@Aaron Clorox It says on the back that it is FULLSCREEN presentation (4:3). So it is NOT widescreen (16:9). You don't want widescreen anyways as this was originally animated at 4:3 screen ratio. and it would be cropped to fit a widescreen (losing some of the content).
This is how I have the show I keep the turtle van in the cabinets under my TV and the dvds in another dvd case just incase that might help keep them from scratching. I'm hoping the 1987 TMNT series will start coming on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network or Boomerang TV channel soon. I know there's a Nintendo game based on the show coming this year I hope to get it and hope Nintendo Switch gets TMNT 2: The Arcade Game some day since I don't have a great way of playing my NES.
@Shawn Peterson I saw that and hope to get both games but I was really just thinking about TMNT 2: The Arcade Game and maybe the other NES/SNES TMNT games coming to NSO separately since I've been having that game for years but not a good way of playing it and I doubt I'll even try to get halfway through the games in fact with The Cowabunga Collection I won't even try most of the games on it.
If they wanted to change the openings for Volumes 1-4, they would plaster the older Lionsgate logo with the 2005 one, but the music from the older logos may faintly play during the beginning and the end due to poor plastering.
I have the 2018 reissue, and I thought the discs would be different, like on the first disc which is the first season and 4 episodes from the final season had the 2001 Lionsgate Home Entertainment logo and the Family Home Entertainment Kids logo, and I thought they would be replaced with the 2005 Lionsgate logo but with the music from the aforementioned logos faintly playing at the end because of poor plastering. But however, when I put the disc in my player it was the original release so they are the same as the individual releases.
When season 5 was initially released on DVD it was missing a few episodes, one about a time machine and then Planet Of The Turtleoids which was broken up into 2 episodes I believe, it originally aired as a HBO Primetime special. Does this fix that or are they missing here too?
Those two episodes are still missing on the Season 5 DVDs, and the episode guide booklet that comes with this set does accurately skip those two episode numbers (125 and 126) where it lists the Season 5 episodes. However - Both episodes are included in the "Special Features" section of the last disc of this set, Disc 23 (the final DVD of Season 10). I just checked, and they are the split-up two episodes and NOT the HBO unified special. Hope this helps!
On a scale of "Garbage" to "Amazing", I think "Good" is probably appropriate, ha. They definitely didn't do any fancy transfer or anything for the DVDs, so it still has it's originally filmic look - a little artifacty sometimes, not super crisp...maybe like, one step up from VHS, haha. I "think" it's the same transfer that they have on Vudu, AFAIK.
great set I have it. the thing that just upset me is. first how the DVDs are placed in the vanox (van/box) there is nothing separating the dvds. now the most upsetting thing us after disc 9 the episodes are out of order. like if you watch episode 108 on disc 13. the you would have to put in disc 12 for episode 108. an even then disc 12 is out of order by itself. it's 110,116,107,109,113. what the fuck.realy they couldn't put the episodes in order. (NO) why becuse all they did was take the dvds from season 1-7 or 1-8 and put it in a boxset. along with season 9-10. the good thing that season 10 has three EPISODES from season 5 that was not included in the season 5box set
Yeah, that's been a long-standing complaint with TMNT DVDs in general, even for the 2003 series, that the episodes are all out of whack. My only guess is that they didn't think anyone would want to go and buy all 10 seasons and watch it front to back, that maybe people would just buy a volume here and there, so they didn't bother putting them in exact order. They just used the old releases for this set, so they didn't re-author any discs to fix the ordering, but at least they realized that it was wonky and provided an episode guide...and also added those extra episodes you mentioned to the final season's discs to ensure that every episode made it into the final set. I don't have much of an issue with the way the DVDs are being stored, however...mine just sits level on a shelf, so the discs don't get jostled around too much. Anyways, thanks for watching and commenting! :-)
+geektacularX you would think that after the single season sets. they would have been like. ok let's put theses in order from 1-198 without skipping around or even better putting 3 episode there were from season 5 on disc 21 as a special bonus.
They repackaged this DVD in stacked discs this year. But I would get the that you have because the packaging is so much better and it has a book inside with the episodes on it so we can see what we watched.
+Zack Johnson Yeah, it's actually surprisingly well designed, with the exception of no space to store the booklet. If only they had included a little place to stash the episode guide, it would be 100% awesome. As it stands, I'd rate it 99% awesome! :-)
Maltese Hamster and Sky Turtles order is also reversed compared to production in case you didnt know. Im a big fan of the 1987 series and the first 3 movies btw but I dont like anything that came after the next mutation series.
i love the 87 series it is still my fav but i did not mind the 2012 series i liked it the animation takes a little while to get used to and spliter being so tall but i did and really liked it and unlike 2003 it has a lot of love for 87
Hey can I help me please, what the difference between the fat case complete series and this? I need to know bc I have the last copy spotted of fat case and I'll be leaving this state in a day. And was wondering if it was complete like the can or messed up like the single seasons
Both are 23 discs, and there's no way they re-authored any other them, I'm fairly sure. I expect that the fat case version that came out last month has the exact same discs as the Turtle Van version, just in cheaper packaging...but I haven't seen it myself, so I'm not 100% sure. They'd make a big deal if they re-authored any of the discs, I'm sure...since this "fat case" release came with no fanfare, etc., I'm thinking they want to just find a way to sell the same DVDs to folks who aren't interested in the big/bulky Turtle Van box.
This set includes EVERY episode from the original series, so there's no real "bonus episodes" to speak of...it's got all of them that were ever produced! :-)
+Dave M Sweet! I was pretty happy that they resumed production of it after a while of being out-of-print...I say grab it while you can! Oh, and: Thanks for watching!
This is pretty dope. I usually hate gimmicky box sets but this is pretty compact and doesn’t look bad.
Imagine seeing a van on someone’s shelf, you’d be like “why do you have a kids toy on your DVD shelf”
I still have my party wagon. I even got it signed by the voice of Raphael:Rob Paulsen himself.
just got this as a christmas gift yesterday, love it.

Thank you!
I hope they remaster this series & Superman the animated series in HD like they did Batman the animated series. Ninja Turtles are the best.
they should of realy added an episode guide inside the none turtle van version(purple case) realy pissed me off about that

Got mine from Amazon
Have this too and freaking love it!
Cowabunga dude!
Awesome set
awwe I loved that old classic series. great pick no bro
+Christian Dumas Me too!! It's still fun to watch, even after all these years! Thanks for watching and commenting! :-)

@@geektacularX It does help a lot! Thank you very much.
@@geektacularX - Is the episode One About a Time Machine inclusive in this release?
Is the quality of the episodes good? Because with almost 200 episodes on 23 DVDs, there are bound to be some dips.
On a scale of "Garbage" to "Amazing", I think "Good" is probably appropriate, ha. What episodes are on what disc?
What's your favorite episode?
I need to find this
