Both pilots are bad asses. The entire crew brought all but one home safely. The flight attendants were incredible as well! If they had the power to bring that poor woman that passed away back to life, they would have done everything they could to do so. I would be proud to rub shoulders with any of them.

Captains Schultz and Ellison, in my travels on WN, I hope meet you both to give you the hugs (handshakes need to take a back seat) and roses that you both deserve. Southwest is a big part of my life and I am one of those people who remembers how it all got started. Going back to a couple of drinks and that tiny cocktail napkin. Hopefully someone kept that napkin and has preserved it in the headquarter’s office. Jobs more than well done, you are truly miracles of the skies.

There's a running joke in the aviation world that a 'navy landing' is a hard, slam it down on the runway, landing. Outside of the navy, where it has to be done and pilots train to it, it's considered a bad landing since it's hard on the passengers and the aircraft.
Saying she made an air force landing, a gentle landing with a smooth rollout, considering this was an emergency landing, is a testament to her skill and her amazing calm under pressure. That was both a joke and huge compliment he paid her.

Forget about skill and experience, they want crews based on race, gender and sexual orientation. I doubt there is one passenger from flight 1380 that demands DEI in the cockpit of their next flight.

Why not just interview Tammie Jo as the [former] Naval Aviator and professional airline pilot that she is instead of all the, "...you're a woman who's done this, that, and the other." To me, the emphasis of the interview was in the wrong place. Gender doesn't make someone keep a level head, run through checklist, and return their damaged airplane to a safe landing... being a professional does. Tammie and her First Officer are professionals; can't we just leave it at that?

You are right, but TODAY, when so much is made out of women in jobs that men primarily used to have, they become heroes when they are no more a hero than a man -- both sexes today have practiced emergencies many times in a flight simulator, if they have a lot of hours under their belt, it probably isn't their first worrisome incident. ALL pilots are expected to handle such a situation with the same calm and control. It is the mentality of the pilot that serves well in emergencies, NOT the gender.

There is just ONE detail i want to mention. The damage sustained to the aircraft was minimal... and since they dropped immediately to around 10,000 ft as per regulation and training, cabin pressure would no longer be a concern. (These things can be an issue if not addressed, as the oxygen provided in the masks only last about 20 min depending on model of aircraft). The reporter was being mellow dramatic with "that's one of the most complicated emergencies you can have"... NO IT IS NOT! Have you ever watched air-crash investigation? Even the pilot stressed that their training - which in this particular case is universal for pilots i believe - carried them through. Sad though about the passenger. P.S. I am an airplane enthusiast, not some Joe know-nothing with aviation. My dad used to be a pilot in the SADF (back when we still had one).

Thought that a big chunk of pilots still have military background. In fact I recently flew on a flight and my seat mate was a 25 year Navy Pilot veteran who just got hired with United. With that much experience flying and that much time in the military, it makes sense to partake in commercial aviation. He said he’s glad to be flying again.

professional, perhaps. dedicated... sure, but "skilled"? I would argue not as skilled as military pilots. Nothing wrong with that, but military pilots have many, many more hours of practical flying skill in varied environments.

It is ridiculous the people are comparing this to the miracle on the Hudson. That plane is totally designed to fly and land with one engine working. What Sully did was never ever done before. Other pilots tried to do the Sully maneuver in a flight trainer and none were successful. As far as females flying high performance fighter aircraft, they cannot take the G forces that are needed to make the combat maneuvers and the G's they generate. This thing is getting lots of press because of a female captain, and its been made a woman political thing. Again, one engine landings are practiced all the time. Losing all engines just after takeoff and having about a minute of flight time left over a major US city, and making an almost never successful water landing? That is a true heroic miracle.

The point is not women being able to fight in combat or performing combat what happens when you’re captured by the enemy. It’s a lot worse for a woman than a man.

Felt sorry for the first officer who had to sit there and listen to the "women this" and "women that" questions. He only got about 10 seconds in edgewise. If the piece was going to focus on women, then the FO didn't need to be there. The tease for this story is "How TWO Pilots'...." kept calm. But, this was a "woman" piece all the way. Hats off to the captain and first officer, but raspberries to ABC News and this whiney whiney anchor / reporter...

