there is still 1 thing missing, thats the best thing about dirt bikes. Its the sound. like I can't be doing 60 mph in silence I wana hear the power not just feel it. But if it was super moto maybe.
with its thin frame pipes ? wish you luck on landing
Someone already makes an eBike with gears, from China.

Thank you for reviewing our AR Moto X! Amazing ride footage and commentary as always. It definitely looked like you handled the bike with skill on that tricky trail. I'll have to get down there and ride it with you sometime.

Important tip: when you attach the front wheel, only tighten one side of the axle clamps, hold the bike upright and compress the forks a couple of times, then tighten the other side. This helps align the forks. If you don't do this, potentially the bottom fork legs won't be perfectly parallel to each other and it could start to bind as the forks compress. Check the manual, it likely mentions something about this. Also use a torque wrench! Much more important on the triple clamps than the axle pinch bolts, but still important.
Do all that whit brakes on, its align brakes same time👍
Nah uh
I never thought I'd hear you say "I do feel illegal as hell" after riding a 70mph surron for years, go-karts, buggies 😂
Lol right? if anything the Surron is more illegal, just slap a plate on it and your gucci
I’m definitely thinking they are trying to appeal more to the super moto and enduro riders with the way the bike is set up. Would be a nice bike to hop on and ride to the trails and explore places.
I wouldn’t be able buy one, with my back injury I wouldn’t be able to set it up out of the box
@@aussiegruber86 nobody asked
Why the AE86 conversion that was featured on Hoonagian got me excited cause it was electric converted but he retained the clutch and gearbox
this is hands down the coolest/best bike my opinion you've had on your channel
Looks like a great post-apocalyptic survival bike. Just get a solar panel to charge it up after the EMP strike but make sure to have your electronics protected by an EMP shield. I did notice a conspicuous lack of a machine gun mounting turret. No matter, that's easily remedied.
Word bro😂😂
Clutches help a lot with technical riding if you’re allowed to attenuate the clutch with a high resolution. The ones I’ve seen that are similar are actually Trial Bikes, and they have full hydraulic clutches in them. If this is similar, it’s a bit of a game changer just in terms of feel and control for the rider, and, it’ll allow gas bike riders a bit of an easier transition. cluthces are quite important in racing for Corning, trail riding, jumping etc. Also, the bike is kitted out in lights and signals and many dirt bikes are hybrids and you can register them on the road. Unsure about the current laws in my state, but, seems like law as are taking a bit to catchup. Cool stuff
the whole point of a clutch is to be able to modulate power from 0 upwards. so if you can already do that with the throttle because electric motors not need to sit at a non zero idle rpm like combustion motors do (not to mention a flat torque curve unlike combustion engines where u may need to hit a certain rpm and then start feathering clutch to get necessary power to the ground), then the whole concept of a clutch becomes redundant.
Yep. Was disappointed not to see some clutch pops experimenting through the gears. Just rode it like a twist and go :(
@@Mtron1000 I don’t think you’re wrong but I think it depends on the rider and the bikes in this case as well. Your point is totally valid if one has as much throttle control as they do clutch control. Most people don’t. So the skill is transferable. I also think in trial situations you still need the extra resolution afforded in clutch control; however haven’t personally done it myself so you could be spot on. Also traction control likely eliminates some of this need :)
@@Mtron1000 Clutch is still critical for more advanced techniques. On an electric, it's not needed for casual riders. But for advanced riding, yes a clutch is still required. That's why the Electric Motion e-trials bikes still have hydraulic clutches. There is so much more fine motor control and dexterity in your index finger than in your wrist, especially when your wrist is doing triple-duty also steering and holding on. It's why whisky-throttle is such an issue with autoclutch (Rekluse) users.
@@WASemiHardEnduro The clutch also allows for getting to speed without pulling so many amps which extends the run time. If it's 1 gear and geared for 70mph, it will pull a lot of amps to get up to 75% speed, but with a clutch and multiple gears, it takes some of that load off the battery, if you use it correctly and consistently. Also, if your in a slower area where it's more technical, keeping it in the lower gear will pull less amps during that as well. Then if your somewhere where you can just cruise at 50mph, the motor won't rev so high to maintain that speed in a higher gear, which isn't nearly as impactful as the power drawn to get to that speed, but it would help also.
Definitely some great advantages of having a clutch on an ebike. Hopefully the big 4 will get on the ball and we'll start seeing Honda, Yamaha, Kawi, and Suzuki clutched ebikes.
