As a non German, he presented himself perfectly well. I am sure he had studied incomparable Richard Tauber recording prior to this concert performance.
@@christianlibrul. No, Tauber was immensely popular and everyone knew and listened to him. "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" is seriously considered by opera singers before they decide to perform it publicly. It does not matter that it is not opera. Operettas written by Franz Lehar, Erich Kalman, Johann Strauss demand the same performing skills as Verdi's, Puccini's or Ponchielli's masterpieces.
It's possible to enjoy many versions of this piece while having a preference for a particular language or singer... People don't have to hate because it's not their favourite. Beautiful. Musik feiern!
Wow!!! First time I saw & heard this in ITA... brings tears to my eyes... Pavorotti singing this in his mother tongue add some ITA warm & sunshine (wink) to this already warm, warm song.
When Luciano Pavarotti was asked during an interview in 1990 who he considered to be the most outstanding tenor in history, he answered: 'Fritz Wunderlich'."
No aragument. Each has a particular style, voice and interpretation. Most of the versions mentioned are beautiful. I enjoy Netrebko, Villazon and Domingo's version: funny and spirited. Most of all, I love Pavarotti's--the power, his unique voice, the sweetness he brings to this song and the perfection of his singing. Whether a song or aria, Pavarotti always moves me profoundly. There are people like him, born maybe every hundred years that leave a legacy and a memory difficult to surpass.
What a beautiful voice and sweet song! I might fall in love again when my prince (whoever he might be) comes someday. Hahaha!!! 😀😀 I love the English version as well. 😊

Well, I like it in Italian. Pavarotti has such a powerful voice. Mario Lanza version in English is also superb. How about Placido Domingo? The three of them give this song an impressive ending. After all, with a song like this, you cannot fail to please. Alvamir Pinto

I'm German and I enjoyed listening to this in Italian. If he sang it in German, the comments would be about how horrid his German was. I can't believe some one called Pavarotti a jerk. He was such a good man and I'm sad that I never saw him perform. Maybe he could have done more with his voice, but then he probably wouldn't have lasted for 5 decades. He was able to last as long as he did because he knew what he was capable of.
Well, I am a woman, but I certainly understand what you mean ^^ Of course, even for other musicians (e.g. Cellists) they tend to move somehow in order to make it easier to produce a certain tone. The more professional they get, the less they actually need to move. Because, as we see with Rostropovich and Pavarotti, they are professionals, and don't have to move very much in order to get an exquisite sound. You are absolutely right. ^^ (your picture of Carreras is quite right xD)
He took a brave step attempting this classic in Italiano, no less. But that was Luciano, NEVER afraid to break barriers.
Luciano's feelings were expressed completely in his voice.

His phrasing of "Dein Ist..." is sensitive and expressive, and the interpretation quite touching, personal and meaningful. Bravo P.
Nobody can compare to the wonderful Luciano Pavorotti, my heart breaks when I hear him.
We miss you, Maestro!

Fritz Wunderlich is incomparable, especially in this genre.
I agree with you and also Kang Wang whom I heard last night for the first time...... his voice is so powerful and effortless....!!!!
Pavarotti says Fritz Wunderlich was the best Tenor of all Time, i agree❤

Do not forget Rudolf Schock 🎼🎶😇🕊️

And where you are, I long to be
You make my darkness bright,
When like a star you shine on me"

This song ought to be in German, but it's a good translation, Italian is such a romantic language, and of course Maestro P is simply incomparable.
