- In this episode Brett talks euro diverter valves like you may find in a VW, AUDI or other euro turbo car. When he discovered that the diaphragm in his factory Golf GTI Diverter Valve was torn he developed something to replace it...
In this brand new series created by Mighty Car Mods, Go Fast Brett explains all things turbo, blow off valve and choo choo.

It is a great feeling when you know that something you designed is bringing a lot of people joy. Keep up the most excellent work.
Have this on my mk6 GTI. After going Stage 2 I had a horrible whine when WOT and losing boost. Did some research and found the DV could be the culprit. Got a GFB DV+ and it solved all my problems. Holds boost like a champ! Thanks for the fantastic products GFB!
Thanks for your explanation Brett. I am using a GFB Respons in my 05 Impreza and it is a work of art. Love your way of approaching problems which happened to yourself. Keep it up!
I always enjoy how passionate Brett is about this stuff.
I want to find a job like that.
One of the most thorough explanations on CZcams. Great job sir.
I love these tech discussions. Keep em coming!!
These are life changing, my car was as flat as the outback and didn't even realise it!
Would highly recommend!
I've not put my assister spring in yet, but I will when I can get my scan tool.
Great video as always, but are you trying to hypnotize us or just make us dizzy with those fast close-ups and camera angle changes?
Seemed more like it was the best edit for a bad situation. The bits and pieces are small, and Bret kept "talking with his hands" while holding them so it looks like it was difficult to get and keep a close enough shot of the components so you could see what he was talking about as he waved them about. Plus the "script" transitioned very quickly between hands on demo segments which are best suited to a close up, and general information that is best served by the medium shot.
Not insurmountable problems, but maybe not worth whatever considerations are necessary to re-shoot it with everyone's schedules and such.
I have a Peugeot 207GTi, the factory diverter had disintegrated so I replaced it with your GFB DV+, it was quick and easy to install and works perfectly! Cheers.
Holy moly this is a powerful little mod! Well done for making it
Awesome video. Was just looking for information on this the other day. Thank you Brett and MCM!
Great explanation mate, very thorough, clear and easy to understand. Great SIMPLE design 11/10 :)!
One of the best things Ive bought for my GTI. Huge difference in part throttle response
I fitted one of these to my mk5 gti a month ago, awesome bit of kit. A must have upgrade!
Very well thought out piece of kit!
Just ordered a GFB DV+ for my Sentra Nismo. This vid seems to justify the purchase; great information
awesome video explaining this! love it! keep the videos coming!
Good video man, that's a really nice bit of kit.
Installed mine today on my Volkswagen, as the final mod (atleast for this year 😁). Sure. A bit tricky to install. But it works super! Runs with no problems what so ever! Thank you for a good product! Regards from Sweden!
does it give a louder blow off sound
got the exact valve in my MK5 GTI edition30 and I love it :)
Quality peace of kit this DV valve, had one on my Mk5 GTI, and i'm about to install one on my Mini JCW.
Great vid, thanks for explaining
I just ordered a DV+ for my 2014 Volvo S60. I've heard it helps hold boost into the higher RPMs as well. Kind of solving the issue of the car feeling like it falls flat in the high RPM range.
The vid is fine. Great job Brett!
GFB job is awesome! When I turbocharge mais car I certainly will buy some part to support you! Even paying around 100% of it in taxes and shipping to Brazil xD
I will be purchasing soon, thank you very much, sir
Good timing for this video, you may have another customer soon. My 08 GTI keeps throwing codes related to the DV
Love this video! use this on my R56 mini
Got one of these on my Mini, one of the few mods you instantly notice a difference
I have one of these and it's worth a mention that they make your car flutter like a beast especially when running an induction kit
Just received a GFB VTA, from Urotuning for my Mk5 GTI. Can't wait for the slightly more spring weather tomorrow, to affix it. Woosh, a feckin' woosh, homeboy! Keep a look out for maybe a DIY, and eventual roadtrip vlogs soon. I've been around the world, but I think I just found my baby! We shall see though. I have a lot more work ahead. The biggest hurdle is learning the docu script writing, techno bs, getting used to all that; skydive into the unknow feeling.
Audi a4 b8 2.0tfsi with an ie stage 2 tune, catless dp, injen cold air and a gfb dv. The car was stock when I got it and now it's so much more fun to drive. Also did the front resonator delete and rear muffler. I bought the car a year ago and just rebuilt it 5,000 miles ago for oil consumption myself. Add these bolt ons and tune after the rebuild. So glad I kept the car and put my time into it. Maybe a intercooler and k04 in the future but I've invested enough at this point. The gfb dv helped hold the extra boost from the tune and dp
Such a genius little device. Gonna put one on my MK5 GT.
