I could hit off Skenes... if he pitched from 2nd base 😂
😂
Not even bro 💀
I could too.... but only if he pitched from center field.
@@davidlawler8707 Me, center field seats lol
I think I could do it if he started in the San Francisco Bay
Every time I think of the sweeper I think of Jose Fernandez who legitimately had one of the best sweepers in baseball history…it just wasn’t called that when he was active.
Totally agree! He was my single favorite pitcher to watch for a variety of reasons. Incredible talent.
RIP Jose
Christopher Sanchez recovering from a line drive comebacker to his throwing hand to strike out the side cemented him as the Phils 5th starter to me. Dude is tough as nails.
i could def see skenes getting started in the majors when he gets picked. dont wanna waste his arm in the minors for a couple years then when he gets called up he's only throwing 97-98. just stick him up there while hes pumping 100-101 thru 120 pitches and see what happens
great point
Bauer is on fire in Japan. Last outings 10k, 9k, 12k complete game.
maybe that would be relevant if he wasnt a massive POS 🔥
Love the guy.
Roki Sasaki is more experienced than Skeenes.
Yep--totally agree.
Sasaki was bawling when he gave up that 3 run homer in WBC. He might have more pitching experience but he lacks emotional maturity. Good thing he's got years left in NPB to grow a thicker skin.
Don’t know how it happened, but I think that is one of, if not Joey Wentz’s best career start. Hope he can have more consistent outings like this in the future.
It was against the Twins. 😅 That’s how it happened. The Twins make any pitcher look like a cy young winner.
@@FTLnovaKid yeah I guess you’re right. Then again detroit kinda does the same thing
Man do I love the ghost fork, such a beautiful motion on that pitch.
Skenes looks incredible. 👍
Would you take him over Dylan Crews if you were the Pirates?
@@jimc.goodfellas226 Honestly, I don't know enough to have a firm opinion. I don't pay as much attention as I used to.
Welcome to Pittsburgh, young fella 🥹
My favorite part of every morning ❤
I thought about the Sasaki comp when you brought skenes onto my radar but id have to take Sasaki since hes a more polished talent with pro ball experience but Skenes is for sure on that same talent level
it's interesting because Skenes has more "MLB SP ready stuff" imo than Sasaki who as far as I know is still mostly going FB, Sinker. Skenes changeup and slider are so damn good for a college pitcher, but Sasaki's sinker is possibly one of the best pitches I've ever seen. Sasaki is still so young it will be interesting to see how he continues to develop.
@@mobogdan4683 Sasaki throws 4seam, fork, slider and averages 12 inches of vert and 15 horizontal on his 4seam so that might be why youre confusing it with a sinker but his 4seam is just that electric. Only reason im giving it to Sasaki is his 2 years of pro ball with insane stats
“would u rather have sasaki or skenes?”
my answer: yes.
Love Senga man I hope the Mets respect how great he can potentially be for them and give him as much time as he needs
really interested in Kellers sweeper grip
I would take sasaki instead of Skenes because I’ve seen sasaki freeze mlb hitters instead of college prospects
So you would have passed on Strasburg. Gotcha.
@@mmclaurin8035 he never played a full season
it's crazy to me how anyone can get a hit off of snell's slider. i dont think that pitch is talked about enough. literally looks like his fastball but disappears over the last few inches. it's insane
It doesn't get talked about because he loses it very easily during games. When it's on I agree with you though
A few years ago during his insane 2018 it was always talked about. When he starting throwing it more often after that and was getting hit more often it lost its luster. But this year with him throwing it less often and using it like he did in 2018 it's having very good success
I’m taking skenes because he will last longer as he is younger and he will give me long outings most of the time and he keeps his velo all the way through his outing
I'm taking Roki because anyone can sign him as a FA, while the Nats or Pirates are only teams with shot at Skenes.
I don’t know if you noticed but the wake forest starters’ mom had some pitching ninja earrings on!
Skenes has Strasburg written all over him: the best pitching prospect but wasn't before the season, Chase Dollander of Tennessee was
Skenes has that weird 3/4 delivery and will have elbow issues without question
Roki Sasaki has been pitching against pro players for the last 2 plus years and hence he should be slight ahead of Skenes.
Totally agree with taking Sasaki, personally.
Skeenes is amazing, but it's kinda sad he gave up on being a two-way player. It might be a long time until we see another one.
There's a guy on the Gators that is 2024 eligible and is a 1st round talent on both sides. Jack Caglione I believe is his name.
I got Musgrove for 6+ Ks & Padres to W for today.
Mariners relievers really like White Castle’s sliders 😂😂😂
Should be interesting to see how long his arm holds up in the big leagues. Ill give him 2-3 seasons.
Degrom throws fast too... When healthy ha
Wish my rangers could get Skenes 😢
You use SWORD. Please start adding Trevor Bauer starts?😊
I’m a LSU fan but Roki is just to good for skeenes, like the guy is 21-22 and has already pitched against the best competition in the world
I wish we could just see Skenes immediately against MLB guys after the draft but whoever takes him will most likely be extremely careful with him.
