- This is my first look, test, and review of the 80 mph Sondors MetaCycle.
It's been 2 years since this budget electric motorcycle was first available for preorder, has it lived up to our expectations?
Thank you @AlexBuysStuff at @computerheadquarters for letting me test your bike!

“Except for having a license plate and motorcycle license” 😂😂😂
idk how it is in the US but here in sweden its a pretty big crime :P
@@diychef729 of course its still a big crime he just doesnt care
My man splitting lanes, no license plate or motorcycle license, no long sleeve on! Feeling a bit anxious when you took your hands off thinking how’s this thing going to handle if you hit a small bump in the road!
Totally agree with you, my friend. He's a total clown! Gives legitimate motorcycle riders a bad name.
@@reiki-guy3894 he's just a showoff, not that deep
No signaling, and rapid lane changes. This guy is a reckless and inconsiderate.
The insured driver’s worst nightmare
lmao just realizing this? He's a stunter, surrons ain't legal too lol
Wow the effort in each of your videos is insane! Keep up the good work!!
You know it’s gonna be a good day when Sur Ronster posts
Definitely
on a warm saturday afternoon? it’s been 20 and under here and is like 40 or 50 and feels like summer 😂😂 it’s a great day
Yes
Frrrrrr
Do you watch treyten by chance 😂
Thank you for ending my day well. Love your vids, watching from Kenya
Enjoy these short videos as the intros are short, he gets right at it and the video production is top notch. Great job.
I got a Sondors Rockstar CZcams channel pretty much dedicated to the bike. I’ve thrown everything at it and modified the hell outta it. Sondors are great bikes. Great review Sur🤙🏻
"I'm going to abide by all the street laws."
15 seconds later...
"I'm already 10 miles above the speed limit."
or how he cut in front of the ford ranger making the left
right?! lmao
Or how he switches lanes without signalling, then lane splits, then takes both hands off the handlebar to clap.
the speedometer is 10 MPH off, it is actually 10 mph slower than what the Odometer shows. it is a known issue
@@mannyechaluce3814 Thats seems like mine as well. Mine hits 50 way too quickly.
Not worth it, sondors stole my $500 deposit, and refuses to respond.
Love your videos man keep up the good work 😊
One of the only CZcamsrs that I still get exited when u drop a new vid.
Another stellar episode! Great review.
I personally love the direct drive aspect of this motorcycle. I use them one most all my E-Bike builds, they are about bullet proof with no moving parts. I have no need to be popping wheelies, no country for old men. But do like the top end of the silent power they produce. Never heard of a system having a top mode that cuts out after a short time except if the battery were dying. Most E-bike system have multiple power setting but I never had one do that. Like the frame design seeing you can be creative with an electric vehicle design.
I'm guessing the bike is switching between its peak power rating and its continuous power rating-- and not doing so in a smooth manner. Very problematic on the highway!
love the content ;) keep it up!!😄
Great review homie! So stoked to see your YT doing so well ^_^ Keep slayin!!!
That intro animation gets me every time bro, its so clean!
Two questions, is that a new microphone? It sounds super clear. Also, do you have and updates on the p51 bullet e-bike? I can’t wait to see what Sondors’ next bike is going to be.
Thank you for noticing! Same mic but I’ve learned how to enhance the audio to make it more clear. So stoked you noticed. Also I’ve got some P-51 action coming you called it!
@@SurRonster what is the mic brand? I'm also looking for one
@@SurRonster first time seeing your video. But I will say I noticed the clarity immediately. Especially when you compare it to a video from Doug or Marques. It's good.
I have a p-51 and trying to do garage mods on it. I'm hoping your is pimped out the right way so I can get some info on it too
@@SurRonsterHow did you enhance the audio P.S. Huge fan
I am very impressed with the suspensions. For this price, it's still good. Even though it's not the perfect motorcycle, Sondors did something amazing, and that is to create a vehicle within this segment. I hope they become successful because that means there will be more competition later down the line, which is great for consumers. As of right now, the only other e-motorcycle that I would consider are the Zero bikes, and those start at least 2x this. If Sondors can produce something that can hit 90mph without a cooldown period, I'm sure they would sell a lot because people can actually take it on the highway. Honestly, this is less Sondors's problem than it is battery technology. To have a battery this small and light that can handle that amount of output is not easy with current battery tech. However, solid state, salt batteries are going into production now so if those become available, I'm sure Sondors and many other players can do amazing things with that.
The technology is there Dude if you inject stator fluid ie, millions of round nano particles suspended in oil into the hub stator just 6ml it will stick to the magnets and stop friction hence more than half the heating process! What a bike though eh!
