@Joseph C. I've had a great experience with CGC. They're a little tougher than PSA, but are nothing like what I just saw in this video with Beckett. I think psa is a little to lenient, and CGC is just about right on how a card should be graded.

I Beckett 9 amounts to a PSA 10. There is a reason Beckett 10’s and black labels get premium prices on the market.
Yet BGS seems remarkably inconsistent.

You got 6s from pack pulled cards. 6 means there is chipping, notching, stains, fuzzy corners, etc. It is INSANE to get a 6 on a carefully packed card. A 6 is typically like...a kid put them in their pocket to bring them to school for trade before sleeving and top loading them.
After watching this I can confidently say I’m never grading my cards with Beckett.

Beckett the others are much easier to get high marks which makes people go to other companies. All those 9.5 would be 10's at the other grading places.
How come? honestly feel like Beckett is the best just because you can add sub grades and see what a card didn't get a 10, Plus they do .5 grading whereas PSA rarely does. Labels also look cooler and the cases seem more durable
@@Mysticfateee how come? Watch the video again lol. Never was gonna do Beckett, but after seeing this, I'll completely stick to PSA. Hell nah are people going to fail grading my cards because of some ghost colour added, madness. That Bill in the video either didn't have a great day or saw the smallest thing ever and couldn't grade, which is such bs, there simply wasn't anything to see. So weird. I'm glad Rev did this video and informed us.
It's sad they see a submission like Revs with a 100 and tell Bill to be hard on him cause they Know Rev can offord to send more in. These cards were clean

All grading companies should be required to sent the reason for the grade with the card. It’s just wild someone could be upset that day and be a garbage individual who takes it out on a PAYING customer. It’s wrong man.

Why would they bother? There's really no need. They could charge extra for it sure. They're fairly reputable tbf? Imagine how much longer that would take, it takes them long enough to get the cards back to you as it is 😂
They do, that’s what subgrades tell u but it’s very stupid BGS/CGC charge extra for this when that’s literally the point of using their company..
@@matthewcahill1749 bro they do.. it’s called subgrades but rev didn’t pay extra to have them on the label. It’s super stupid they charge extra to print the label properly, the numbers are calculated regardless and that’s why people use BGS/CGC 🤦♂️
Honestly this makes me question card grading as a whole more than just Beckett. It just goes to show that the grade is subjective to the individual grading more than the standards of the company and community.
That's why you grade with AI first. Ie. MANA. Get all the exact attributes and then send to Beckett with full AI lookup. It's easy to get black labels, and you know which ones will regrade black label before submitting. Beckett doesn't want to look stupid, so they use the already thoroughly graded AI attributes. They know that they can't grade better than laser measurements, so they give you what AI gave you.
it really does, but i’ve always known it was BS. Because you can look at 2 of the same cards in the same condition and get a different grade. Or crack a case and resend it and get a different grade.

I feel like the only bad outcome would be that you wasted x amount of money on the original grading and everything, but if you could get a PSA 10, it would probably be worth it, but no idea if people actually do this often...
I'd honestly crack one of each different type of card maybe 2 high grades and 2 low grades...make sure you keep track of what the original grade is. Send the same cards back to the same grading company and see if the grade changes more than half a point. If all of em or more than half are over a point different that the original than I would question their grading in an email, phonecall...fb post...or someway that notifies th of the inconsistency...but I personally would wanna be on the phone with someone...trying to recoup some $$
Beckett in my experience tends to under grade cards. A Becketts 6.5 alot of times will grade between a 7.5-8.5 at PSA. If you're gonna use Beckett only send the best cards you have and look them over carefully. Beckett grades do carry a higher premium for anything over a 9.5. Black label 10s carry a stupid premium over PSA 10s for the same card. Sorry Beckett burned you on some of those cards.

