  • Hunting a loaf pond can be a little tricky. It’s hard to know how to set the spread and what the birds you’re going to be hunting have actually been seeing. Joey and Cal have some advice to help avoid those birds from short stopping you. We also talk about a few ways you can set decoys to give a more realistic look to your spread. Have questions? Shoot us a DM and let us know how we can help! Thanks for following along and let us know what we can talk about next!

If it were me and i was hunting a loaf pond i would use gilly blankets with the chair from dive bomb. I think that would work just as good as layout blinds and more easier to transport. Just my thoughts.

I with the fella that said he starts with small amount acting as if they are the first ones to the hole and what I do is put a few more floaters and full bodies hid near by so once we shoot at first group or so I will then add more decoys acting as if the numbers have increased for the following bunches that are used to coming to the pond later when more birds are there already. And I agree keep them close to edge of pond unless stuff is really off those birds should pretty much work with no issues because most likely these birds have been using this pond and not being disturbed for some time so mostly have no fear of using that hole. But in same breath we try not to hunt loafs till end of season because once you hit them hard they are gone and pond won't be the same till it gets time to rest. I'm in Maryland also might be a little different then what others might do