@@rogereheadbyrne4790 Yeah but is it there for something of this size? The motor spinning any faster might also be a problem. That's why specifically for the Plaid, its rotor has a carbon sleeve surrounding it so that it can hold back the expansion under that speed. I was also wondering if the limitation is also the output of the battery of that size as well, so not even anything to do with friction yet. Since there is only 1 type of lithium battery being used in all EVs right now, you literally can not put out more power with a small battery until new battery tech comes out.
this bike is such a letdown considering it was made by a company that's not new to electric power trains on bikes, with its cool down period and limited top speed, overweight and overpriced. I can't understand why people are giving it an overall pass just because it's electric. I would get a pimped out Rukus over this or some EYE-talian moped I can do wheelies on 😅
@@estebanfranco8955 It gets a pass because the competition just isn't there unless you go back to ICE. For those who want an electric two wheel commuter it ticks a lot of boxes.
@@BN99239 if you reduce friction it will make slightly more net power output. I don't think the bike will go any faster top speed so no issue for the rotor
but better heat didfipari9' is always good especially if you wanna hammer the throttle and do extended runs at top speed. they already implemented overheating protection by limiting sports mode duration with a cool down period but it can't hurt to improve the cooling and If they ever unlock continuous sports mode or if someone figures out a way to remove the cool down the your bike is ready to handle the heat. I would say if you've already worked on hub motors and you know what. you're doing, it's all good
otherwise watch some videos from grin technologies for instance.
Great video! Loving the commentary. ❤
The thing i like about Sur Ronster is that hes totally honest and say if its bad or not like the seat was bad he said but it was a good crooser bike. And keep up with the work Sur Ronster❤
I love the hub motor on my Stealth Bomber, its such a different feelin than my Sur Ron... so quiet and def have more of an "ebike" feel.... its like your'e one with the road, I love it 🤙🏼🙌🏼
💯🫡
No chain either making for almost zero maintenance on the bike.
I love taking that route for test drives in cars after fixing them. On the opposite side of the freeway, there are massive hills and windy roads, too. Great area to enjoy views but also duplicate almost any concern we may face. I would basically take this road on my commute if I end up buying one of these. It would need a 50-mile range and go at least 65mph, that's round trip, but I'd rather charge it at work only 😉
Glad to see you reviewing this bike, we are badly in need of mods!! Mabye you can put a bug in the ear of some of the companies you work with! 🙏 Love the vids!
Great review and excellent video and audio!!
I'm extremely impressed with a thoroughness of this video. I'm definitely going to be a follower on your channel because I really liked the objective approach you gave to the review of the bike. Great video, and I love your honesty!
Very hard to beat for the price. I could see a METACYCLE Pro edition possibly being created, in the not too distant future. Very thorough and well done review. Thank you.
it will be a 20 grand bike :D
Looks like they are making a new bike now with claimed to be updated specs but Sondors has a history of over claiming what they can produce and then delivering a good but lesser product. They are also kind of struggling with money right now which has me worried if they should be trying to make a new, bigger and more expensive bike at all.
It has already gone up 2k in less than a year.
Love the video man I hear the smile on your face at the beginning of the video
Thanks for uploading!!
Wish you would've done a gps speed test to check REAL WORLD SPEED!
When you gonna review a modified Fiido Q1S, or possibly thy new Q2 coming out in May, that'd be cool as hell!
I'm building a Fiido Q1S now, after already owning 2 other of their ebikes, now I gotta save for the Q2 & make some room in my 509sqft apartment, already have 5 ebikes & an e-Scooter in my living room!!! 😆
the happiness I get when I sit down and see that Sur ronster made a new video is un comparable
Your not real
@@Nateomateoyt how'd yk
I live in SD! Love to see you out here.
I found sur ronster 2 weeks ago and I have binged like half of his videos and now I want a sur Ron more than anything.
I'd be interested in your take on the Ryvid when it comes out. Though it costs slightly more than the Sondors, it's got some next-level specs, some cool features, and an easily removable, drop-down roll-away battery to allow you to take in and charge.
I run an ebike repair shop(electric pdx) and hate dealing with sondors to get parts or support. They consistently send me the wrong parts and I have to spend hours of bs time waiting for them for any answers. I really can’t recommend them.
Everyone should consider taking advice from mechanics before buying
Thank you
@@miladwolfster4309 thank you. I really appreciate that. It’s something that people don’t think about when they first buy a PEV but when(not if) something breaks you’ll want to be able to find replacement parts from the manufacturer. Luckily they have parts but unlucky they tent to phase out old bikes and parts for them way too fast. I am somewhat confident that you will be able to get the parts for the bike for a long time but it’s just going to get harder as the bike gets older. Just depends on how soon they phase it out with a new one. First generation bikes get the shaft sooner.
