I own a pair of grey briar rosnir sunglasses. I am looking to purchase a pair of Sirmot for myself and a pair of Original Pilots for a friend.
Nice!!! The Sirmont is one of the better remakes from AO, well worth it. The pilots I would look at Randolph instead TBH. Price is too close today and quality much better with RE.
ThatGlassesGuy consistently posting the best sunglass reviews on-line and most always ahead of the curve. Most appreciate your honest thoroughness non-cookie cutter reviews! Extraordinarily under-viewed channel. Excited about the new AO Sirmont offering. Its so 1950’s, thanks MadMen. Though, will agree to disagree with AO Sirmont holding the “Most Famous” title in the browline style - that must go to Shuron Ronsir as their popularity was much greater than all the other copycats (mainly Sirmont & B&L Clubmaster). Browline style were initially designed/invented the style in the mid-late 40’s by Shuron. But as you mention the AO’s were famously worn by LBJ & Malcolm X. Agree fully on the font changes - might be a neat way to spot the counterfeits! Always look forward to your releases.
Thank you! That's a fair and valid point as I do struggle with which is more well known and famous. I suppose it depends who you ask on this one! The ronsir definitely dominated Hollywood of the era!

Out of curiosity you mentioned the acetate on these are just OK for the price-point; what brand(s) of browlines in an upper price point would you expect more from. Having a pair of Oliver Peoples Cary Grant 2 in brown I picked up locally (Canada), I was very underwhelmed in comparing to the quality new issue AO Saratoga I got from you a year or two ago
I will add the AO from 2 years ago is not what we have today. As they've geared up to mass production and moved away from using the same mfg process as state things have fallen more in line with quality at the expected price point that I expect... now in terms of the broader market in comparison to the optical giants like Luxottica owned brands.. it's still a cut above their price:quality ratio. The original true Sharon ronsir is still made today and is of EXCEPTIONAL quality for what it retails for. Next in line I would say.. I'm not a huge browbar fan generally 😂. There are some great ones out there though, and Lindberg as well as leisure society make some VERY nice brow bar frames

5:12 Are the nose pads comfortable? A few seconds on and they already left their red marks. Oo
I didn't fit the frame for me, properly fitted it's as comfortable as anything else. Not super front heavy :)
Disappointed they don’t have glass lenses
You and I both... and the fake shield and heat sunk hinges instead of rivet shield. I can forgive the red dot screws, but not as much the rest.
