It's funny with CGC cause they are so strict on centering of the card when grading but their own label is off centered
The odd thing is, not all CGC labels are off center… I have a few CGC slabs and none of them are off center. I don’t know why some end up off center while some are perfectly centered… maybe it has something to do with the printer being used to print the labels?
Ironic you could say
hasnt CGC corrected this and explained why this happened though?
Ohohohoh
Maybe there should be a grade grading company? One that grades graded cards? 🤔🤔
I've been specifically buying CGC for Water Pokémon. My God my Gold Star Suicune just looks absolutely amazing with a blue label rather than the PSA red label.
I also noticed this haha. Water Pokemon are heading to cgc !
My 1st Edition Dark Espeon looks great in CGC
I bought a cgc 8 blastoise base set and I couldn’t agree more that blue looks amazing
Interesting take! I personally love that blue. BGS slab looks the best though, I think.
So weird you say that - but makes so much sense. My entire display is psa except 2 random cgc slabs : Nessa full art (water-type trainer) and legendary collection dark vaporeon holo
Thank you I needed this video especially what cards to grade or not
Great vid!
I think alternate arts look so much better in CGC slabs cause they kinda give a comic book art type vibe where there is a lot of action and movement. CGC is the king of comics so it just makes sense
Thanks so much for this
Thank you for this content. Sitting on a ton of cards I want graded but wasn’t sure who to use
You explained these so well, seriously took a lot of stress off for me!
Great video. I'm sure there are people just like me who had questions about grading and you answered them all. Nice job.
Pokemon Grading company only does Pokemon cards and merchandise. Their facilities use higher tech and I got my cards back from them within a month. ALL the other ones take months. I think I payed $50 for 20 cards to be graded, can't beat it.
Cgc by far is the best 👌 comics they are number 1 just wait they will be better than psa soon!
This was very informative as someone who plans on grading their own cards in the future. Great video Jake!
Man, Jake with another clutch video as I look to get my 500 card mint collection graded soon. Wish me luck.
i think I have about 50 charizard/reshiram and 20 pikachu cards i need to get graded asap, the rest can wait lol
I think I'll use PSA for my baseball cards
We loved this video dude!! Was just asking you this question the other day, thanks for making this video! Loved seeing all 3 of the grading company’s slabs next to each other,
Jake grading the graders 😂😂
Looking forward to this one Jake 🏴❤️
Been waiting for a video like this!!! Most videos are outdated, especially with the pandemic- where pokemon card's worth have fluctuated, longer waiting times for grading...etc
I got bday pika hut on my bday
hoping rumours of PSA opening a EU/UK office is true
Oh man I'd be excited for this!
I wish that to be true, I'd forgive year turnaround 🤣
october 1st uk cgc opening for grading I have confirmed with cgc myself, Psa maybe next year
@@JoeGCards ohhh boy! If that is true I'm gonna submit my cards day1 🤣
Do a vid on the leaked anniversary cards
I have all three, and I'm not going to lie, I'm preferring CGC. They grade harder and the quality of the slab is higher
Their number isn’t even aligned in the white box how is the quality higher
@@lun7n yeah i have that complaint too
Its blue, it doesn't curl to shit like a psa label
@@lun7n he's talking about the actual slab itself..which in my opinion is the nicest of the 3, but their label just ain't it
The slab is amazing, but the label is trash. BGS is what I'm sticking to until CGC steps it up a bit.
I’ve picked up a few CGC 9s and 10 Pristines for WAY cheaper than their PSA equivalents and the cases to me are completely fine. I also like the sub grade info.
That’s the move. A lot of people are sleeping on that. It’s a great time to scoop up CGC 9’s and 10’s before they get valued at the same
I don’t have any subgraded ones😢
We need an updated version
I've seen a cgc with white on the back edges
Bgs has the best looking slab i think
Another great video Jake, how do you keep being this amazing?
As a long time PSA person Ive started to prefer CGC more. PSA always has a cracked case or a hair trapped in the case whenever I get an order back. And CGC is way stricter on their grades and Ive tested it numerous times. CGC has graded tougher every time. I have PSA 10s from the late 00s that look worse than current PSA and CGC 9s so I feel like the early pokemon psa market is saturated with cards that arent worthy of their grades. Id rather have a tougher grade than easy 9s/10s. I currently have about 200 cards at PSA and about 500 at CGC cant wait for them to come back to papa!
100% agree. PSA's quality control has been suffering for a while, even before the recent boom. Combine that with their rather inconsistent grading, and that has just burned me too many times. I have many PSA 10's that definitely wouldn't have gotten a CGC 10 that's for sure. I think that's what makes PSA so much more dominant though, they were easier to get a 10 with compared to BGS, and since everyone wants their stuff to come back 10, they were sent to PSA. This is where the consistency issue comes in. They appear to have recently started to become more strict as a response to this/ some would say pop control, and that is the last thing you want from a grading company. If you sent a card 2 years ago you had a good shot at a 10 with PSA, now you're looking at 8's and 9's. This is also a reason PSA cert numbers in the high 5's and into the 6's are typically going for more because the card inside is probably more deserving of that 10.