Amazing content man great work👍
I’m super surprised by how conservatively they tuned the acceleration off the line. We know from other low power electric vehicles that normally the only place where they shine is during initial acceleration
I would put money down this has to do with extending the range of the bike. On a quick cruise? Use sport mode. Otherwise you're running a bit slow off the line and bumping up the city range estimate.
Honestly looks pretty good too almost like a mini tron looking bike 😅
Congrats for the camera work and good audio!
Nice honest review. Thanks
Big problem with hub motors is that the wheel becomes too heavy, it is called unsprung mass and on bikes and motorcycles it sacrifices handling quality. It is ok for scooters but that is probably why surron has a chain
Not really, once you have a bike over 100lbs, the "unsprung mass" is barely felt. Yes you need a better suspension as there is a motor there that can bounce up but you get more space for battery, better wheelies and control of them and also more range.
@@SRNAR8 So you admit you are sacrificing ride quality for battery space. No one cares about wheelies when shopping for a bike that is supposed to be for commuting.
@@corail53 Kids who don't know how to ride a motorcycle care about wheelies. It's all that matters. Lol. Safety last.
when the stark varg releases will you be showcasing it? it has a 60 horsepower and 80 horsepower model and its an electric dirt bike. its only 110kg and great suspension. when you can get one you should check it out its extremely powerful
I hope he does since I'm planning on buying it, I'm definitely sceptical about the claimed horsepower in each model though.
I love your videos. They are amazingly put together. Can't wait for the next one!!
Awesome video man! I would be such a back seat driver if I ever drove with you though hahaha
i wonder if it has some type of slow start enabled by default cus i think it probably has alot of torque if it can go that fast. edit: yep i found a video that showed the stock controller settings and it seems like it has a slow start setting enabled by default. that's probably why it didn't wheelie.
it also has less torque because it's a direct drive hub motor. if you've ridden direct drive hub motor ebikes you know they can be powerful but always have less torque than geared hub or mid drives.
this is because without gear reduction/torque multiplication, all the torque had to come from either lots of windings/or very high current /thick wires. both mean weight which is not good for hub motors, and cost (more copper). on the other hand hub motors have bigger radius so it helps torque a bit but still hard to match the torque achieved with gear reduction. on a sur Ron it would be the equivalent to run a tall gearing.
@@geemy9675 what in the delusional world are you saying lol. This hub motor has low turns and low amps, a mid drive still would have the same problem. Weight of hub motors is on par with mid drive but due to being on the wheel they need a better suspension setup but you get better wheelies and more space. gear reduction 🤣 that's not how it works with hub motors, they have copper wire turns within them that control torque and speed. A higher turn hub motor will have more torque. QS205 5T 0-50 (top speed) is quicker than a surron motor doing 0-50 with same gearing (50mph top speed) and amps. Dont speak if you have no clue abt ebikes.
@@SRNAR8 pretty sure some bicycle hub motors use gears but other than that i think you are right. i don't think there is enough space for gears in motorcycle hub motor.
@@SRNAR8 the "delusional" world where I live is a world where it is easier/cheaper/lighter/more efficient to generate high torque and power with small/fast spinning electric motors and gear reduction that multiplies the torque, than to generate same final torque and power with a much bigger/slow spinning direct drive motor. a world where all EV's and 90+% ebikes use gear reduction to achieve high torque. the vehicles that use direct drive hub motors are those with tiny wheels which don't need gear reduction. skateboards, scooters, etc. it's physics. power = rpm x torque that is why all high output/highly tuned electric OR gas engines have high rpms. then gear reduction allows high torque at low speeds.
It's most likely the way the bms is programmed on the battery. They wanted the battery to last for many cycles so they limited the bms to discharge low amps at start and slowly ramp up as opposed to dumping all the amps from the beginning like some batteries with different bms programming
Seems like a nice package overall. Guess the question is, can you overcome the negatives, like the grips and pegs?
Aftermarket grips and pegs would easily fix that issue.
wow after many years a actually good video of this moto
also where did you get that chest bag/pouch?
Awesome and honest review Sur Ronster I trust in you 👊💥☝️🔥🤘👍🏼😝
bro is riding bikes without a license 💀💀💀
Is it a crime in nyc
??
I love the idea, but given the constraints of this ev vs a equally priced ice bike (any 300/400), I still lean towards the ice bikes. Range, acceleration, technology, ride modes, etc still heavily favor the ice variants.
After 10 min of googling, I've only found what looks to be mountain bikes when I search ice bike. What is an ice bike??
@@liquidlinguist3331 ice stands for internal combustion engine, the opposite of electric cars/bikes known as EV’s.
@@chrisdupuy7749 Thank you much friend, my mind can rest easy now knowing there aren't some crazy psychopaths out there riding on bikes made of ice.
EV's don't deafen you and your neighbors.
