      Yeah Mai wasn't really a cheater, she did that psych out thing although to be fair she wasn't really using the perfumes to change up the order of cards in her deck. She abandoned that trick after her duel with Joey & won tons of duels after that. Enough to make it among the Final 8 in Battle City, & the Semi Finals of Duelist Kingdom. Then even when she was playing with the Orichalcos Gang she still wasn't cheating.
      She doesn't even deserve to be on the list as a result. Panik tried to roast Yugi Alive, kidnapped Mai to force her into a duel for all 8 of her Starchips (when she only needed to bet 2 of them) with it being left to the viewers imagination what else he did to her. How was he not on the list?

      I'd like to see Weevil vs Yugi without the help of the Pharaoh. I bet it would be a great duel. Without the Pharoah I'd say Kaiba and Joey would actually be the two best dualist with Weevil and Yugi being the next. I still think Yugi would beat Rex easily without the Pharaoh. Speaking of which it was interesting seeing how the Pharaoh struggled against Weevil without Yugi because Yugi is the more tactical one which you need against Weevil.

    • @shadexvii3975
      @shadexvii3975 Před 4 lety +2

      Zeafer Jones the only real thing I disagree with you on is the Pharaoh not being involved making Kaiba and Joey the two best duelist. Yugi as a duelist holds a lot of potential and skill, he mainly just lacks confidence. He’s also one of the only duelist to beat the Pharaoh legitimately. Kaiba’s bs win in duelist kingdom is cheating, as was Pegasus’ win via the tape recorded fight. I think Rafael was the only guy to beat the Pharaoh outside of Yugi.

      @@reloadpsi It was both! Pegasus was using magic, but also subliminal messaging. They proved it by having Yugi secretly decide on a card, then have the others on the couch guess what kind of monster it was (since they were active observers in the manga Duel rather than being frozen out like in the anime), and two of the three guessed that it was a skeleton knight, which was exactly what Yugi had picked.

Zigfried used it when Joey launched a direct attack, so he shouldn't have been able to use it. Therefor Joey should beaten him since his attack would have gone through and done enough damage to win the duel.
      Zigfried is such a crappy villain that even with his broken cards and cards that were conveniently able to counter Joey's deck, he still needed to have the plot allow him to use a card in a way that ignored its requirements in order to beat Joey.
      Also his Valkyries just ending the duel with Rex & Weevil also counts as cheating in my book. Imagine your little brother, the brother you've been bonded to your entire life, a pair of orphaned children adopted by a father who didn't truly love you and pushed you to the bring of physically breaking down... Now imagine the only person you had during this whole time was your little brother, and he is the only thing who is able to keep you from going insane or jumping off the deep end. Now, imagine that said brother was held hostage, and you had to win your next fight or your brother, the only thing truly keeping you alive, will be killed...

This didn't seem to have happened in the show (and it was cut from season 0) because if Kaiba already went through that I dunno why he thought a bluff would work.

    @IrvinCascade Před 3 lety +27

    9:20 Sort of a problem with this one, though... As unlikely as it is for her to be able to smell the fragrances of each individual card in her hand, being able to gauge what card is next in your deck would likely be impossible by this technique, alone. That's because of, well, what he said: the fragrances would overlap and mask each other. Especially if they are so faint an amount of perfume to prevent the overlap. If I'm correct in how she'd be able to do this, you'd functionally turn the cards into a form of "scratch 'n sniff," by dipping them in the perfume and allowing it to soak into the fibers. You'd then press on the card and squeeze the fibers from the center of the card to the edge, allowing the faint smell to waft out--at least that's the only way I can think of to make this possible... Of course, doing this would ruin such cards; because, the chemicals would likely do some nasty things to the ink on the cards. Furthermore, you can not use the perfume to gauge the next card while it's atop the deck; because, pressing down on the next card and then moving your fingers to the edge of the card means pressing down on your deck, and doing the same thing to the entire deck--which, in turn, means releasing the fragrance of multiple cards, which would also make the fragrance pretty strong, not only blocking you from reading the next card you draw, but also kicking up a STRONG stank aroma that would mask the deck, and perhaps even ruining the individual cards' fragrances. This could also explain how Joey ended up learning the truth to her mind games, if she got a little carried away with things, and pressed down against the deck...
    HOWEVER! You're still correct for including Mai as a cheater for using her cards in this way.
    Why? Because the use of markers of any kind on your cards is universally banned, no matter what kind of card game it is--from playing cards to trading cards; Poker to Yu-Gi-Oh! And as such, even if it's as a means of messing with people's heads, and not intended to be a cheating strategy of gauging your next card(s), it's still cheating.