there ara actually no great advantages of having a clutch. the motor can pull from 0 rpm and you can't gain torque by using the clutch and revving the motor, all the torque is available without the clutch. you can't stall, so the clutch is really only here to switch gears which you should be able to quick shift without the clutch anyway the electric motor has virtually zero inertia compared to an engine with similar power output. also if you delete the gearbox suddenly the bike is lighter, more efficient and more reliable, you have more power at the wheel. no more oil changes, no more clutch or gearbox to wear. you might also be able to squeeze a bigger battery or controller. maybe tune for a bit more amps/torque so you could make up for the lack of a low gear.
also 4 gears means 2 in the middle are useless and the gearbox was not designed for the bike. 2 gears could be useful if you spend a lot of time at very low speed like doing enduro or trial, but you don't want to compromise top speed or cruising
the biggest advantage is for people who are used to gas bikes and don't want to relearn etc..
motos are a rounding error for the big four. If Suzuki stays in the dirtbike game, Id be surprised. The money is in frame developent and suspension. At this point any modern dirtbike can suit any rider other than those who ride top 100 ama. Basically modern dirtbikes are dead.
there are more advantages to having no clutch on an e-bike. It's not needed. Clutches on ICE make sense but on an e-bike where you can roll on the power you need without having to rev is a major advantage. The only reason I can see a clutch on an e-bike is on a trial bike. Where you need the snap is for bunny hopping from rock to rock or over logs.
@@bluettr250 Modern dirtbikes are not dead, they are overpowered even for the pro riders. They are talking about removing the 250/450 class and replacing it with a 350 4-stroke class. Which is making all the high-power electric dirtbikes obsolete from the competition. That is what happens when the Big 6 controls the AMA and wants to continue with ICE racing as it is a money pit.
@@FarmerFpv they aren’t dead today but long term, dead . When a 250 bike is 10k, dead
Always brings me excitement when I see a new Sur Ronster vid :) Keep up the good work
Damn son! shout out these guys for making these bikes.
I feel like we're finally getting somewhere
Your first attempt with clutch and gears was comical 😂 keep up the good work bro
I never thought we'd get such a sudden jump in advancement and choice of electric dirt bikes when the space has been dominated by one brand for so long.
There's a lot of really cool bikes creeping up in the shadows. Surron and the other similar looking bikes have dominated the market for sure, but if you start looking in the corner of the room you'd be surprised what you can find! :)
The want is real on this one!! I’d daily this thing on my commute! I’m stoked just watching you ride. Electric, geared, SuperMoto!!
Your content is awesome. I love watching you Build bikes and stuff
You don't have to hold the clutch on a regular dirt bike when slowing. You can engine brake and control speed with the throttle. The bigger difference is you want to down shift as you slow down to certain speeds so you have the correct RPM for ideal torque and power.
I am sure the electric bike you have here is similar. It probably doesn't accelerate as quickly if you try to start in a higher gear.
No
Oh that's what you ment ...
Ok but two strokes dont like the engine break so you have to pull the clutch in if you wanna own it long
@@Roax- yeah but no1 drives a 2 stroke on the street that is legal they are all 4 strokes
@@Patrick-HDyeah well I do so do at least three others I know ?
Transmision is a game changer. Hopefully it starts a trend. All the advantages of gears but none of the hassle like on a gas bike with a clutch. Powerful heavy bike will snap your ankle like a twig without proper footwear, just saying. Of course, it also signals cops, it's a freak'in dirtbike as if that's not already obvious.
Dude I'm totally in love with your enthusiasm, and I really enjoyed this video. For the love of God, please get some motocross boots if you're going to ride something like this. I think out here in Utah this might be amazing for hitting trails and single track...
i love that you live in my home town! great content keep it up. I run that ridge up first st all the time! maybe ill see you around. CHEERS!
I would buy it if I had money😔
I wanna buy a mini but i cant too -_-
I ride dirtbikes and I'd totally go for this if I'd live near a ridable area. Its quiet, fact that it has gears - its perfect to people used to geared bikes. Also allows to play with torque and speed which is needed in hillclimbs, etc.
Also I think it has to have gears given a lack of power. My dirtbike is ~40kw, similar weight and this is 3kw sustained, peak 16kw. Without gears it would be underpowered/slow.
Have you got a 250?
it also has the better suspension than surron which makes it def. more appealing to enduro and dirtbike riders
Dudes laugh is contagious af, lol. Keep it up broskin
I've been watching his videos for like 2 years now I love all of them❤
Man, you are makin me want to get one and try making a supermoto with it.

