I love Mike's guitar playing. That is coming from a HUGE Duane Allman fan, who will tell you in a heartbeat that Duane's epic solo in Layla is the greatest slide solo of all time. But Mike's pastoral and reverent slide guitar in Southern Accents is one of the most heartfelt slide solos ever captured on tape. It is beautiful and haunting in its simplicity and perfectly evokes the emotions of those of us who have ever lost a beloved companion to the next life, and who now wait here patiently to return to that lost loved. BRAVO Mike!
goes to show you dont need 6000 notes a second to be memorable or to sound good. id rather listen to this style of soloing than say a Tim Henson style imo.