      Seto Kaiba had to do that to save his brother especially after the BS Yugioh pulled.
      Kaiba didn't cheat he call Yugioh Bluff or seen if Yugioh had the heart to kill him to win because Kaiba was showing he willing to die to save his brother.
      So Kaiba played his last card by calling Yugioh Bluff after Yugioh pull some B.S with fusing Kaiba Monster with a undead Monster (which isn't possible) and the writer not allowing Kaiba Ultimate White Dragon to die once it was attack because Kaiba couldn't bring back his Ultimate White Dragon with Monster Reborn.

      @@fantasymangacomicvisionary5688 I get tired of people trying to punch holes in the first season of Yugioh. In my opinion I wish the actual game was more like the first season of Yugioh Duel Monsters. It's better than the real life adaptation, that's for sure. You do realize that the first season was created long before any real life adaptation of Duel Monsters was created? The only reason monster abilities, and cards work differently from their anime counterparts is because Bandai/Konami had to adapt the game of Duel Monsters to a real life setting where we lack interactive hologram's of monsters that react to everything. With real life adaptations come limitations, and more rules to balance the game. The first season of Duel Monsters is how the game was supposed to be imagined, because the writer of the manga intended for the game to be very multidimensional, whereas the real life adaptation is very set in stone. New cards, and combinations were being created on the spot for each episode to keep the anime interesting, even after the first season. The real life versions of those cards arrived after the fact, and had to somewhat loosely replicate their anime/manga capabilities. Technically we are the ones that play the game the wrong way, because the manga and anime came first. Fusing an undead monster to a living Blue Eyes causing it to rot is actually really cool for the anime, and it makes sense. Just because the real life adaptation of the card game doesn't work that way doesn't mean it's cheating, or B.S. It's just a completely different version of the game.

      @@donavonhoward114 I wish the game was strategically like Battle City (the best arc) taking whatever card you choose after defeating someone and all.
      But my favorite Duel within season 1 was clearly Yugioh Vs Seto (top 5 overall) and I didn't have a problem with Yugioh using a Perfect Defense to stop Seto OP Monster or Yugioh using something to fuse with Seto Monster killing it slowly to attack and overcoming Seto Virus Card if it a plot hole or not (in fact it was Awesome). But them having Seto Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon not be killed after it was weaken enough to be killed, but instead just have Yugioh Monster just chop one of his heads off was ridiculous. They basically wanted to make sure Yugioh look like he allowed Seto Kaiba to win when in fact if Yugioh Monster would've destroyed Seto Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon like it was suppose to instead of just chop one of it's head off, then Kaiba would've won straight-up because he had a Monster Reborn to bring his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon back totally unfazed.

      Anime/manga rules and irl rules are not the same. Look at the first season. There were no tributing rules. A Blue Eyes could be summoned without tributing any monsters. Card effects were also different. Do a search on the Yugioh wikia. You'll find that some cards have an irl version and an anime and/or manga version. The Egyptian God cards in the anime are OP compared to their irl counterparts.

