      @darklavalizard I think it was around 30 dollars. I was born in 1980. My brother and I watched turtles in the morning before we went to school. Now we can just kick back and watch it for however long we want. Man we miss those days. Turtle Power!!!!!!

      @darklavalizard I think it was on sale at the time. I got myself a set for $24.99. I already owned the Turtle Van Collection, but I wanted to get an extra set for safe keeping. It'll remain sealed until I need it for any reason (a disc in my collectible set gets scratched or the data on a disc somehow becomes corrupted/unplayable). It's rare for that to happen, but still a possibility.

      @@NYCJoeBlack Around the time of the first TMNT movie the cartoon apparently had a revamp where it became more serious. It's trademarked by the fact the later seasons featured a red sky kinda like what happened in The New Batman Adventures.

      Ultra Instinct Goku Black - Okay. Thank you for the explantation. I watched the original TMNT cartoon inconsistently when I was a kid. Recently, I purchased the entire series on DVD, so I plan to watch each episode.

      @@NYCJoeBlack No prob. I was in the same boat as you as I watched TMNT rather infrequently (mostly watching the VHS tapes from FHE back in the day) so I had no clue the series went on for as long as it did or the fact the Red Sky revamp was a thing. Also because of censorship they changed Mikey's weapon from nun-chucks to a grappling hook.

    • @NYCJoeBlack

    Its out of order, missing epsoides and renamingepsoides. Disc 1 has 5 epsoides its missing epsoide 6. Then the bonus epsoides which are technically season 10 are called bonus epsoides on disc 1. Season 2 has 18 epsoides, but on the DVD set season 2 has only 2 epsoides. They put the rest of season 2 on season 3. Epsoide 8 has a different name from the wiki. Thats as far as I got. I'm trying to find info on it.

    i think that lions gate should have done what shout factory and do the whole box set thing with separate cases containing 8 or 10 discs in them
    Because my Least Favorite kind of packaging is the stacked discs and the 2 discs in one tray thing
    Because they are either hard to get out or they could scratch due to the other disc on top of it

    • @YamiAnubisX
      @YamiAnubisX Před 4 lety +2

      Actually Shout Studios does the same exact thing as Lionsgate did with TMNT with there Super Sentai line, I would know as I own Zyuranger and its the same exact way as this and all of the Super Sentais do the same.
      The MMPR on the other hand is different.
      Also Lionsgate did what you asked back when they started the TMNT dvd line in 2007, they sold em in volumes and dvd boxes and such, this is just a cheaper way and honestly a better way cause if Lionsgate had done what you suggested, it would be like what they did ages ago, which would be way more expensive.

    The show originally came out separately over the course of several years on DVD in multiple forms, it was initially put out as individual volumes for seasons 1-3 and then season sets for the rest of the series.They did eventually go back and re release the third season as a complete season three set where there was previously four individual volumes with 12 episodes a piece, they also later did a complete series set in the style of the turtles' van.
    This set here is the most recent release, though i have all of the individual volume and season sets since that is what i have been collecting gradually over time.

    Love this set. Yes the stacking DVD system doesn't work the best and make it easier to scratch/ break a disk but overall I loved the interviews in the special features part of it and the other things included on each DVD. Plus you won't really find a way they're not stacked where the DVDs could be damaged some how. The classic Series in general is way better than the new version (Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles). Still worth the buy.

    I own the van version and i can say that it is so much better than this particular product, being reviewed. I own many other collections and memorabilia, mostly from the late 70s, the 80s and 90s. I don't really care about the overlapping discs, as long as they have their own disc slot. This product having double staked discs on a single slot comes as a big bummer. Another thing is that, it lacks originality on the outer "art work". It's sad to see that today's reproduction of a past product will be so generic.

      FUNimation's and 4Kids' joint release of the 2k3 series was all over the place, because they initially released the first two seasons across fourteen individual volumes with just three or four episodes on each disc as FUNi did and was doing with DBZ and DBGT prior to and around the same time. The subsequent seven volume set of season 3 was even more of a mess because the last few were a random and jumbled up mix of episodes of that season and the first part of the fourth season in which quite a few were horribly out of sequence. On top of this, the season 4 set which came out shortly afterward was only the latter half, and needless to say this made for an annoyingly tedious release pattern which the old '87-'96 series managed to avoid for the most part during the course of it's distribution by Lionsgate.
      They did go back and do proper season sets eventually, but only of 1, 2, Ninja Tribunal/S5 and Fast Forward/S6. The seventh season aka "Back to the Sewers" where the characters were ever so slightly redesigned to look closer to the then recent 2007 CGI film was never released here. Unfortunately, the third and fourth seasons didn't have the same complete season re release treatment done with them for consistency.

    • @michaelbolcato192
      @michaelbolcato192 Před rokem +1

      That’s because the Season 1 DVD has 5 episodes from Season 10 as bonus features. Season 1 only has 5 episodes so Artisan/Lionsgate thought it was a good idea to add more episodes to the disc to make not bare bones Plus none of the Season 10 episodes weren’t made available on home media at the time until the Season 1 DVD came out in 2004

      @michaelbolcato192 Před rokem

      The video quality is terrible probably because they use VHS masters for the episodes. The Family Home Entertainment logo appears at the end of the some of the episodes and the later episodes still have the CBS Action Zone bumper.

    Well I don't love the packaging I do think that overall it's a good set that I was looking us to get for only twenty-five bucks at my local Walmart. What's weird though and it seems to be the same with your set is the discs are kind of package somewhat out of order silver mine are reassembled the disc to where they were in a more sequential order.

    • @michaelbolcato192
      @michaelbolcato192 Před rokem

      I can’t tell you which discs have the special features but the discs that are considered Seasons 5, 7 and 10 all have bonus features. Season 7 having the most bonus features. Season 10 bonus features have 2 missing episodes that were absent on the Season 5 discs. The season 1 disc has 5 episodes from season 10 as bonus features. These discs in this set are basically repackaged versions of the volumes and season sets that were released by Lionsgate in the 2000s meaning it’s has the same content as those DVDs.

    Hey J's Blu-rays, you're just like ramboraph4life because both of you don't have television cable anymore and you both claim to have SO many DVDs as the excuse to NOT pay for cable. If they want entertainment, just binge watch through several DVDs they have purchased. Also, ramboraph4life made some videos complaining the various problems that exist on the individual DVDs of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) series.

    • @andykishore
      @andykishore Před 5 lety +2

      Yeah, but the argument against Netflix and Hulu is that they sometimes take down shows because the rights have expired or something along those lines. Whereas, DVDs you can usually own for as long as you please. I still have some of my old DVDs that I purchased back in 2007 and 2008.

    • @donnellcoleman7784

    • @andykishore
      @andykishore Před 5 lety +1

      Another argument against Hulu is that Hulu is offered only to users in Japan and the United States. So anyone living outside of those countries are basically screwed. At least Netflix is offered to people in several different countries around the world.
