the bees, but start to embrace them for what they are and do for the ecology. its a Joy to watch you do your thing!
I'm lovin' these longer videos brother!! Keep 'em coming !!! ✌️🐝🐝🐝
Im getting a bee hive this spring , thanks for giving me the bee bug JP
Wow! Great video and info. Thank you

Jeez ineed to go to bed. You are so happy its intoxicating to watch. I wish i was half as happy as you are at work. I bet its fun to have a home owner stand in the "swarm" and hang out with you! Great job 👍
Thanks for another great video JP
Love the close ups! Another great video.
Great to see your A1 knowledge and experience with the little buzzers. I was wearing a veil when watching.
Even greater to see New Orleans. I know what it means to miss New Orleans.

God Bless America from your former Colonial Oppressors..
Also blew in the Italian Fisherman on the corner of Main and Beale Memphis, on the way down. Great memories to take through rest of life.
Thank you...Keep on buzzin' Man.
Damn, I knew bears loved honey but I didn't know you could hire them for this sorta service!
Thank you for posting your incredible videos !
I wish I had a couple of bee hives! So cool video and thank you!
4:25 It's like a top bar hive with how the bees filled in that bay window... wow.
Love to watch your videos. I have learned more about bees and I say thank you so much. When you talk in your videos you give alot of info about the bees and for me it's just wonderful to learn as much as I can from you. Thank you JP for sharing your videos with us. Love your channel. You keep making your videos and I will bee sure to watch. Lol seen how I did that.
Wonderful to see a calm approach to rehousing the bees and people not just calling the pest exterminator. Our bees are in trouble and we need to save and care for as many hives as possible. Also good to see no Varrora mite infestation. We’ve managed to keep them out of Australia so far. Our hives took a bad hit with the bushfires. Hopefully we will be able to increase our hive numbers back up in the future.
You are the KING of the bee very nice and continue
I found the beeman today at work so glad I came across him . So informative
The dad jokes just top it off
Omg. I’m very afraid of bees 🐝. But I love watching you, you are amazing at what you do. Thank you ☺️
U r a master of your craft JP. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing. It was very interesting.
Love your videos I’m a new beekeeper I’ve gotten a plethora of information from u lol thank u 😊

JP I've been watching your videos constantly and I really love what you do! I would love to get into bee's but over the past 20 yrs I'm highly allergic now. Which is a bummer! Keep on doing what you do we need those girls to flourish!! 😊
Woo Hoo it's another marathon, Yay!
Not a JP video without the B-vitamin pun. So relaxing to watch.
Not just B Vitamin pun but also a Honey Do funny as well
JP’s little chuckle is so funny haha
just watched 5 of your videos and could not stop watching ...you are the best beekeeper..I was for 6 years and had to stop ..got too old..I could watch you all day
my favorite was stubborn bees in the shed floor
Jettie McElroy the bees were stubborn but didn’t realize I was more stubborn, lol.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch the longer videos, it means a lot to me, thank you.

wow that's neat amazing we need that kind of organization (Washington) enjoyed learning and watching take care
The comb is so clean and beautiful 🥺
Really enjoyed the video, you did a grand job there. I am in East Sussex, jolly old UK and have two hives.
Best wishes to all you good folks in the Stataes. Regards Peter
Bees are so beautiful!
You should create a JPtheBEEMAM puzzle. That would be a very difficult puzzle to put together. Which puzzle people love.
Your accent is Adorable!!!! Your so calm!!!
New subscriber here. Really enjoying the videos. Wish I could try some honey in the comb. We had a hive in a space in our balcony & the bees were all killed. 🙁 So. Many. Bees. We had. Woweee.
Thank you I enjoyed it very much
Came for the bees. Stayed for the dad jokes.
😉👍🐝
Nice to see you Mr JP.. GOD bless you..Amin...
Nice to see t(e update on the new queen, and I spotted her straight away , so I’m pretty chuffed about that! Lol
Bees are amazing and this guy makes it seem so cool. :)
It takes great courage! You do this bare handed and I've seen you get stung on your earlobe and near your eye but on you go. I step on a bee and I'm going to get stung again by the doctor. As a kid my mom would take me on a bus, go 5 miles on a road with numerous railroad tracks heavily used. We'd watch the red streak move up my leg and hope no more trains would come!
You always have the coolest videos. I have learned a lot about bees. This past Summer I had a whole bunch of bees visiting my hummingbird feeders. They were such a nuisance so I made them a shallow bowl with sugar water to allow the hummingbirds a chance to get some sugar water. I just reached in among them when I had to refill it even though they were all over it and just did like you do. I did not move fast or swat them and they never bothered me once. I would have never done this if I had not seen you doing it. They acted as if they were starved, the poor things.
Rowdy motmot Cat whenever the flowers are not producing nectar we call that a “dearth.” During a dearth honey bees are drawn to any sort of sweet syrup such as snow cone syrup, soft drinks, teas, fruit juice, sugar water etc... when they’re foraging they’re not in the least bit interested in stinging anyone which you wonderfully discovered. 👍🐝
@@JPthebeeman Is sugar water the best for them or should I give them something else. Texas heat can be pretty hard on the flowers.
Rowdy motmot Cat as for supplemental feed yes, sugar water is best, white table sugar. Other feeds could cause them to get dysentery.
@@JPthebeeman Thank you for your information and teaching everyone about bees. I will do that this summer. I was happy to see the bees this past year as I have not seen too many bees here. I don't mind them having some food too and in the area I am there is too much construction which has wrecked their habitat. I hope you are feeling better now and will be posting more videos soon.
I don't own any hives, or bees, but I'm interested in doing it. These are really informative, thank you!
Love I came across your channel
Its nice that he allows the home owners and such to keep the honey. Ive watched a few people that do this kind of work and it seems they rarely allow the people to keep the honey unless theyre asked, but instead they keep the honey themselves. JP goes ahead and offers. Which is nice.
Must have been a long three days. 😂 that one took awhile. You have a lot of patience. Thanks for the video.
They don't cluster in heat, but they do spread out and fan their wings to increase air circulation in the hive and draw in cooler fresh air from outside.
Great tip about holding your breath!
I spotted the Queen within 2 seconds lol I don't know that much about 🐝 so I was proud of that! Much love man!
JP. Out of all the people I watch that care for bees, you explain and show us the details the best out of everyone! I love the way you point out the queen, workers and drones. What do you do with all of these hives? Do you keep them and maintain them all?
I've not long found JP and I agree with what you say. 😊
Great job
That soft cone is just like a slice of "Honey Pizza"...
The first video of yours I've seen where you didn't find the queen. This just adds to your legend, because it reinforces your integrity. No one could possibly find the queen every time, and perhaps there wasn't one at that time, since you did find queen cells, so even though there were alot of bees here, maybe she swarmed away?