Prince Mario Chigi-Albani-della Rovere is a high level prince of Rome and him and his son Prince Flavio Chigi-Albani-della Rovere are controlling the Albanian Mafia. The Albani family originated in Alban Hills and later migrated to Albania giving Albania its name. The House of Zogu serve the Italian Nobility. The Chigi family ruled in Siena around the time the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena or BMPS was established which is still in operation today along with its charity subsidiary Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena which is involved in making pay offs disguised as bad loans. BMPS has about 189 billion in assets. I believe that the Chigi family have an ancient Babylonian-Chaldean ancestry and their name derives from the Hebrew word Shigionoth. The Chigi papal coat of arms uses the hexagram which has Babylonian origins. After migrating out of Babylon the Albani family were likely the Albia Roman gente clan. The House of Chigi has also intermarried with Holy Roman nobility like the House of Sayn-Wittgenstein and through their Holy Roman ancestry have been directly subordinate to the House of Windsor which are working closely with the House of Massimo. The Chigi family are a second level nobility in Rome. The Italian Prime Minister resides in the Palazzo Chigi today. Prince Ludovico Chigi Albani della Rovere was the Grandmaster of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta during WWII and married Princess Anna Aldobrandini who had Rochefoucauld French noble ancestry. Dominique Prince de La Rochefoucauld-Montbel is currently a member of the Sovereign Council of the Order of Malta. The Order of Malta are a military council and engineered various wars through out history including WWI and WWII. Many Nazis were Knights of Malta like Franz von Papen. There was also a holocaust in Albania during WWII carried out on ethnic groups in Albania like the Slavs. The Albanian Mafia are extremely violent and involved with human trafficking. The Chigi family are using their authority over secret societies and the Albanian Mafia to persecute people that the Black Nobility have declared as heretics.
Prince Mario Chigi-Albani was investigated in Italy involving the tax evasion of hundreds of thousands and using offshore accounts in Liechtenstein. Mario Chigi was also charged with violating environmental restrictions at the resort he owns and appears to have been "sentenced to a year in prison in 2016" however his son Prince Flavio Chigi got off on all criminal charges. The Chigi family are mobsters. The Chigi family along with the other Black Nobility are trying to carry out a holocaust in the United States. These people are extremely dangerous and ruthless and have absolutely no regard for human life. Prince Mario Chigi-Albani is the head of the Chigi-Albani family and the hidden owner of the Albanian Mafia. The Black Nobility should be the ones at the top of the terrorist watch list and have bounties on their heads. Prince Mario's son Prince Flavio Chigi-Albani actively manages the Albanian Mafia like the Rudaj Organization and Albanian Boys. One of their murderous mafia crew bosses is named Ergest Mati and he operates outside Las Vegas in Henderson Nevada. John Alite is a top Albanian boss with close ties with the Gambino crime family. Nardino Colotti is another top boss of the Rudaj Mafia. The Albanian Mafia are one of the most violent and ruthless criminal organizations in the world and do a lot of the dirty work for La Cosa Nostra today. Many Albanian immigrants came into the United States after the war in Kosovo and many members of the Albanian Mafia were raised from this violence. Prince Leka II of Albania works as an adviser for the President of Albania and is knighted under the House of Savoy and House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. The Clintons bombed Yugoslavia to help the Albanian mafia in taking over there. They are hardcore gangsters and working on carrying out a Nazi style holocaust in the United States under orders from Rome as a means to get rid of any resistance. Prince Flavio Chigi needs to be hunted down and executed.

Have your heard the ATC recordings? Find it on CZcams.
Her ray-tel, information sharing and decision making was appalling and I shudder to think how she would cope with a problem that seriously affected flight ops.
The ATC was the hero and he got them down. She couldn't even cope with standard frequency changes and had to be talked down. He delays in mentioning the passenger injuries may have delayed treatment.
This woman is no hero and was barely competent at best. Makes wonder about Navy training and gender quotas.
It's all on CZcams, search it and listen before you call me out.

    • @williamgreene4834

You sir are wrong. They didn't shorten their final until they knew there were injuries which they didn't until their ( flight attendants ) row by row checking oxygen masks got to the 14th row. You can hear the change when they found out. As a pilot they expect you to fly the damn plane first. That is how they are trained. If the plane doesn't stay in the air then no one survives. I did listen and you are wrong. You hate women, and you smell bad. In the simulators when the engine blows up and such, the only things on your checklist have to do with flying the damn plane. Nothing like oh do this because a passenger is hurt or dead. Just the ones about flying the damn plane safely to the ground.

Agreed that one engine is trained for, but "barely competent?" Listened to audio, sounds like all involved were pretty competent.

Yes, a failure maybe detectable by x ray was the pilots fault. Even when the records were in check (maintenance).

This is what I said: "This woman was responsible for her safety."
For whatever reason, you all seem to be taking that as me having said that this passenger's death was this pilot's fault.
My point was that while this pilot may have landed "safe on the ground", not all of the people she was responsible for landed that way, and for her to use the words she did shows an utter disregard for her obligations.
The Captain of a vehicle who takes their responsibilities seriously, and has a passenger die on them, will never say "I landed safe on the ground". The message is "one person was lost".
WTF Blog: "I'm wondering if you'd say the same thing IF it had been 2 men that saved that plane."
My comment had absolutely nothing to do with gender. It had everything to do with duty.
For everyone here who fails to grasp this concept, I recommend that you never take charge of any vehicle where you have the lives of passengers in your care ...whether that be a plane or a boat, or even a car.