I installed one on my 2015 USDM Fiesta ST, I couldn't believe how flimsy and shitty the factory DV was! Its guts literally fell apart the moment I touched them with any tools to begin this install. Install was really straightforward, parts are very high quality as well as packaging and associated materials (instructions, etc). It really improved with turbo lag between shifts. I've been reading on some forums though, that some people are experiencing low boost "flutter" type noises. I would assume this is normal, as my stock ST with an open airbox had the same flutter type noise on the stock DV. I'm running a COBB CAI (closed airbox system) and man, is this thing quiet yet aggressive sounding, especially if you opted to install both springs (per included instructions)
DV+ GO FAST BRETT Should be Stock on all Turbo cars I love it and Thank you so much for your Design
Would trhese also be found on a TDI and could these be 'fixed' to fill the intercooler faster?
Good stuff man
going to add this in the morning to see if it works on my 2015 turbo fiesta
Getting one of these for my mk5 gti!
I have the GFB DV+ in my 1.4T multiair engine, and I am very happy with it. I read some forum posts that say that the forge valve (which is a direct replacement of the stock diverter valve) is better. They say the forge valve has zero leaks, whilst the GFB one, is better than the stock, but still has some minor leaks. Is that true? My opinion is that the forge one is way more complicated to install, with many more prone-to-fail parts. Brett can I please have your comments on this?
Would it be beneficial to upgrade the valve and also install a spacer? I was looking at this and also the ecs spacer.
Brett, can you make a PCV Bypass kit for the CDNC vag engine please?
The "Africa plate" style one?
I'm sick of changing the factory one, and getting oil in my intake/turbo 😪
Brett is awesome!
Nice.. Do you have the same concept of diverter valve replacement for 2012 BMW X5 E70 50i N63 Engine? If so, where can I check it out?
Will the GFB valve cure the whistling problem the standard Valve creates? Like an intake whistle
I have one of these fitted to my MY11 Polo GTI twincharger. The engine is stock besides the DV+. I haven't dynoed it, but seat of the pants it feels like it holds more boost towards the top of the rev range (above 4000rpm), so I think the factory diverter was bleeding air. The car is DSG so I can't comment on improved throttle response when changing gears.
bro, a question I have a forge relief valve on my mk6 I would like to know if I can add a spacer to the same valve
are oem subaru valves better for a little more boost? thought my donor engine and ecu was stock but its at 17psi and idk much about turbo cars
Genius. Just got mine in.
Can you use this with a "Torque Solutions" diverter valve adapter? I believe that piece is only for the sound, does nothing for specs or function, but it would be great to have both. Reply much appreciated!
Love to have one! But having problem finding it for my Vw Alltrack 2018 1.8 Tsi EA 888 gen 3? I live in Sweden.
Does this also make the noise of the air being released or is that just a blow off valve?
i know the fiesta st suffers greatly from dumping all the boost pressure during shifts. you get back on it and theres a good quarter to a third of a second before it moves. its so slow 0 to 60 because its losing all that time between shifts, and it takes 2 shifts to 60. if these internals do as you say, thats something that is needed on the fiesta st.
I bought mine and the swoosh plate yesterday. Does it come with i instructions?
Great product Brett. I'm getting one tonight for my Mk5 GTi but I still can't decide if I want the one with sound or the quieter one.
I'm doing exactly the same as you tonight, but 4 years down the track... Hopefully, your experience was a good one...
Do you have one that will work on the new 2.7t L3B in the Chevy Silverado and Colorado’s?
I have the DV+ from GFB on my 1.8t Mk4. Super quiet but hold the boost well .Not bad price either.
Brought a Mini Cooper S and my first upgrades are a set of Potenzas and this diverter valve
close up shots move way too much; or use a wider lense or zoom out.
can I get the same PSHHH sound from a DV+ and from a Forge Blow Off Valve?
what happens if i dont use the coil from my original dv and i use the one included in the box, would i get more boost?
Hey would that fit my Opel Imsignia 2.0T? It's the LTG engine and has an electric valve, i guess there are not that many distributors other than Pierburg producing this type of valves.
Would this help my turbo surge at 2k rpms? I also got a bigger intercooler I'm stage 2 w stock intercooler I have my dv n my intercooler ready to be installed so I guess I'll find out soon 🙂 feel free to give me ur opinion or what u know tho
How about maintanance? How often do you need to grease up the piston with fresh Motoroil? TIA 😀
I've got one on my 230bhp 1.4tsi turbo +supercharged seat Ibiza. cheers brett
Any good?
I have VTA for Lexus is200...
I can't take over anymore because I feel there is lag or surge..