I never had any problems with Beckett…. Even a few Black Labels are in my collection

I’m gonna keep it 💯 here. No offense to “Bill” but these were graded so poorly. These are straight from the pack, into a sleeve and sent in. The centering isn’t bad from what I’m seeing and unless the corners or edges are trash, there’s no reason for that many 7’s and 8’s LET ALONE 6’s
These people are paid to provide a service and we know people are grading out of jealousy or taking their day out on customers. It’s disgusting man lol

American cards are made in a way where it's easy for improfections and Becketts standards for grading is way more strict then CGC or PSA

They're told by Beckett to do this so people don't send a ton of bulk cheap cards in and they keep population reports low.
Straight from the pack and into a sleeve doesn’t mean anything.. and for how English cards are printed this is basically what to expect. 8s-9.5s are as good as it gets unless u know what perfection looks like
CGC once gave me an "inked" mark on the back. I looked all over the card and I found a weird light/dark ink blur, but I know for a fact it wasn't inked because it was pulled straight from a pack. I feel like these graders sometimes don't account for factory ink errors. To be fair I do respect and like CGC grading, but every business has Quality control/employee aspects that could result in failures.
Yeah. I wonder if it's a fact of they know the possibilities of factory error but there's no way to differentiate the difference between purposely inked or inked after the fact compared to factory error, so you kinda just have to say it's inked just based off that there is even a small chance it's not factory

I mean there has to be some references and ways to consult rather than just saying “inked” there is science behind is topic -and if your paying between 20-100 dollars for a card to be graded, the effort should be there.
OMG I know the feeling!!! I deal with cards, coins and currency and grading companies are spot on or off....I am debating using AGS from my norm of PSA for my cards and using CACG from using PCGS/NGC.
Yes Beckett are really tough but 9.5 in beckett is equivalent to PSA 10, in the hockey cards world Beckett is the garded cards that are worth the most.

I thought sixteen months was bad for a quarterly special from PSA at 8$ a slab. You sent a submission off almost two years ago and got it back and didn't even know what it was. At least PSA sends an email saying hey your cards are done. That was a rough submission and it's nice to see that BGS makes stuff up to not grade cards as well because of the overwhelming backlog that is the current status of card grading.

Rev, this is absolutely crazy! Can you have these re-graded with PSA? Even looking from here they don't look like 7's and 8's.. unbelievable.
He wouldn’t make anywhere near enough money for crossover to be worth it. He’s already neg from all the product and grading fees on relatively cheap cards.

Yeah, I understand it wouldn't be worth it because of the cost, but id want to for the better grade. Imo, psa grades the card for what it is. The other guys don't always do that..
This is why I’m starting to trust other grading companies like AGS that’s use machines and software to grade their cards and are transparent with their customers About their process

We also have a grading company here called Absolute Objective Grading. These also have an artificial intelligence-supported, highly objective evaluation method
with additional validation by specialists.
Everything is transparently explained on the homepage, how the assessment works and what is assessed and how. In addition, the customer repeatedly receives emails with the current status. At the end you can look at your own cards to see exactly what the shortcomings were.
Beckett and PSA can learn something from that
I haven't graded with AGS yet, but I've heard more and more good things about them over the past few weeks and I'm hoping they continue to grow and eventually become the gold standard.
I can see a lot of marks on the 6.5 shining ho-oh but i dont think it should be as low as 6.5

Place the “inked/color” color cards in between a few cards. And look at the edges of the card. I think thats where they are indicating ink. You may see it there.

We have some cards that were pulled or purchased and looking at them we thought we might have a good chance at a Beckett 10 (Under light and magnifying glass, even measuring the centring on the cards). After seeing this we will definitely not be sending and will stick to PSA. It just makes NO sense if we wanted to sell the cards later on and make some income from it.
Cards are cut. Sometimes some colour from the front gets onto the side of the cards, in this case, the yellow might be slightly visible if you look at that .5 of a millimeter thick side of the card. Often when people touch up cards with a pen or pencil or marker, it also leaks onto the side of the card, where is it supposed to be white. To be on the safe side, they'll just say it's touched up with colour then, even if it's fresh from a pack. You know that it is, but they don't, after all.
Then clearly they aren't that precise on their grading if they are making that big of errors on top of that assuming that those two cards are altered when there is absolutely no reason to believe that those two out of the 100 or so he sent in, would be touched up somehow.
On the second ungraded pikachu I saw barely visible darker coloring. Probably just how the card normally looks but it could be something else I have no idea why Bill was having a rough day.
Definitely think you have a good shot at a black label with 100 cards and the first one being a 9.5
Also like to add i love watching your videos, honestly nothing against Leonhart who i also watch but your videos are just a tone more fun to watch. Even remember watching a few live opening streams a few years ago when i had the time. If it wasn't for you and Leonhart i wouldn't have started collecting myself

Beckett seems to just give random numbers. I feel like you can take out send in and regrade one of the 6.5s and they will give you like a 9 on it if you regrade it enough
I'd be interested in seeing some of these cards cracked and submitted to CGC for a direct comparison. I often see people say CGC is the toughest, but they seem much more fair.