CGC slab is the best of the 3 grading services. It's thicker and like Jake said very smooth. I had no idea PSA slabs were so thin
@@ealbar1 exactly, i did get my kingdra 1st edition neo holo back from PSA. It did get a 9.
Meanwhile i saw 2 10s so far that are looking like 8s if mine is a real 9. 🥴
Im a new pokemon buyer. Im only buying PSA fam. CGC looks too cheap.
PSA for selling and storing, BGS have the strongest cases imo, and CGC for water pokemon 😂😁
You opening that marnie box on your channel? 👀 🔥
Yes. Review is out tomorrow
@@TwicebakedJake I'm seeing great pull rates 🙏 🙌
BGS slabs just looks so sexy . Slabs are meant to be displayed . If im tryna display I want it to look nice
So you’re the one who bought that!! I was watching that BGS listing on ebay and got super sad when it was sold. Oh well, you snooze you lose. I’m at least glad it found a good home!
I should be getting my cards back sometime in September from MNT Grading. I'm super excited since there very similar to beckett Grading and look of the slab label. From what i seen they should have no problem being a go to reputable Grading service.
Agree! MNT is strong in most sides (slab quality, strictness, service, price, speed). I've been sent mine to them as well. The only drawback is that as a Canadian company they might not be the first choice of collectors in the States.
@@allison5389 That is true, i think in more time it'll pick up momentum and eventually get close to Psa and bgs level. I love that there strict with their grading. PSA had alot of cards get misgraded, I'm not bashing them but definitely not always consistent. Once i get my cards back everything comes back well, I'll definitely be supporting our Canadian friends alot more.
Hga is affordable ans with new management I can see them in the top 4 soon
I've been thinking about MNT grading
nice video!!
I wondring, are psa, cgc and becett using perfect fit sleeves inside there slabs? If bot they should do it to protect the card iside the slab
Cgc
Thank you for another great video, ever since my son showed me your channel I've been watching all the videos, your one of the people who influenced him to start his own pokemon channel hrs only 11 so he's taking it slow but thanks for all the great work
PSA is the best!!!
Amazing thumbs up 👍
Awesome comparisons Jake! I recall you saying something before like CGC is pretty good for grading non-perfect cards because of the lower cost and relatively decent grades you can still get!
I have a flashfire m charizard ex and well should i get it graded? Its in near mint condition
You're flexing with those cards man 😂 Great video
I'm lookin forward to ACE grading to come to the U.S.,the color matching option is gonna be big!
I don’t think ACE grading will Ever come here
@@tristenwells7762 actually the co owner already said that they would expand over time.
PSA is missing the center, corner, edge, and surface labels. BGS has their lettering font too close and small. CGC is near perfect with the big grading number, but it is off center with that 8.
Where do you buy your Japanese cats (Typo but Its funny so I'll leave it in) ?
My hope is to get a BGS 10 Black Label on a full art.
Hey Jake, yesterday I traded a super Nintendo and a couple shining fates V boxes and booster packs and a hidden fates ETB for a sealed Marnie premium collection box sealed. Super happy I was able to do that. I also was able to get the Shining fates charizard Vmax and pokemon Emerald.
I have a gold star Mudkip…What do you suggest?
personally i prefer cgc over psa. i cant stand how small the grade is on psa. if i have a graded card i want people to be able to tell what grade the card is from across the room. plus cgc is affordable unlike becket.
I need the birthday pikachu promo in psa 10 for my master set of wotc black star promos. Extremely expensive in a 10!!
The whole grade 9 vs grade 10 discrepancy between PSA and Becket was very well summarized in this video 👍🏻
bgs is the best by far in my opinion
its my B-day today and you drop a video featuring birthday pikachu. i think its a sign i need to pick one up
in my country PCA seems to be the norm. The slabs that I've seen of them seem to be of very good quality
I’ve always loved BGS more but my entire collection is PSA highest value and most my stuff is vintage which is a must send to PSA thinking of sending moderns to BGS
im waiting for Ace grading to open :)
CGC is going to become the new top dog
What’s the deference between a a cgc label with just the number and the CGC with the sub grades
Is it personally worth sending only one card to psa? For example, I have a rainbow vstar charizard. Would psa be the best case longer term, from a collection and possibly investment point of view or cgc?
I got a gem mint ten of that bad boy 😋
As someone who is newly getting back into collecting Pokemon cards, would you suggest waiting for PSA to catch up and lower their prices? Do you think PSA will ever lower prices or will they keep them high?
This kind of question don't let me sleep
Update on this Jake - do you still feel this way?
I really like CGC, just wish it wasn't so hard to get 10. BGS is my fave, but dont have any. All my pokemon are PSA and Full art trainers are CGC
Jake, as a new Card Collector I was wondering where do you recommend buying Graded Cards from? Thank you.