  • @Mycroft616

    Couple of things:
    1.) Pegasus did cheat besides his Millennium Eye. Though skipped in the dub, the video he sent to Yugi was edited to include frames of various cards while he watched the video, and then had to create a brand new deck for the duel. Those quick frames sent subliminal messages that influenced Yugi's new deck, giving Pegasus yet another advantage in the duel.
    2.) Minor one this time, but must be said since you brought up the original version with Kaiba. Seeker/Rare Hunter had a deck of fake cards. The ink does in fact grant him the ability to know his next card, but the cards are as phony as Odion's Winged Dragon of Ra.
    3.) Something else the dub changed that you should have included. Keith smashed the Millennium Puzzle under his own power. He believed the voices in his head were coming from the Puzzle. This is probably the lowest priority on the list, since the 4Kids edit to this episode actually brought the concept closer to the manga version than the Japanese anime.

      Winx Club had them remove that one solo fairy companions entire gimmick of referencing stuff like Spider-Man and renamed the actual concept of Magic and the groups name to actually be Winx (it’s JUST the girl groups name)
      In Pokémon they are SO afraid of using the actual culture the series hails from they renamed the obvious rice balls into…jelly donuts (whilst STILL leaving them look NOTHING like donuts)
      Then there’s their complete aversion to acknowledging any religion to the point of absurdity such as changing EVERY 6 pointed star sign into a 5 pointed one

    I'm not entirely sure, if Marick cheated with his duel with Mai, I mean, she took the card but unable to use it because of the text.
    But we must consider a few things as well:
    1. Marick has the original God card in his deck, meaning it's the one and only 'Winged dragon of Ra' god card.
    2. Pegasus himself, couldn't decipher the original text of the 'Winged Dragon of Ra' from the stone tablet into the card so he kept the text as is, so that only the REAL master of the card can release the power of the god card.
    3. Marick also explained that the wordings on the card itself are Hieroglyphic text, which was used by ancient Egyptian priests. Also his clan are guardians of the Pharaoh's tomb, so technically they know how to read the text.
    4. The God cards can ONLY be wielded by duelists that are seen by the gods as worthy ... given the anime point of view ...
    Even when Rex and Weevil stole the God cards, they'll just get roasted by the gods if they were dumb enough to even be thinking of using them. I was hoping to see other cheaters from other Yugioh animes but I guess that would be spoilers for people who've yet to watch the rest of the series..... BUTT ..... I 1000% agree that the #1 cheater spot belongs to ... 'Bandit Keith' ... no questions asked, RIP that guy where ever he is....
    However: (Spoiler)
    I do question why 'Ziegfried' isn't even on this list. I think he was trying to use a card that has doctored effects changed on it's text during his duel with Kaiba but lost before he could even use it so he gave it to his brother during his duel with Yugi ... either way, his brother still lost due to the card's Hiccup on it's text restrictions.

    Weevil did discard Exodia and he did get that kid to sneak a card into Joey's deck, but he also abused his position as the Duel Monsters regional champion to access the Duelist Kingdom rulebook before anybody else, thereby giving himself an unfair advantage coming into the competition. Bandit Keith got Bonz and his friends to duel Joey and gave them pointers from the sidelines, trapped Yugi and his friends in a cave using a giant boulder, betrayed his associates by beating them up and stealing their star chips, and then snatched Joey's tournament card so that he could automatically win their scheduled match in the semi-finals (particularly as he didn't have a card of his own).

Unless death occurs as a result, bodily harm could be considered part of the tournament's risks you consent to

    I think you missed Duke Devlin. The trivia on the episode info for Dungeon Dice Monsters parts 2 and 3 say so. He conveniently withheld info of some key rules of the game from Yugi most importantly how the dungeon pathway plays out. Also you're forgetting the guys from Team Catastrophe in the World Racing Grand Prix in 5Ds. Their idea of taking down their opponents was using an illegal shadow card called Hook The Hidden Knight to look their opponents' back wheels and causing them to fall seriously injuring them.