Soon as I push the throttle padel down it takes little time to acclarate....
Before I install the gfb item I installed K&N Airfiter.... HPS intake pipe, HPS Charge pipe and HPS Turbo Resonator Delete...
I was taking over so smooth.....
But after installing GFB VTA....
It's hard to take over......
If you have the same problem please tell me how to fix it or what I have to do
I fitted one to my s3 ap and it actually caused compressor surge??!! Was there something I did wrong?🤷♂️🤦 any help would be appreciated.. thanks
Any possibility you could make one that would fit on the Pierburg 7.00175.04.0 valve on Vauxhall Vectra VXR? I could send you my torn valve so you could take some measurements.
Excellent video! Thanks for that. I'm noticing a very clear decrease in performance after 4000rpm in 208 GT. I expect that engine to go up until at least 5k without loosing torque. I'll replace my diverter with a GFB and see what happens. 😁
What happened buddy?
@@bradleywade6471 car exploded
did you do it? got the same car, does it give it a blow off sound?
How do I know which one is for my cars? I looked at the site does not show which valve for which car?
legend brett
Will this affect passing smog? Now that California rolled out a new software that reads ecu.
Can a faulty Standard DV throw out a rich condition code ? Vechile Golf 6 Gti. Did order my GFB DV.
How much boost can this handle? running at around 2.3bar at the moment
How does it, different than the Forge diverter valve?
Is the piston held in purely by pressure?
@MCM TV2 can this work on a 2009 minicooper country man?
Would this part work on mk4 gti?
What can I use for a mk4 GTi 1.8T
Hello MCM TV2 why some spacers have 4 holes and others only 1 please ?
Pretty cool device. Would like it if the video was more focused on showing the item and how it went together and less on fast cuts and handheld camera motion. Visually exciting, yes, but difficult to get a good grasp on the mechanism and it's function.
I just bought one!
its a really smart design.
Brett talking about euro valve stuff while juggling some random bits and pieces
need one for the older 1.8T's I like the shuttle valve idea.
ne2i
The 1.8t is vacuum actuated so the valve isn't like a on off switch like the mk5. I have the GFB DV+ on my 03 works great as a replacement for the stock Bosch DV
Great if found it! Thanks for the tip!
I had this exact valve on my Abarth. It improved driveability a ton. The factory valve was exactly like the VW one... plastic garbage.
Butt Beware - I guess yours is not a uk abarth, I was told the uk one is slightly different
Rb5vega Yep, they're different. North America uses the Multiar engine.
Butt Beware.......lucky
Will it work on my volvo v40 ?
1.9d 2002
What would you say about the forge atmospheric blow off valve?
Mk5 gti 2.0t.
Thanks.
Please.
theblackslcmamba genuine forge parts are great quality, we have them on a sierra cosworth and a zvh escort. the escorts one is over 5 years old and still going strong
I have DV+ on my MINI and I have to say, its a lot better than stock. I had a boost leak and I realized it was the diaphragm that was broken. Brett, I was wondering why DV+ doesn't come with any spring stiffness options? That is always confusing to me. I looked at your competitor like Forge and their DV/BOV setup have many springs included for different pressure.
Ch28Kid
On mine for the mk4 you can put different Lengths bolts in the top and I believe it is like using Stronger or weaker springs in the forge DV. Like setting pre load but I could be wrong.
This is so cool I want to do this but I still have 4 years of college left before I can.
Do i need a tune for the diverter?
How much did Brett drive his GTI with this improved valve? I'm asking because I know the stock ECU will sense that something is wonky at the turbo (pressure does not respond as expected) and it tries to compensate with the ETB, wrecking it in the long run.
tocsa120ls
the kit comes with an assister spring, if you fit the spring it reacts different (priority closed has to snap open) and can bring check light on,
If you don't fit the spring (it's optional as stated in the fitting instructions) it acts like a standard valve, I've ran mine for 15,000 miles and 1 year, 0 problems just huge gains.
I've stop using my GFB on my Peugeot 208 GTi simply because it show error after 2 years of using it, in fact it show twice. So I got it clean and reset error code and after some time it appears again. Now I've use back the stock DV. Does GFB needs constant lubricant on the piston?
daniel loke did u buy the upgraded spring when u fitted the bov spacer mate
I bought one today for my B8 A4 with an APR stage 2. I was getting surge and I am trying to avoid problems down the road.
Did GFB fixed your problem?? Or cause the problem
Blaaaaack.
Does Rake love it?
Great mod to go with a bigger turbo on my Mini Cooper S!
Hey my diverter balve is stuck how can i buy your product
What do I do if I want the turbo flutter?
Does this upgrade also gives you that sneeze??
gahddamn this is genius