I definitely feel like you have a chance at a black label! Beckett seems to be a really tough grading system but you seem to have some good luck with graded cards.

Imagine they put silver on the label then you turned it over and got a black label 10
You'd probably have to hold a special light up through the card, and I wonder then if something would pop up. Could be a printing error honestly, extra ink got dripped onto the edge of the card, and with a light held up through it looks funny. They probably have to do that, because some people might take a card that has some whitening on it, and add color to hide the whitening for the grade.

You should send the “recolored” cards and all the 7.5s and lower to PSA to see what they all get.

Hey I’m new to your channel and love your content, super entertaining and informative. Honestly I was wanting to send cards to BGS because of the name and I love the aesthetic of their slabs. However after watching your video turned me off from wanting to send anything to them, the insanity of getting a 6.5 from a slightly off center card that was freshly pulled is unfair due to bills opinion. Anyways keep up with these entertaining videos every time!

okay so this isn’t a proven fact, but I’ve heard Beckett RARELY if ever gives 10s if you dont pay for subgrade nowadays.
The reason i’ve heard is that you can’t actually see what they remove grades for, so to keep population of cards down they pretty much take it out on cards that people dont pay to subgrade
Again this is all stuff ive heard not something I know for sure
This last point is just my theory though, but lots of people who subgrade and get like an 8 on centering for example but the card is obviously not that off centered, can be like “ok beckett doesnt know what they’re doing”
I wish I could find the video again but it was a guy talking about Beckett grading and how cards where they graded centering an 8 literally had measurement perfect centering. As in the person sent in only cards where they had been measured from the outside to the inside and inside to outside. Front/back, Top/Bottom.
That really makes this all seem extra sketch to me. And since there aren't any sub grades you have no clue what is making them grade pack fresh cards this way. And considering the amount not a single 10 and only one 9.5 I think? On top of the "evidence of added ink" claim makes me think this is some bullshit.
Grading like this is why I’ve chosen to keep everything in binders now. I’m tired of the grading companies giving ridiculous grades.

As a card grader myself i can explain why the grader did not grade those cards, its because the card board between the front and back (sides of the cards) are blue instead of white. This look a lot like someone used ink from a pen to alter the edges, however the grader made a mistake since this was not altered but this was a very common print error on modern cards 😬

I feel like for the amount of money you pay to get cards graded, each service should be required to include that same little sheet that they include with the cards that they chose not to grade, but explains why they graded your card the way they did. To prove that they aren't just being lazy or giving out random grades. It just seems like there's no accountability this way 🤔🤷♂️ If I get cards graded I'm definitely sticking with PSA though

People are complaining about random and lazy grades only because they're low. PSA does random and lazy grades, but people don't complain because they're high! From my experience, CGC grades most accurately.

The messed up thing about the grading is that they intentionally do not give 10s just to control the population of 10s out there. Most of those 9.5s are 10000% 10s but they just give them a lower grade just because they can. Same thing with that shady non-grading scenario
I agree and the fact that somehow Logan was able to get a 10 on a 20 year old card that was cut out of another plastic is suspect. Almost like the company not only withholds 10s to cull the population... but maybe they take bribes too.
Also further proof Logan Paul's Charizard was not a perfect 10

Absolutely not, I’ve graded over 800 cards at BGS and I have got NO, ZERO perfect 10s.
My luck was very high the very first card I graded was a 10 the card was DCG graded raikou amazing rare.

Rev, I actually have some insight for you here! Shining legends is infamous for having “white dots/speckles” on the back of the cards. This was a problem from the factory. I grade with Beckett a lot and they really came down on shining legends cards for this issue.

5:54 you can see the border on the card is not curved and it is meant to be.
You should send some of the same cards to psa like companies and compare the difference
I can't wait to get my celebi alt art back from psa, it was the only good card my late grandpa pulled, so I wanted it in a slab forever. Hopefully I can snag a 10 but I'd be happy with a 9. If it's an 8 I'd be super surprised.