What action cam do you use and what settings you use on it? The video is amazing
Thank you so much for doing all the reviews this to me is very influential as I will be picking up one of these as my first vehicle
You’ll burn the motor taking off in the high gears, those gears are there for a reason and they act just like they would on a gas bike. You don’t wanna take off in 3rd gear on a gas bike lmao.
Exactly, same with riding in the same gear all the time. You want to shift and use the gears to progressively build up speed and shed it when you come into a corner or turn for ex.
If the ebike is $7k, I would choose a gas-powered motocross bike for sure over that thing. I bet the suspension isn't up to par.
You know the excitement and thrill is really real when people all of a sudden turn into Owen Wilson. Love the content as always! Thanks for the sick vid.
Surronster, enjoy your channel! Would love a Surron but, not sure about legal/cop risk here in NYC..So, i'm looking at a Raev Bullet Gtx...Do u hav a review on it? If not, any reason why not? (I've seen your review of other ebikes...)...Thank you!
You gotta sit forward in the high speed corners so the weight and grip is on the front wheel so you can put the front end where in needs to be
Swingarm looks straight from a KTM. Actually the whole bike is giving me huge KTM vibes for some reason.
The frame pretty much is a cookie cutter from it. Motor and battery are completely different though. Sub frame might be different too. I like mine a lot which is the admit jet armor with a 70ah battery. Good machine, but not light at all. Heavier than my 450 dirt bike.
@ElectroBikesusa 2 months later, how are you liking the Admit Jet? I'm thinking about getting one. How heavy is it? I'm thinking about turning one into a supermoto. Think ktm wheels would fit?
@@DirtBikeNoah500 It's in the ranges of 250lbs-265lbs.+ depending on the battery size. It's hefty. It doesn't feel too bad riding it, but moving it around the garage is a pain with the battery in the bike. It would likely be a great supermoto, I just worry about the motor overheating and causing breakdowns because it is just air cooled. It gets super hot, but that's not unexpected I suppose. I kinda wish it has a single speed gear box in some ways and just was strictly controlled by electronic modes. It could be lighter and also avoid the notchy feeling shifting at lower speeds. It's good for the money and well made, but certainly not perfect. I am not certain about KTM wheels fitting on this bike, but it does seem that freeride models should be within that spec. I just can't say for certain. I believe the wheels are standard motocross size except the rear is an 18" enduro sized wheel.
It's designed for me!!! It will go nicely on the back of my Crown Vic limo camper. Good to see you not eating dirt. Stay safe, your life can change in a split second, and no one wants to see that happen.
this bikes are always sick and I love your content surronster! hope you can find more ways to entertain all these people who come back to your channel and more
The sound is impressive! Nothing like the KTM freeride, which seems to be far more loud, which i think is a comparable bike. Sooo dope it has the clutch, gears and a pedal brake.
Freeride isnt any louder
@@liamhky3939 The high-pitched "whirring" from the freeride, seen on electric cycle rider's videos seems to sound significantly louder
its a comparable bike to ktm freeride since this is just a chinese copy of it.
Does the transmission give you better control going downhill and using engine braking? Or does it really make no differnce vs a conventional e-bike?
Electric motors dont engine brake 🤣
@@mesniburek.That is literally how regen braking works though. This bike's electronics may or may not not be set up for it, but you absolutely can engine brake with an electric motor. It just works differently.
Great video! I wonder how the fact that the Moto X has gears effects the range? I'm sure the range is much better than on just about anything else in it's class; but how much better is it?
The gears are what making riding a motorcycle fun. An electric motorcycle with gears sounds Awesome. I may consider getting one. Thanks for sharing 🤙
This is exactly what I've been waiting for! 🤘🏾
Also, not a single wheelie??? Come on man! Haha
Apart from it being cool as fuck to have gears on an electric bike, is it also better for mileage? since your electric motor can be in lower rpm's at times
Can you ‘downshift’ though, ie. Does it have ‘engine breaking’ differences through the different gears?
I'm blown away by the landscape you get to ride in. Owning one of them in the UK is like owning a boat.
a clutch serves many more purposes than simply disengaging the drivetrain
I think it's a good idea.
Nothing beats the sound of a dirt bike engine sound especially when the power band kicks in...💯
This is for dirt bike or motorcycle riders mainly stunters! Clutch ups would be crazy on this and depending on range for a lot of people they would get an extra set sumo tires for the street. Sick asf!!
great as always, what's the name of the song and artist for your intro/outro?
Love your stuff Sur Ronster keep up the good work!
curious to see what kind of max range it can do at 45-60mph with the higher gears vs single speed surron/talaria/ or qs138 70-v3 dirtbike builds