@@ThePiemasteification all my neighbors have corvettes, vipers, mustangs, go carts, 4-wheelers, motorcycles etc. I guess I am used to hearing the sweet music of a combustion engine.
thank you for demonstrating this item I found the bike online an wanted more information about the product.
surronster! killin it as always my dude 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽⚡️
Looks great! One thing tho, if you tune a hub motor for it, they can be just as snappy as a mid drive motor. It might take a higher input current, but they def have the snap. Check out my build, I can firsthand say it has the snap of a mid drive.
Yeah i have seen some really good hub motors that would do crazy power wheelies. 😃
I think they may have made it less snappy to make it more easy to ride for beginners. 🙂
For my purposes this works well, pricey but I’m ok with the price of a 2023 Diavel or the new Nightster Special from Harley. Manufacturers like Volcon over price and under deliver. This is probably well worth the cake but I’ll need to ride one before I spend all that
You can get a helluva used real motorcycle for under $7k !!
I just got a razor mx350 because of you love the content 💪💙
This channel is the only channel I watch for electric dirtbikes and how to build them and great job keep it up your videos are amazing!
Too expensive.
I canceled my order and bought EUC instead that can go up to 60mph and have 100+ miles of range for the same price. I'll eceive my Damon HyperSport hopefully this summer and you can check it out when you come to the next Houston Surron Mega Ride.
Very nice vid I wanna saw u to tune this thing up!
What I like about ebikes is how quiet they are and I like the sondors it looks so cool it's quiet and looks comfy as hell. Problem tho is it's 5k and can get 80 miles out of it and for about 1k more I could get a Royal Enfield.
Thanks as always for great content! How does the Solar E-Clipse 2.0 compare?
great video/content kudos
The Eking of the retains his drown great video I will STAY TUNED!!!!!!
The fact he isn't wearing a motor cycle jacket and armor, or hell even full sleeves jacket while going like 65 mph had me sweating.

rather honest and straight up review ,,, sexy bike
Yo ur intro is fyyyrrrreeeee with "on my own" and the helmet edit... jeeeeesshhhhh
Thank you bro! Gets me hyped every time
Ive seen some hub motor bikes pull the front wheels off the ground effortlessly lol. Even seen some do it with a stock battery.... but they all had custom controllers and/or controller settings of course.
Love ur vids
Was waiting till the end like surely there's a wheelie coming
Out enjoying life good boy, I'm 65 I might get me one of these , love the wind in my face, and less maintenance than a gas bike, I can travel in silence
I can't imagine how excited you would be to test ride an Energica Ribelle RS. It's all I can do to keep the front tire on the ground when fully accelerating. 0-60 in 2.6 seconds.
fun fact people who say first havent even watched the video yet but nice job suronster you are epic keep up the hard work and that is a hot bike
I own a sondors ebike for about 1 year they are really good bikes
When is the Surronster Ebike coming out?? been waiting for it for like a year!!!
new mic sounds good :)
11:45 Just to let you know because it looks like you never own a hub motor before but you can do wheelies with a hub motor just not that hub motor because it looks like they tuned it for top speed over torque. So just for your Info. Hub motors can also wheelie if tuned for torque over top speed and that also goes for mid drives as well
New surronster vid and a new mic i think lessgooooo
I’m guessing it has adjustable regen braking, you didn’t mention…careful adjustment of the throttle response will give you more snap off the line….but it looks managable and safe the way it is.
I love your videos😊
After a full year with mine I can say that for the 5K I paid, it is worth the $. Thats said, the new 7K price tag puts the Meta a lot closer to newer bikes that are quickly out pacing their predecessors. The Meta is still priced way lower than a Zero but so is the range. I can't stay under 50mph so my range is always closer to fifty miles than eighty. The sport mode will get you a little extra speed but only for two minutes or so before automatically cutting back to normal mode. It is mostly silent while a lot of them are adding sounds and I do prefer the silence over some caned fake noise like the Harley's have. Looks great and with the new Corban seat, you can actually sit on it. Would like to think there are some accessories on the way, but these bikes come and go so fast we can't expect much outside of aftermarket. Passenger pegs are now available, but you better be under 250lbs together. Charges quickly.
Love this banger vid. I still prefer a modded Surron tho but I still love this bike.
I saw someone on one of these the other day.. it looked cool...
Hey Surronster great video, but when you go this fast you should we’re proper sedately gear.
8:13 - 8:35 I know what you are saying is an honest review, but I just laughed so hard 😂😂😂😂 I thought you were gonna drop a little story or something, not that! 🤣🤣 But thanks for the info bro! I'm split between gas and electric.
Bro that looks so good bro. Damn 🔥🔥🔥🔥
they cut corners but I think it was definitely worth it to bring that price to where it is. this thing is so sikk!
Hey, so i just bought a GoPro and was wondering what settings you use
