Yah. When playing his Battle Coty duel in Link Evolution, he hit me with the DNA Surgery + Insect Barrier combo he used on Atem, alongside Kisetai. No battle damage, just drawing & discarding on end for eternity.!Eventually won via him decking out, MST was buried at the bottom.
Weevil is so unlikeable but his strategies and insect monsters were some of my favorite. I find Insect queen so delightfully repulsive, I love her effects even though they can be kind of burdensome if you don’t plan around them.
To me Rex and Weevil were like this series's team rocket (but with less redeamable and charming aspects in comparison to Jessie, James, and Meowth), in the sense that on occasion they could pose a threat but over all they were just too pathetic to hate. I find them more funny in how low they'd sink and still fail rather than get mad over their cruel and selfish nature.
To think that the trick of smuggling the parasite paracide cards on decks is now a skill in Duel Links and is one of the most popular decks to build around it.
It's a skill I love personally tbh.
it is hilarious, and the card itself CAN PLANT INTO THE OTHER DECKS. Sometimes don't even need that skill. I know because im running an insect deck
well, since he throwed exodia I have never liked him. At least Zigfried defeated him for good.

emre ekinci In that specific duel, Weevil summoned an Insect Queen on his first turn due to a card combo, and Rex Raptor got a solid monster out on his turn. However, Zigfried wiped them both out with Ride of the Valkyries before Weevil's next turn came around.

hated Weevil with a passion, but loved his style with insects and trolly tactics with them in a duel, he was actually gonna beat the pharao even more legit (if you will) than Rafael with that butterfly burn, except he just had to top deck Breaker lol... i miss even to this day a character using legit insects (inzectors don't count) like he did

i think he is a pretty cool duelist,having a relatively bog role for a random antargonistic side-character,etc. but well,in the end,the last time we saw him and rex was right after zork was defeated by yugi,so.... i guess they went through the storm of their lives ;-P
Actually, Great Moth was his rarest card. It was explained in the Japanese Anime that Joey took Queen because he couldn't ever bring out Moth.

Also in the Japanese Dub, Joey asks him for two rare cards and two locator cards. But only seems to get 1. Maybe that was a sub error. Unless he counted Parasite Parasyde. Which Joey uses against Mako.
Boy has he fallen from grace since the national champions.
Season 1: Throws Yugi's exodia cards in ocean, and loses.
Season 2: Sneaks a parasite card into Joey's deck, and loses the duel and his insect queen.
Season 4: Uses the seal of orichalcos and pretends to destroy Yugi's soul forever, and gets majorly owned by an enraged Yami and loses his soul.
Don't forget his loss in season 1 was one of the first matches OF duelist kingdom. So yeah, dude fell HARD

I always appreciated how Dartz of all people felt to give Weevil and Rex another chance when all they ever seemed to do was fail over and over again. Yeah you chalk it down to how Raphael was the only one actually putting in work and how Mai and Pegasus both failed in their mission but was nice he gave them as many cards as they needed to finally make the perfect decks to deal with Yugi and Joey
Just sucks that Rex's deck was always some kind of Dino Gimmick with no synergy

Weevil's Original English va is Jimmy Zoppi, who also played Weevil in Capsule Monster Coliseum. However he did not reprise the role for Duel Links. that went to Billy Bob Thompson, who voiced another bug obsessed gym leader in Pokemon Black and White.
Zoppi's other roles include Miki from Revolutionary Girl Utena, and a few roles from Pokemon: Gary Oak, Pryce, and now he's both James and Meowth.
Weevil was booted out of Battle City because both he and Joey wagered two locator cards and because he lost to Joey he lost his only two.
One thing you forgot to bring up was when Weevil lost I don't think the anime ever addressed what happened to Weevil's body when that train flew off the rails seemed he permanently died, but he just ends up next to Rex's body in the hospital offscreen

His laugh was hysterical. I use to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! As a kid and now my son watches with me and he kinda likes Weevil for some reason 🤣🤣🤣
That ending on the train was just beautiful. Honestly, if the train hadn't derailed at that point, Anzu herself would have had to stop Atem instead. Lesson learned: never enrage the pharoah.

Sebastian Gonzalez In Battle City the rules state that they have to have 40, so they couldn't have 60

Every time I see these yugioh characters I try to give them a top tier decks of any format, it's something I just like to think of. I wanted to say Weevil would be Inzektors, but he doesn't look like he plays Inzektors, he looks like a person plays annoying decks like stall or that worm deck out deck.

If Wevile lost insect queen to Joey in the battle city arc, how did he aquire insect queen during the waking the dragons arc.
3:16 I'm not trying to be that guy who comments on all the vids. But Fun Fact: In the Japanese dub, it was never said that Insect Queen was the card he gave. By "Rarest Card", originally people in Japan assumed that was Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, seeing as back then it was the 3rd strongest card in the game (as explaind by Weevil). What supports this idea even more is that Weevil returns in season 4 with Insect Queen and the Seal of Orichalcos, but his Ultimate Great Moth is never seen.

Funny...i thought the undewood in his name was for underhanded...which clearly was in the series.
I always felt weevil underwood's deck was undermined by rather slap-dash tactic. Insects should have been meant to swarm the field more and then poking away at opponent's life points. Insect Queen's concept was good, but the execution was poor. she should have gained life points for every insect in the graveyard while voiding spell/trap card effects from opponent. Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth was also a concept that was cool in theory, but impractical in actual application. It should have been a each turn evolve type monster with each one being one level higher that you could bring out instantly by tributing the previous level on the field. Pinch Hopper though I think was one of the best insect monsters in the game for a long time since it was a search special summon all in one with only its cost of being destroyed.

You know what's funny is the show used examples of actual pricks at locals and regionals. Weevil is a huge example. I was kicked out of locals cause a weevil type stole my yata garasu in like 07 and the monitors said i was out of conduct...meanwhile the other kid was known to steal cards...FUCK WEEVIL. I've met rexes too but rexes are just braggarts with rare cards they either dont know how to use or they wave in front of peoples faces as if it's a lottery ticket. At least Rexes dont cheat.
