A quick video where I show how I make my silicone molds for epoxy resin. The process is the same for whatever item you are molding - from laser cut acrylic cut pieces to ornaments to a spoon (if you really wanted to?).
Steps:
1. Get your item secured
2. Put some walls around it to make a box - you can use anything that wont stick to silicone. Plastic is ideal - and you can even use lego to get it perfect shape & save silicone.
3. Pour in your silicone! I de-gas my silicone with a vacuum chamber but you don't need to - you can pour a thin stream from high up to reduce bubbles.

Yeah- I have about 5 different molds in my Etsy shop and about 4-5 more in the works! Hopefully updating my shop this week so keep an eye on it because there’s lots of new things in the works :)

I love this. One thing I do to prevent fingerprints is wear a glove on one hand or use finger condoms and only let those touch the acrylic.
usually i wear gloves when I make molds - but it sounded really strange on the microphone when I was doing it! I wiped down the surface with IPA before pouring. I just included the note in the video otherwise everyone would be like "what on earth is she doing with her hands?!"

That was awesome and beautiful. Claire’s piece from your mold was beautiful. Just one question? What was the tape for then trimming it. I didn’t see what was done with it? Your mold was beautiful tho , not sure I can ever make one. Are you on Etsy?
Hi! The tape is double sided and I used it to stick the acrylic gryphon piece down onto the plastic sheet. It makes sure nothing moves around and also makes the box I made reuseable! So if I want to make another gryphon mold I just pour silicone in again.
Does that make sense? Sorry I didn’t explain it well enough in the video!
Also I do have an Etsy :) there’s about 7 or 8 molds on there now and I plan to start adding my resin creations soon !

I purchased this design, but another video of mine with the mushroom whale is a design I commissioned.
Whoops forgot to add - the little tool is actually a cuticle trimmer. It’s the perfect tool for trimming the excess silicone lip !