I heavily prefer BGS, but if I was having cards graded which I sent things to would really depend on the card.
Which will have the better resale value? I’m looking at grading my cards out of an investment option. CGC and Becket are both cheaper than PSA per card but will I get more out of PSA grades?
I have hundreds of cards where can I send all of them to find out which cards hold value
I saw sun and moon etb on the shelf. I know its a reprint so it may or may not rise in value. Should I keep it sealed or open it?
Actually I'd say I like bekket, it's more precise with the sub grades and gives you more info.
what about AGS AI grading. Removing human error.
BGS labels and slabs look best to me, I like the value and reputation of PSA, and I do like the price and turnaround times comparably with CGC, so I’ll probably use all three depending on the card, I’m not too ocd about all one company.
Jake, I have a question, what are you doing with your ungradable cards? You said you don't sell any card ungraded...? Do you keep all of them?
Cgc for the win in my eyes, sometimes you can get 9-10 far cheaper than psa, big time score in that aspect.
Crazy how you placed beckett as number two, but now CGC is second now. Beckett is falling out of the grading service. I believe this can be because CGC and Beckett have the same concept in grading. CGC slab is very nice and the best in my opinion.
You mentioned the cost of grading depends on your cards value AFTER grading. But what if you don’t know the cards value; which is why you are getting it graded? Like I opt for the cheapest grading but the card ends up being worth say $500? Do they charge me more to get the card back? Or if I send 25 cards in at the $18/each price, it is what it is once I get them all back?
The value after grading is mainly used for insurance in case of lost or damage. As long as you are being reasonable in your valuation of it then you will not be surcharged for increase value. Unless the value is egregiously difference. But in that case it just means your card is worth significantly more than what thought, which isn't a bad thing either.
I need some advice, should i buy a vivid voltage booster box or a hidden fates etb?
All 3 are good. I'm mainly a Pokémon collector so for that I go to PSA, I prefer their case, submitting cards on the site is straight forward and when trying to complete sets, majority I find are PSA graded. However if at some point I decide to go with other TCG, then I'd probably go with Beckett. I've owned a couple of MTG cards and they look very nice in a Beckett case. Or if there is a Pokémon card that PSA won't grade, example a lot of foreign cards, then I'll send to BGS.
Is there a way to proof that you own the first pokemon card ever graded by psa?
Kinda off topic but 9.5 and 10 birthday pikachus are so hard to come by! My holy grail card is a gold label birthday pikachu from BGS because of how good it looks.
not a black label?
I like GMA.
I like SGC for their case though.
And I have seen PSA passing stuff for 10's that should have graded an 9 or 8. Their standards really need to improve.
Why some sellers censor parts of the PSA slabs?
Very topical with all the youtubers opening up their own grading services!
Other than Randolph / graded gem with Ace grading, which other CZcamsrs have started their own grading services?
@@lostcausecollectibles Adrive recently bought into the grading authority
@@heatvw1079 f that guy. He’s just in it for the money unlike Randolph that actually has a passion for all of this.
I'm considering CGC because they grade tougher and I like that. I have a shadowless zard and I'm trying to debate where to send him to. Help lol.
My question is which ones does it faster i know psa makes u wait 2 years or so 😢
Beckett all the way.
The websites make it so confusing... how much is it per card? If I'm reading this correctly, it costs $150 per card? This can't be real right? I just watched a video of someone getting 250 cards back from psa, no way he paid nearly $40,000 for this.
SO which one should we use now? because PSA is out of the question for the near future for price and time.
Becket is second because people know that it's way more strict about their grading even when it would be a 10 they just be putting 9.5 just so it won't be a 10 lmao
Hi Jake have you heard about HGA grading? They offer customized slabs
What do u think about ace grading tho.
They say it will be good but I am not so sure
Hey Jake do you think its worth it to buy a build & Battle kit to hold it? 😀😊
Bekett only gives black label for 10’s on all categories. I had 1 9.5 and got the gold label 10
While I own a couple of PSA slabs, I'm brand new to getting my own cards graded. I've got nothing worth spending $300 getting graded by the premium PSA/Beckett services right now. So it's really hard to decide what companies to go for. I have a dozen or so cards with PCA, since they've been around for a few years already, but there are so many start-up grading companies it's hard to tell what's good and what's not. These companies might be throwing around 10s like there's no tomorrow, which means nothing.
I just want to send my cards to Jake for review. That's all I need as a small and humble collector.
Hey Jake, do you have any experience with off centered grading? I have a card that is very off centered and was wondering how to know if it is eligible for off centered grading? Anybodys insight on this is greatly appreciated.
I have a card that I pulled a couple of days back and I’m not sure if I should get it graded. Where can I go to find if it’s worth doing?
cgc is my personal favorite in my opinion it has the best designed label clearest slab sub grades strict grading all around very well
PSA is so overated used all 3 CGC is my go to.