    For #5, I feel an exception could be made for the foreign language cards as presumably ALL of the God cards are in Egyptian, and since Kaiba is using one, it could be seen as not being against the rules in his tournament.
    Also for #3, you wouldn't need 40 different types of perfume, just one for each different card. And presumably, like you said, all the smells would mix when in her deck, so it probably wouldn't give as much of an advantage, if any.

    I think Panik should've been in the list of Yugioh cheaters, or at least be a dishonourable mention, because he was psychologically messing with Mai by scaring her into defeat and tried doing the same to Yami Yugi, plus he basically kidnapped Mai, forced her into a duel (and who knows what else he did or tried to do to Mai), and tried to basically kill Yami Yugi by trying to literally roast him alive

    Maximilian Pegasus? The number one Millennium Item cheater? Ha. Funny.
    Y'know how in Duel Links Yami's ability is "Destiny Draw"? No bullshit, it's straight up that "Heart of the Cards" crap we saw him pull in nearly every episode. Every single time Yugi won a Duel in the series (except for when Atem couldn't help him), the Pharaoh was subconsciously - or purposefully - using Destiny Draw with the power of the Puzzle.
    Number one cheater in all of Yu-Gi-Oh? Pharaoh Atem - whether he knows it or not.

      According to the lore of the series, Atem was using the Millennium Puzzle, and use of Millennium items was explicitly excluded from this video. The only reason Marik still made it on the list was because he cheated in ways that did not involve using the Millennium Rod.

    • @theomnigamer9177
      @theomnigamer9177 Před 2 lety +1

      bhull242 Then the lore is somehow contradictory from what it is showing while it is being explained to us. Because during Atems duel with Yugi, Yugi placed all the Millennium items in the sarcophagus in their respective slots. And neither Yugi or Atem have a Millennium item on their person. When they are in the midst of dueling Marik and Ishizu are speculating that Atem must be willing whatever card he needs from within his deck, to the top of his deck.

    so i'll give you mai, because within Duel Links, what you said with predicting her cards is actually a directly referenced ability you can earn on her. i believe it is referred to as "Aroma Strategy". it means you can always see the card you will draw next. back when beatstick decks were a thing, i ran it with cards that allowed me to shuffle up so i could manipulate my deck to hit the cards i needed, the normal method being "Card Trader". if i didn't want my next card at that time, i'd pitch a card into my deck, shuffle and redraw. occasionally did more harm than good, but almost always worked.

    I’m extremely glad that Yugi/Yami wasn’t on this list. He never cheated, it only seems like he/they did because the opponent was the real cheater. Like in the battle between Pegasus, people say he wasn’t supposed to summon the magician of black chaos without sacrificing three monsters. This is incorrect. Pegasus had a cheat card in his deck that in the original, was to be used. Sadly, 4kids removed this extra dramatic scene, and made it to where Yugi/Yami had to cheat to win. (They overall deleted the scene in the original, so it’ll be hard to find it).This is technically cheating, but not at the same time. If in the original he didn’t cheat, but in the remake he did, what would that be? And before you say it’d NOT be cheating, then why don’t I add this bit of info: the scene never aired, it never happened. Would this be cheating? I’m struggling, please reply and tell me what you think. A large explanation would be nice....and great video!! I skipped through to look for Yugi, and was happy he wasn’t in.....great work!

  • @kronusexodues7283
    @kronusexodues7283 Před 8 lety +11

    well, kaiba might have cheated when he threatened suicide, but he won ;)
    oh, and Marik also won with the foreign language.
    and what about the time where yami yugi cheated in episode 26 by tugging on the table until the dice would show the numbers he wanted? btw, he won that one.
    oh, and Kaiba hacked into Pegasus' server and reduced yugi's opponent's dragon's atk. that duel also ended the way kaiba wanted.
    so the saying should be cheaters never prosper, unless they are imporant to the plot.
