    A robe would be amazing in that Liberty with a matching sleep set.

    Definitely go with silk lounge wear. I have a bunch of luxury fabrics that I bought before I realized I prefer to wear knits on top. Now I’m planning to make myself a collection of yummy robes and caftans. 😍

    The Silk is fabulous, and a dress would be beautiful but I love a nice robe set.

    You received your silky fabric from a special person for a special birthday and I believe that if you make a nice pair of pajamas with matching robe you will feel very special every time you wear them

    I agree with a beautiful sleep set because you'll be able to enjoy wearing it more often. It is a beautiful fabric that looked very good with your skin and eyes when you held it up by your face. Your husband may have to given you the money to buy your gift, but when he sees you wearing this fabric, it will be a really nice gift for him!

    I'm adding my voice to the sleep set/robe chorus. You'll get the pleasure of wearing it more often as PJs and robe than you will with a dress/blouse . . . Some ideas for the robe - Suki by Helens Closet or Alamada by Collette/Seawork. As for PJs, one of my faves is the Ogden Cami for a top. As for shorts/bloomers I have yet to find the perfect pattern. Seamwork's Monroe is lovely if you like the vibe, as is the Harlow PJs (free) from Charm Patterns

    For the special silk ..... sleep set + leftovers for a scarf. My thinking runs something like: it's silk! It's lovely. It fits with the special 30th "touch of luxury" and it would be next to your skin A LOT over the course of the year ... really giving you something special, something cheering and something that feels super deluxe. And, also on the special + wear it as often as possible theme, use some of the leftovers to make a scarf. Again, that's something you can wear right next to your skin around your neck. And I'm thinking fancy scarf on top of a "London uniform" black suit (though it could that off, I'm sure), but more like something you tuck in around the neck of a wooly jumper or just inside your raincoat to have something soft and gorgeous around your neck. My first lesson with silk, though, is that it may have no give whatsoever depending on the weave, so perhaps be a little generous around hips, bust, etc. so you have comfy room for lounging? Good luck -- it looks wonderful.

      Thank you! That's all great tips. I'm thinking I'll make a head scarf with any leftovers to sleep in 😂

    I am Team Sleep Set with a twist: there's no reason you can't make a cami and wear it with jeans or a skirt or whatever you want when you're not sleeping it in. The problem with silk, though, is that it's addicting. I'm super excited to see what you make!

    That liberty silk could not be more Laura if it tried! A sleep set would be fab, perhaps with a short robe you could wear as a daytime piece xx

    I won the Frida pattern and the scissors pin in a giveaway! I will be making the top when the weather gets a bit warmer! I absolutely love the Liberty Silk! A couple of suggestions - if you follow the Dahlia Society- she made a lovely Style Arc dress out of a cotton silk mixture - it’s a style that would definitely suit you! However I know you love a Zadie - how about making a ‘loungewear ‘ version? Very 1930s glamour for reclining on the sofas and watching tv while Nick attends to your needs hahaha! Seriously, I think that would look awesome! 🥰🥰❤️

    My first thought for the gorgeous silk fabric was a pretty summery dress, maybe knee length, with a lined jacket for a topper. I see the jacket made from one of the colours in the fabric and then lined with the silk. Just a thought.

      I'm suddenly worried how much fabric the robe is going to take 🤣

    • @thestripeddaisy
      @thestripeddaisy Před 3 lety

      Yes, I'd go for a shorter one. The one I made that I wouldn't recommend took 3m which shocked me. Thankfully I used some of that viscose twill poundfabrics were selling last spring. The shoulders would fit a very large man. Such a waste of fabric and your liberty is far too precious for that. I'll message you soon. I hope you, Nick and the Pixel are well?

    That fabric is just stunning! I think a simple blouse and then a really special robe is a good compromise between having a bit of something that will be "seen" (and a silk blouse is easier to dress down than a silk dress), and something special you will wear often.

    • @TheSpeckySeamstress
      @TheSpeckySeamstress  Před 3 lety

      That's true, I'm hoping if I make a cami and a robe I will get the best of both worlds

    Love the silk. It would make a lovely kimono style full length dressing gown - very glam, and light on luggage allowance when travel and holidays return to normal. Lovely to see you back.

    Hey Laura! Hope all is well, I was curious about the bias tape that you started a business back in the fall and was taking orders. I purchased an order and was wondering if you are filling orders yet?

      Hi Rachel, thanks for reaching out! I have your pledge down as a donation, rather than a pledge, I reached out back through crowdfunder to see if this was correct or not as a few people made donations by mistake. Drop me an email on thespeckyseamstress@gmail.com and I'll get your order sorted 🙂
