@@deniseeugene1852 They didn't offer anything because the GOP is just as broken as the DNC. Medicare for all would be a great start, along with implementing a single payer system. Healthcare is a human right in pretty much every other developed country on the planet, and it should be in the US. Bankruptcies due to medical bills have skyrocketed since the Affordable Care Act was passed, medical expenses are crippling regular Americans and it needs to stop.
That is why the Netherlands is a prosperous safe country with a high standard of living. Unlike America with its massive opioid problem, mass shootings and generally bad manners. I wish America had more people like you who look at the content of a man (or woman's) character rather than the color of their skin.

Was it just me or did anyone else feel a calmness in your chest when the Obamas spoke? Having President Obama in the White House gave me such a peaceful reassurance that an adult in taking charge and making mostly good decisions for the good of the country. Biden did too, until his age was becoming very apparent. Mad respect for all the Democrat leaders who do the right thing. And to the mayor of Mesa, AZ too.

Speaking of bribery, don't forget that Trump wanted to take away obamacare during the height of COVID. And he would have if it wasn't for John McCain's vote to go against it. He hated McCain after that. But if Trump got his wishes millions of Americans would have been screwed with no health insurance in the time of COVID and imagine all the deaths. And that was all because health insurance companies basically tried to bribe trump to cut everyone's health insurance. Don't forget that, it was a pivotal moment in our history.

I have never cried after watching either national conventions.. yet this hit me hard. I’ve always only voted for who I believe would have the best intentions for the people, democratic or republican. I choose who I believe in my heart has our best interests and Obama saved my life literally. When he passed Obamacare I was able to see doctors and receive life saving medication which I’m still able to receive today. The Obama’s made me cry, missing this kind of leadership and dedication to people gives me hope.
I am so glad you got the care you deserve. We are so lucky in Australia, EVERYONE is covered by Medicare with access to all we need. Barak Obama is an outstanding human being.

I used to sell health insurance years ago and it would break my heart that some people would be denied because of pre-existing conditions. Whoever doesn’t like Obama care should be working to help improve it. I was an independent at the DNC in 2008 and was part of the protests w/ Iraq Veterans Against the War, but Obama listened to them and he won me over more with every speech since then.
I am also an indepdent. When I hear people like Pete Buttigieg and Obama talk, it resonates with me. When I hear Donald Trump speak, I get angry, upset with the things he is saying to me. I think the choice is clear here.

i watched barack announce he was running for president in springfield, illinois, my hometown. december 2007. i was 9 years old. he waved to my family afterwards as we walked to our car… obama has always had a special place in my heart. it’s beautiful to see him speak. he has such character
Long as you live, you'll never forget that. He spoke at my university back in the early 2000s. Knowing I once shared a very small performance hall with him before people knew who he was will stay with me. He is the manifestation of hope and change.
Yep, and I can tell you, it's not just your experience of seeing and hearing him speak when you were a kid that makes you feel this way. We all feel it. The man has amazing character and charisma and he nails every bit of his speeches. The special place he has in your heart may be a bit extra special because you also saw him when you were a young child, but in many people's hearts he and his wife have a special place and it's beautiful to see him speak and show his strong and wonderful and caring character. And I'm not even American by the way 🤣 Just sayin', his character and his voice spans across the globe and touches hearts and inspires people everywhere, and Kamala is no different in that regard, that's why I'm here right now, and nowhere else. For freedom! For all of us! Vote!

Listening to his speech live gives me a throwback to Obama's speech in the 2004 DNC. You can hear it in the crowd of how excited they are and to me it amazes me how he's able to maintain most of that momentum within a 35-minute speech. To list a few, he uses a lot of storytelling, anaphoras (repetition, see I Have A Dream speech by MLK), and themes of unity in his speech.
You may agree or despise the stuff he does during his presidency. But you can't deny that his public speaking skills and charisma are OFF the charts.

Me too. I was rather so angry and disappointed with the DNC and not GOP after 2016. It felt like it was their fault. No45 is a Reality Tv star whose had an on camera training yet they gave him a less inspiring candidate to run against. The DNC needed to re-invent a better Obama like person. Someone very eloquent and charsimatic. The DNC failed and let a spoilt grifter who thinks he's a King obviously, born with a silver spoon in his mouth whose policies are reckless, divisive and promotes hatred as patriotism, walk to the doors of power as easy as that. And now years later we're here struggling trying to keep him out of what he thinks he's entitled to.