I’m Japanese so I’m a bit biased but I would take roki over skenes since he’s already has pro experience under his belt and that level is gonna help him out a lot when he comes to the states
And, somehow TB is now hitting 99. He is doing his nerd calculus to reach 100.
Skenes is the clear choice
Skeens is a Randy Johnson
They are always generational talents until they inevitably get injured and need Tommy John.
Gerrit Cole's done pretty darn well for himself. And most would take Stephen Strasburg's career, despite his injury.
This guy seems like he's barely using his arm, the guys a tank.
@@bp341 Let's hope for his longevity 👍
@@PitchingNinjaVideos Just unfortunate for Jacob deGrom, dude is an animal when he is healthy.
Fastest pitch I ever put in play in HS was like 96-97 and like bro it felt like my hands were gonna vibrate off of my arms. Idk how these guys get anywhere close to a 100mph cheese ball with 12 inches of run. It’s dumb
tommy john incoming
Im trying to think of a college starter that jumped straight into the mlb?
Skeans surely will do just that.
Garrett Crochet, CWS in 2020
I mean, am I the only one that thinks, man they sure are letting Skenes throw a lot of pitches
Yeah they really risking his future but he probably has a say if he wants to continue pitching deep into games ,but tbh if his velocity is not really dropping then I guess hes still got plenty in the tank
The only people who think he’s throwing “a lot of pitches” are the people who only tune in and see his highlights and don’t really follow Lsu. 100 pitches give or take a few is what he’s thrown in all his starts. There was one exception in which he threw like 121 pitches or something around there and that was only because Jay Johnson had set it up to where Skenes got an extra day of rest, 1 more than he normally gets between outings. And guess what happened on the last pitch of that “extended outing”… he was still at 101 mph. He probably could have thrown more lol…
The dude is a hoss. He is used to putting a ton of work on his body and arm. He used to be a catcher and then in games when they’d put him in as relief or to close a game out, he would also bat as well… he did all that while at Air Force so he had to do all those Air Force duties or whatever they have to do and then go do all that work in a baseball game.
He said one of the best things that has helped him improve so much this year at Lsu is just the extra sleep he’s been able to get. The dude is just a fricken machine. He’s a work horse and truly an amazing/special talent. If he felt like he was tired or was throwing to many pitches he would say something, he’s not shy and he knows his body really well.
Sasaki because forkballs are cool
How can a college player play in the MLB but also college?
Bieber pitched 7.1, not 4.1.
Yep. My bad. Typo in my own notes. I watched the game, but read my notes Ron Burgundy style.
C.B. Bucknor is downright horrible. He and Angel Hernandez absolutely do not deserve to continue being Major League Baseball umpires. They're flat-out terrible and no one likes them. Why the hell do they still have jobs?
Skenes was absolutely filthy yesterday, his fastball is literally the holy trinity of velocity, movement, and control. Dude was out there painting with whiffle balls.
That being said Sasaki has proven himself against higher competition, and he did have that perfect game and then almost had another perfecto his very next outing. Really tough to pick just one but I think we can all agree the futures for these two young horses is blinding.
Also shout-out to the Giants kicking the fecal matter outta the Dodgers 15-0, always good to see that.
For reals MLB umps are closing in on NBA refs as the worst officials in sports. Bucknor and Hernandez still employed is an absolute joke.
Skenes is major league ready. If the team who drafts him sends him to the minors- what a fuckin waste that would be. He’s ready right now
Yeah i’m not really sure what he needs to develop at this point. He has three strong pitches that he locates with.
Color me unsurprised when skenes wins up like de grom...
Will have arm issues within a year probably
I feel like it needs to be talked about more how awful it is to watch pitches from lefties due to the camera angle, I doubt it will change but watching lefty breaking balls and sinkers looks so bad from the right-handed over the shoulder angle
1000% agree. It's why I end up featuring LHPs less often...it just doesn't look as impressive
Sasaki > Skenes
Skenes will likely wear a Braves uniform.
rather have Roki. Skenes is impressive, but Roki is otherworldly.
I agree.
Why is Skenes still in college ? Go straight to MLB tonight, do not pass Go.
Here is the gospel: God says that we are sinners and that no
amount of good works or behavioral changes on our part could ever
make us holy enough to enter heaven. God sent His Son to pay for
all of our sins. Jesus paid for our sins by dying on the cross for
us all. His dead body was buried in a grave. On the third day, Jesus
arose from the dead.
The instant you believe this, He knows it and He saves you.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life”(John 6:47). The free gift is based solely upon your trust
in what Jesus did for you and has nothing at all to do with what you
do for Him. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should
boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
nah
Unfortunately, unless Skenes adopts a radical stretching and nutrition program like Ryan did, he will probably get TJ, loose 5MPH, and be out of the league in 5-8 years
Agree
Might be time for CB to retire.
8:30 both, obviously. lol