A: hows it holeshot?
B: does it roost?

$7000 is a great deal for this bike. I wish I had one.
When looking at Italian "Beta" Bikes at $5,000 US Dollars more and total pieces of crap this is definitely a vastly superior machine plus no need for gasoline although interesting to see the oil in the gear box. How that system works is important to know because the Beta machine has total shit wiring so once that fails grenades the entire engine. Definitely a full sized bike but as with anything full size have to look at component wear points to determine the quality of the build plus of course the frame itself. People in the mountain biking World go crazy over just that alone and those have zero engine period let alone this type of gearing anyways. I'd still take a OneWheel over any of these let alone a folding e-bike so much more practical and fun to ride but for serious dirt trackers I can see within that niche a demand for this. As with anything I'd be waiting to see what Tesla does though that's why these prices are so low as Tesla is still so dominant and remains the price-setter for everything pure BEV.
go downhill then shifting to first, does it kinda lock the back tire like downshifting going down hill

@@JPTuloexactly this is actually legal and sur Ron is not
I agree, I figured this would literally be his wet dream! Power, size, quality, speed, torque and all in a street legal package to boot! Maybe the gears or foot brake scared him off since he wasn't fully comfortable with them?
@@jackfetterI think it all depends on the area you’re from. The area he lives in, eBikes don’t get hassled like in some other areas. I think his point was just that this is in no way in the real of “e-bike”.

tbh, i just think that getting a petrol bike would be better at this point. don't get me wrong, i love the electric scene but i think they shine in the smaller bike category. the benefit of an electric bike for me is the discretion of being able to street ride with no real licencing whilst being small and silent. this bike goes against that philosophy however and i just think that in the same package you could get a cheaper, faster, lighter and better sounding (in my opinion) with a gas bike. i just think that this isn't the correct space for an electric bike as it lacks the character of other petrol brands (ktm, yamaha, kawasaki, etc).
